Description The bridge-breaker for Weigh Scale Blender Models WSB-940 & WSB-1840 is actuated by a 2” stroke, double-acting, pneumatic air cylinder. It is plumbed to operate concurrently with the dispense gate of the offending material, usually Regrind.

Instructions 1. Ensure that all compartments of the main hopper are empty. 2. Set toggle switch on MAGUIRE Controller left end plate to “IMMEDIATE PAUSE”. 3. Shut off air supply to blender. 4. Identify the Regrind compartment. This will be the compartment nearest the WSB Controller. This, of course, is assuming that you are installing the bridge-breaker in the Regrind compartment. 5. If you have not previously done so, remove the “finger-guard” grid from the regrind compartment. 6. Bolt the Bridge-Breaker Guide Bracket to the hopper partition using the two holes where the finger-guard had been mounted. Use (2) ¼-20 x ¾” cap screws and (2) ¼20 nylok nuts. 7. Bolt the air cylinder support bracket to the partition using existing holes. You must remove (2) existing #8-32 x 3/8” cap screws/nylok nuts. Replace them with the (2) #10-24 x 5/8” cap screws/nylok nuts supplied with your kit. Assemble as shown in the illustration. 8. Install the Bridge Breaker Guide and the Bridge Breaker plate as shown in the illustration. The plastic spacer should slide along the long slot in the plate, with the plate captive between the large washer and the guide bracket. 9. Install the air cylinder. Ensure that the air cylinder is oriented so that the air fittings are accessible. Use a Locktite to ensure that the air cylinder remains rigidly attached. 10. Bolt the air cylinder clevis to the bridge breaker plate using a ¼-20 x 1” cap screw and nylok nut. 11. Now thread the jam nut completely onto the air cylinder shaft. Carefully thread the air cylinder shaft into the clevis. 12. Check the movement of the bridge breaker plate to ensure that there is no interference. If adjustment is satisfactory, then tighten the jam nut against the clevis, after squirting some thread lock onto the shaft threads. 13. Identify the air-cylinder that operates the Regrind slide-gate. You will need to drill a Ø9/16” hole in the side of the hopper, somewhere above the regrind air-cylinder. It is best to locate this hole near the top of the hopper, so that no material leaks from the hopper. Also be sure that the hole will be below the edge of the hopper lid. (Hole should be approximately 1” down from top of hopper and 1” over from partition; see attached drawing) Install the rubber grommet, included in your kit, in this hole.

14. The bridge-breaker will be plumbed to operate simultaneously with this slide gate. Cut the pneumatic tubing line supplying the front of the air cylinder, that is, the port nearest the slide gate. Install one of the “Y” fittings at the cut, reconnecting the slide gate cylinder. From the other branch of the “Y”, run a pneumatic tubing line through the grommet, and into the press-in fitting on the back of the bridge breaker cylinder. 15. Now cut into the tubing at the back of the slide-gate cylinder, install the “Y”, and plumb to the front of the bridge-breaker cylinder. 16. This arrangement will cause the bridge-breaker to be extended whenever the slide gate retracts. 17. Turn on air supply to blender. 18. Test operation of the bridge-breaker and Regrind slide gate using the “OPERATE” mode on the WSB Controller (refer to WSB Operations Manual). KEEP HANDS CLEAR!!! Ensure that the Regrind slide gate is closed normally and opens during each dispense try. If this is not so, you have switched the air lines from the solenoid valves to the slide gate air cylinder. Simply reverse the air lines to correct. 19. Return the toggle switch to “CONTINUE”. Return blender to normal operation.
