Mag634 Surveillance Magnetometer This low-noise three-axis magnetic sensor has been designed to detect and locate very small fluctuations in the ambient magnetic field. Together with its two-part construction, low power consumption and environmental protection, this makes it ideal for use in checkpoints and for intruder detection. A low-noise specification and band pass filtering combine to reject higher frequency noise and to maximise the sensitivity of readings. Thus background interference from vehicles or people can be filtered out and the sensor can detect small magnetic fluctuations on an individual that may for example indicate a hand gun, a shrapnel pack or a dagger. The two-part construction allows the sensor to be placed discreetly at a distance of up to 20 metres from the electronics. It can be used as part of a multi-sensor array to cover a wide area or in a location such as a checkpoint to build up a comprehensive profile of anyone passing through. The Mag634 is environmentally sealed against dust and for operation in wet conditions, and can be powered from a poorly regulated 12V DC supply, so that it can be employed both indoors and outdoors.
