RESCUE ONE – LED FUSE UPDATE REV 1.0 IMPORTANT UPDATE REQUIRED! SUMMARY This update is designed to help protect the Target LED’s from overcurrent in the event of the LED’s coming in contact with water. Please remember that safety is first when working on your game. Be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the power cable from the game and the wall outlet. Make sure you adequate lighting and plenty of room to work behind the game. It is always a good idea to put tape over the coin slots to prevent people from inserting coins into the game while you are working on it. TOOLS NEEDED: Found at a local hardware store    Wire Cutters Razor knife Crimpers LED FUSE UPDATE This update kit contains   10x inline fuse holders (2x spares) 20x 1amp 250v barrel type fuses (12x spares) INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUSE UPDATE 1. Turn OFF the game power and disconnect the power cable from the games power input port. 2. Open the top back door to gain access to the electronics. 3. Disconnect the 4 pin connector from the back of the LED target window. a. On this connector, you will find a RED 22ga wire that is double pinned. We are going to focus on the single RED wire that is coming out of the BLACK sleeve. Connector and wire Disconnected Wire to fuse Notice how there are two RED wires attached to the same pin… You want the focus on the one coming from the sleeve. Bob’s Space Racers Inc© 2015 Rescue One Fuse Update p.1 Continued… 4. Strip the BLACK sleeve back about 2 inches to give yourself more wire to crimp with. a. Be very careful on this part not to cut into the internal wiring of the sleeve. b. Use the razor blade to cut the length of the sleeve you want to strip. See figure 1 c. Next slice the length of the sleeve you wish to remove. See figure 2 FIGURE 1 5. 6. 7. 8. FIGURE 2 Locate the single RED wire that was mentioned in step 3.a About half way between the connector and the sleeve, cut the RED wire. See figure 3 Strip the wire back about 3/4in and twist it. See figure 4 Fold the twisted end in half and pinch it to close it. See figure 5 and figure 6 FIGURE 3 FIGURE 5 Bob’s Space Racers Inc© 2015 FIGURE 4 FIGURE 6 Rescue One Fuse Update p.2 Continued… 9. Locate the fuse holders and remove them from the plastic bag. a. The fuse holder is a two part assembly in which you crimp it to the wire using a standard pair of barrel crimpers. 10. Position one side of the fuse holder in the crimpers and insert the wire into the barrel end of the fuse holder. See Figure 7 and Figure 8 a. Be careful not to go too far into the barrel as you do not want to crimp the jacket of the wire. 11. Repeat this for the other side of the fuse holder and the other stripped end of the wire. 12. Insert a fuse into one end of the fuse holder. See Figure 9 13. Connect the two ends of the fuse holder together. See Figure 10 FIGURE 7 FIGURE 8 FIGURE 10 FIGURE 11 FIGURE 9 14. Repeat the above list 3 – 13 for the 7 remaining LED target windows. Bob’s Space Racers Inc© 2015 Rescue One Fuse Update p.3 UPDATE THE LED LADDER ASSEMBLY 15. To update the LADDER LED TAPE, install the in-line fuse by performing the same procedure as the TARGET LED assemblies. Locate the ORANGE wire coming from the main harness. The orange wire is double pinned, use the single orange wire coming out of the black sleeve. NOTE: This will protect both sides of the ladder at the same time. Bob’s Space Racers Inc© 2015 Rescue One Fuse Update p.4 ADD FUSE TO TUBE LEDS Open the rear bottom door and locate the pass through holes to the LED tubes on both sides of the game. Locate the 4-pin connectors for each and disconnect them. Locate the orange wires that are double pinned into one plug. One of these orange wires connects to the other plug, and the other orange wire connects directly to the power supply. The orange wire connecting to the power supply will need to be fused. Bob’s Space Racers Inc© 2015 Rescue One Fuse Update p.5 DISCONNECT WINDOW LED AND BACKGROUND LED In the back of the game, you will find 3 plugs that connect to the window LED lights (for the shop windows below the targets) and the background LED’s (this runs vertically in the middle of the background behind the middle row of lights). We strongly recommend you disconnect these LED strips as they are prone to fail and cause over current issues. If you feel you must keep using these, you can add and inline fuse to the ORANGE wire. However these LED tapes have a high probability of getting wet and short out. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED JUST TO DISCONNECT & DO NOT USE THESE LED STRIPS WHY DO MY FUSES KEEP BLOWING? The cause of the fuses blowing is that an LED has failed and needs to be replaced. When the fuse blows it is an indication that something is wrong and needs to be addressed. That is why fuses are need so that if a part fails, then the fuse will blow instead of the power supplies, main logic boards or anything else that is connected to the same circuit. ONLY REPLACE THE FUSE WITH 1AMP FAST-ACTING FUSES! If you install a higher rated fuse, then the fuse may not fail in the event of a failing component. This may cause catastrophic problems! Also if the fuse is under rated (less than 1amp) then the fuse may blow constantly and require you to have to change it constantly. If an LED has failed, disconnect the plug and do not power the LED strip REVISION INFORMATION REVISION 1.0 DATE May 7, 2015 REASON FOR REVISION Preliminary Draft If you require further assistance, please contact Bob’s Space Racers Technical Support at 386-677-0761 ext 41 or send an email to [email protected].
