AIMA3000 Advanced Intelligent Multi-services Access Platform
About the Product The Advanced Intelligent Multi-services Access (AIMA3000) is a high-integrity, high-density headend platform to enable MSO operators to build or upgrade their networks to meet today and future multi-services access requirements. The AIMA3000 simplifies MSO operator’s transition to IP Networks by providing a complete range of intelligent, interoperable, RF and optical modules for HFC, RFoG, PON video overlay and other applications. The design employs a 19” rack of 4RU height, with 17 slots (0~16) for high-density application modules and integrated front and rear fibre-access panel for easy fibre management. Slot 0 is used for a System Management Module (ASMM). Slots 1~16 can be used for any of the application modules. This provides capability for a maximum of 32 standard forward-path laser transmitters, or for 64 QAM laser transmitters, or for 64 return-path receivers. Comprehensive control and monitoring of the AIMA3000 is done by the ASMM module. The ASMM module has front and rear Ethernet ports which provide access to both an integrated web-server and an SNMP agent. The web-server delivers HTTP/XML status monitoring pages which include any AIMA3000 monitoring points to provide fast and reliable status updates. The AIMA3000 chassis (ACHA) can be accessed through an IP network with either the NMS3-NetCraft field tool or via the NMS3-Enterprise-II management suite for network operating centres, as well as the optional hand-held controller (AHHC) via the front USB port. As a crucial element in any small or large city optical network, the AIMA3000 is designed with hot-swappable application modules that retain their own settings and allow for continuous system operation without being dependent on any central module, providing uninterrupted services to subscribers.

Remote Monitoring and Control During normal operation the AIMA3000’s System Management Module (ASMM) runs in status-monitoring mode when it continuously checks the entire AIMA3000 chassis for major alarm conditions. If any of the plugin modules reports a problem, an alarm condition is reported via SNMP traps, via SNMP polling, via a voltage-free alarm contact, and via a colour change in the master web page. The ASMM also monitors various other module parameters for minor alarm conditions. The AIMA3000 platform includes an SNMP agent and a web server for monitoring via a web browser. The SNMP agent and web server are available through the System Management Module (ASMM) with two Ethernet RJ45 ports, one for system wide NMS3 Network Management and one for local configuration. The web server library includes HTML/XML pages that can be used to poll for any and all status monitoring points in the chassis, using a single GET request with a single XML response file. This speeds up the data collection and makes the status image at the network operating centre database more accurate. Each ASMM module is supplied with a CD containing the PBN MIB as well as the latest version NMS3NetCraft software for Windows XP/Vista/7 workstations. The PBN MIB conforms to the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) published HMS standard MIBs. The AIMA3000 is fully compatible with PBN’s NMS3-Enterprise-II and NMS3-EPSM, BarcoNet ROSA, HP Open View, CA Unicenter, Castle Rock, NuDesign and with many other standards-based SNMP monitoring packages. Please refer to our datasheets for NMS3-NetCraft, Enterprise-II and NMS3-EPSM for more details on the comprehensive network management features, operational support systems, also provisioning and billing systems.

Specifications Chassis (ACHA) Module slots
17 slots for AIMA3000 plug-and-play modules. Slot 0 is used for the System Management Module (ASMM). Slots 1~16 are used for any of the Application Modules.
Alarms
Requires an ASMM module in slot 0. Alarms are available via SNMP traps to multiple destinations, via a free voltage NO/NC alarm contact, via SNMP polling, via HTTP polling, or via the optional hand-held controller (AHHC).
Monitoring and control
Requires an ASMM module in slot 0 and optional hand-held controller (AHHC). The chassis can also be controlled through a netbook or laptop connected to one of the Ethernet ports or the USB port on the AIMA3000’s ASMM module. Remote control and monitoring by network operating centres is possible via SNMP and HTTP. All module settings are retained in NV memory to ensure trouble-free operation.
Power (APSA & APSD) Power supply modules
Up to two hot-swappable power supply modules in the AIMA3000 chassis. Any one power supply can handle a fully-loaded chassis. Two power supplies provide load-sharing when > 10 A and redundancy in case of a single power supply failure. Both universal mains (APSA) and battery (APSD) models are available. It is possible to use one mains module and one battery module in the same chassis.
