MMH-Series Benefits Reduce costs of multiple phone lines Sync/Async Multiplexer Sync composite link connectivity Error-free data transmissions The MultiMux MMH-Series statistical multiplexer consolidates up to eight data channels for transmission over one synchronous or asynchronous analog, ISDN or digital line. This multiplexer has a solid reputation as a reliable multi-user solution and is ideal for small to midsize companies that want to connect remote terminals and PCs to a central site legacy system. Features 128K Sync/Async Statistical Multiplexer for Data • One sync/128K or async/115.2K composite link • Four or eight async/115.2K data channels • Support for analog, BRI ISDN, or DDS service • Diagnostics for testing the components of the network, including loop tests, switch and LED tests, and memory tests • Automated statistical reporting for network management and troubleshooting • Local and remote configuration using a terminal or modem • Built-in command modem for remote configuration with US and Canadian models • Internal or external modem or DSU connection • Two-year warranty MultiMux™ Maximize Data Link Efficiency. The MultiMux is a statistical time division multiplexer. It aggregates bandwidth allowing active users to share all of the available bandwidth, unlike frequency and time division multiplexers. Frequency and time division multiplexers dedicate a portion of the bandwidth to each user. So even when a channel is inactive, the bandwidth cannot be used by others. Highlights Improve Data Integrity. Asynchronous devices gain improved accuracy when connected to the MultiMux. Features supported by the MultiMux include, buffering, flow control, and pacing features. This means the MultiMux supports high traffic levels without compromising data integrity. Applications. The MultiMux is typically used to connect asynchronous terminals, PCs, and other devices in a remote office to an AS/400 , UNIX host or other legacy system. In point-of-sale applications, the MultiMux connects all locations to the host for live inventory levels and automates the ordering process; in the medical industry, it connects remote clinics with medical specialists in distant cities; and in any business application, it combines legacy and LAN networks and adds interoffice e-mail. ® ® Cost-Savings. A MultiMux can reduce your data communication costs by eliminating multiple data lines at one site and eliminating modems for each asynchronous device. Scalable. The MultiMux makes it easy to grow as your networking demands grow. You can start with four channels. Then if demand grows, you can easily add and cost-justify another 4-channel card. In applications requiring more channels or voice, the scalable MultiMux MMV supports up to 32 channels. For more information see data sheet 86000318. Remote Configuration and Management. The MultiMux provides remote configuration and management capabilities using the built-in command modem (US/Canada) or an external modem connected to the command port (Intl). From the central site you can configure channels, gather usage statistics, and run diagnostics. In addition, while you are making changes, all of the data channels remain operational. Connect to High-Bandwidth Digital Service. The Multi-Tech MultiDSU family is a combination Data Service Unit/Channel Service Unit (DSU/CSU) used to connect the MultiMux to a high-bandwidth digital service. Go to www.multitech.com for a complete listing of DSU/CSUs. Ease into New Technologies. The MultiMux allows you to cost-effectively maintain the integrity of your current system as you move to newer LAN technologies. Add a Multi-Tech MultiFRAD between the MultiMux and the MultiDSU to consolidate the MultiMux network and any LAN-based operations over cost-saving frame relay network services.
