I-AB-105A IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS http://www.sunnen.com FOR USING SUNNEN PLATEAU HONING TOOLS on SUNNEN® MPS HONE HEAD MODULES TWO TEETH .275in (7mm) INSTALLATION: Because the height of the PHT Brush Assemblies is greater than Stone Assemblies, normally used with this tool; it is necessary to extend each Guide Master Holder away from the Hone Body. • Extend Guide Master Holder a distance corresponding to two (2) rack teeth, prior to inserting Pinion into Hone Body (approximately .275 in. / 7 mm). OPERATING TIPS: When Hone Head is placed into workpiece and expanded, there will be approximately 0.1 in. (2,5 mm) clearance between bore and guides when brushes first touch bore. CAUTION: Excessive-honing pressure will crush brushes. Limit feed pressure, applying only enough force to stabilize tool in workpiece and produce slight filament deflection. Unlike a honing stone, increasing feed pressure will not significantly increase material removal rate. • When tool is expanded under appropriate brushing pressure, at least one guide must be loose. • When brush wear causes guides to bear against workpiece with full honing pressure, guides must be reduced in height. Ideally, tool should operate with very slight clearance, so guides only experience a small fraction of the force applied to brushes. “SUNNEN AND THE SUNNEN LOGO ARE REGISTERED TRADEMARKS OF SUNNEN PRODUCTS COMPANY.” 7910 Manchester Road • St. Louis, MO 63143 U.S.A. • Ph: 314-781-2100 • Fax: 314-781-2268 U.S.A.
