Installing Gio 5 Several VXL Instruments thin client models come pre-installed with the Gio 5 operating system. To install the Gio 5 operating system on a J-Series thin client, follow the instructions provided in this Installation Guide.
Prerequisites •
A USB flash/pen drive with a capacity of 2 GB or above.
•
Windows7 or Windows7 2008R2 PC/Client (for USB flash/pen drive preparation).
•
J series Hardware.
•
A Gio 5 installation .ISO file.
•
Gio imaging Tool (Executable on Windows7 or Windows7 2008R2 PC/Client). Note: For hardware and installation binaries please contact VXL Instruments Ltd.
Configuring an USB Flash Drive as a Gio 5 Bootable Device To configure an USB flash / pen drive as a GIO 5 Bootable Device, as a prerequisite log into a system with administrative privilege and run the Gio Imaging Tool (GIO IT.exe). The Installation Wizard appears.
Browse and locate the destination folder click Next.

Once the installation is complete the Gio IT shortcut is created on the desktop. To configure an USB key as a Gio 5 Bootable Device: 1. Double-click the Gio IT shortcut, The Gio Imaging Tool window appears.

Browse and select the image file (.iso).

3. Select the flash drive to be configured as a Gio 5 bootable device.
4. Click Create Disk. The following warning appears.
5. Click Yes. The flash drive is formatted.
The disk creation process starts.

6. Once the process is complete, remove the USB key and close the Gio IT tool.
The USB flash drive is configured as a GIO 5 bootable device. Note: •
Do not remove the USB flash drive during the process.

The background process will exist on forcible exit.
•
The maximum time taken to configure an USB flash drive as a bootable device is 5 min.

Installation Note: The installation procedure will take around 25 minutes. To install Gio 5 on your thin client from your Gio 5 bootable USB flash drive: 1. Insert the Gio 5 bootable USB flash drive in the USB port of your thin client. 2. Switch on the thin client. The VXL logo appears and the monitor screen goes blank. Wait for 90 to 100 seconds.
. 3. The Gio 5 installer appears. Note: Press the tab key to select options.

4. From the Language option drop-down list, select a system language.
5. From the Time Zone drop-down list, select your time zone.

6. From the Keyboard Type drop-down list, select your preferred input keyboard type.
7. Click Install. The Gio 5 installation Welcome screen appears. The installation progress bar indicates the progress of the Gio 5 installation.
Once the installation process is complete, the following message appears.
8. Press any key. The Thin Client shuts down. 9. Remove the USB key and turn on the Thin Client. Installing Gio 5

Once the thin client restarts, the Gio 5 operating system welcome screen appears.
