System 5000 MF/HF Profiling Tool version 2 Installation and User Instruction The System 5000 Profiling Tool is an application program by which the serial number of System 5000 MF/HF 150W, 250W or 500W transceiver unit (TU) may be uploaded and stored electronically in the transceiver unit. Uploading of the serial number to the transceiver unit is required when having replaced the Control/Interconnection Module of the transceiver unit during e.g. an onboard service attendance. The presence of the serial number in the transceiver is essential for the reenabling or future enabling of DSC (6Ch. Watch Receiver) option and/or Telex option. The Profiling Tool may also be used to program option keys (pin codes) or read out already programmed option keys.

Connect the service cable – S-532506 MF/HF Download Cable – to CU at the >Data< port. MF/HF Download Cable available here: http://shop.thrane.com/01_0124_012405MF_HF_Down_load_Cable-C3304-P23485.aspx
Select Unit type “CU” and press “Get Info” to establish connection between PC and Control Unit (CU)
To save the Telex Key and DSC Key (pin codes) read out to the PC, press the “floppy disk” icon

CU – pin code programming
NOTE: Telex and DSC Keys can only be programmed via the Control Unit (CU)
Select Unit type “CU” and press “Get Info” to establish connection between PC and Control Unit (CU)
Type the applicable pin code(s) into the appropriate field and press >Program< to store pin code(s) to TU.

NOTE: Main Processor & Interconnection Boards already programmed with a TU S/N are blocked for further programming.

Select Unit type “TU” and press “Get Info” to establish connection between PC and Transceiver Unit (TU)
If the TU s/n read out shows all zeroes or otherwise does not match the s/n stated on type label, the electronically stored s/n is invalid. This implies that the applicable Telex and DSC Keys cannot be generated and used for activation of these options in the unit.

Connecting to TU for serial number programming
TU s/n programming will only be possible in new or reconditioned ‘Main Processor & Interconnection Boards’ as delivered from T&T (s/n value not set)
Change unit type to “TU” Press >Get Info < Check that the “Serial Number” field is empty Check info window to verify that Serial Number and DSC Class are both indicated as “Not set”
Set >DSC Class< to “A”. NOTE 1: comprise functionality restricted to only.
DSC Class E reduced DSC and approval is certain markets
Type in serial number as stated on the TU type label. NOTE 2: Once programmed both the DSC class selection and serial number entry cannot be changed. Therefore, make sure these settings are correct before storing the entries to the TU. Press >Program<
