PREPARATION FOR USE • Before using the steamer for the first time, wash the 3 steam baskets, rice bowl, cover, speed steam adapter and drip tray in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. • Use a damp cloth to wipe the base unit inside and out. • Position the appliance on a firm, flat and level surface. • Install the speed steam adapter (with the small cut-out downwards) over the raised ring surrounding the heating element. Speed Steam Adaptor
Reservoir Cap
Base unit
Fill chamber
• Use a jug to directly fill the reservoir in the base unit with cold tap water until the water level is between the MIN and MAX markings. To keep the water level topped up during use, remove the cap and carefully pour water from a jug into the fill chamber. • Place the drip tray in position over the reservoir. IMPORTANT: Never put stock, seasoning, herbs or any liquid other than water into the water reservoir TIP: To accelerate the warm-up period, hot (but not boiling) water from the kettle can be used.
USING YOUR STEAMER - QUICK GUIDE • Prepare the steamer for use and fill the water reservoir as detailed above • Choose the appropriate basket configuration, as detailed in the sections below • Place food in baskets ready to be steamed. Do not add liquid. Arrange the food around the centre of the basket so that it does not block the steam vents. Do not overfill or food may not be evenly cooked. • Place the cover in position on the top basket • Plug the steamer in and switch on at the mains supply. NOTE: The steamer will not start until the timer is set. • Use the timer to set the appropriate cooking time (see guide tables) • Pay attention to the water level during steaming and top up if it falls below the minimum level using the fill chamber • The timer will ping when steaming time is finished. • Unplug the steamer. • Using oven gloves, carefully remove the cover to release the steam. • Using oven gloves, carefully remove the basket(s) to serve the food. • Always ensure food is cooked through and piping hot before serving. • Allow the steamer to cool completely before emptying the reservoir.

THE TIMER To set the timer, rotate the dial clockwise to the desired time. Once the timer is set, the steamer will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate. When the timer reaches zero it will ‘ping’ and switch off the power to the steamer.
WATCHING THE WATER LEVEL The appliance must never be allowed to boil dry. Always fill between the MIN and MAX levels before operating the appliance. Do not overfill. When filled to the MAX level (approx 900ml) there should be sufficient water for approx one hour of steaming. However, it is important to check the water level regularly and top up as required during use via the fill chamber.
USING A SINGLE STEAMING BASKET Any of the three baskets can be used on their own. Fill the reservoir, place the basket over the drip tray, add food and the cover and use as above.
USING MULTIPLE BASKETS When using multiple baskets for foods with the same cooking time: Fill the reservoir, stack the filled baskets over the drip tray with the cover on the uppermost basket and use as above. When using multiple baskets for foods with different cooking times: Fill the reservoir, place foods requiring a longer cooking time in the lowest bowl over the drip tray. Cover the lowest bowl. Calculate the initial cooking time by subtracting the cooking time for the second item from the cooking time for the first (longest) item. Set the timer accordingly. When the timer pings, carefully remove the cover using oven gloves and place the next basket on top. Replace the cover and set the timer for the next stage of cooking. Repeat with the final basket (if used) for the remaining cooking time. IMPORTANT: Always place raw meat, poultry or fish in the lowest basket so that the juices from the raw or partially cooked foods do not drip into other foodstuffs.

USING THE RICE BOWL Fill the reservoir, place a single basket over the drip tray. Measure rice and water into the rice bowl according to the cooking guide. Position the rice bowl centrally inside the basket and put on the cover. Steam for the appropriate cooking time (see cooking guide)..
USING THE STEAMER BASKET WITH EGG RACK One of the three steamer baskets has indents designed to hold up to six eggs for steaming. The eggs MUST be pricked before cooking. They should be placed vertically in the indents. Steam for the recommended time (see cooking guide).
HINTS & TIPS • Always check the water level regularly and don’t allow the steamer to boil dry • Steaming times are given only as a guide. Times will vary depending on the size, freshness and spacing of food in the bowl, as well as personal preference. • As you become familiar with the steamer, cooking times can be adjusted to suit. • A single layer of food steams faster than several layers, therefore cooking times may need to be adjusted to suit. • Avoid overloading the steaming baskets. • When steaming larger quantities of food, remove the lid halfway through cooking and stir the food using a long handled utensil. Make sure to wear oven gloves. • The liquid in the drip tray can be used in sauces and gravies • Only add salt when cooking is complete and the bowl has been removed from the steamer. This will prolong the life of the heating element. • Always place larger pieces of food or those with a longer cooking time in the lower baskets. • When using multiple baskets you may place different types of food in the different baskets but remember that condensation will drip from the upper to lower levels, so make sure that the flavours complement each other. • When using multiple baskets, always place raw meat, poultry or fish in the lowest basket so that the juices from the raw or partially cooked foods do not drip into other foodstuffs.

COOKING GUIDE The following tables should be used as guidelines only. Timings will vary according to the size and shape of the food. Timings may also need to be adjusted to suit personal preference. All food should always be checked to ensure it is piping hot and cooked through before serving. Fresh Vegetables Wash vegetables, cut into even size pieces and cook according to the guidelines below. Remember that the size and shape of the vegetable pieces, as well as the quantity, will have an effect on the cooking time. It is always best to check the vegetables after the minimum recommended time and cook for longer only if required. If cooking more than one layer of vegetables, arranging them in a criss-cross pattern will help the steam penetrate more evenly. Cooking time for several layers will be longer than for a single layer. Frozen vegetables do not require defrosting before cooking, but will usually require slightly longer cooking times. Where possible, for frozen vegetables, follow packaging guidelines for cooking times. Item
