How to use CrossTec SchoolVue Tutor 1. Double Click on CrossTec SchoolVue Tutor icon
2. The first thing you will see is the Class Wizard window
3. Type in your name and lesson title a. All other information is optional 4. Click OK 5. CrossTec SchoolVue Tutor will search for all computers in that room. a. It will display them as icon in the Control Window ( The blue area of the window)
6. The three tools you will use the most are located in the top tool bar
a. Lock – Locks the student’s keyboard, mouse and screen b. Unlock – Unlocks the student’s keyboard, mouse and screen c. Blank All – Blacks out the student’s screen ( Unblank the screen chick Blank All again) 7. Other important tools on the tool bar are: a. Show Menu which is split into 6 sub tools i. Show – Show your screen to the students ii. Show Video – Show a video to the students iii. Show Replay – Show a replay file to the students iv. Show Application – Show a running application on your computer to the student v. Exhibit – Show one student’s screen to other vi. End Show – End the current show b. When running a show the CrossTec SchoolVue Tutor Show window will appear allowing you select different option i. Note: When running a show the CrossTec SchoolVue Tutor screen will disappear. To end a show you must Right Click on the play icon
on the right side of the taskbar and click End Show.
c. Co-Browse – Browse the Internet with the students i. Co-Browser window appears type in Address and click Go or Enter 8. Your next set of tools you will use are on the left side of the screen. They are the display view tools.

Normal view – Displays a set of icon for the computers

Monitor View – View what is on the student’s screen 1. Update – Change the frequency that student screens are updated 2. Size – Change the size of the student image 3. Auto – Automatically size the students screen to fit the window

Audio View – Monitor audio activity on student’s computer 1. Listen – Listen to audio activity at the selected student 2. Mute Sound – Mute the sound on all student computers 3. Announce – Send an announcement to the select student 4. Volume – Set your volume level 5. Mic – Show microphone activity on student’s computer 6. Headphone – Show headset/speaker activity on student computer

Website access – Allow you to create a list of approved and/or restricted websites 1. To add website to the Approved or restricted Websites click on the plus sign in the Approved or restricted windows. Website Properties window appears type in the URL and click OK. 2. To remove Approved or restricted Websites highlight the URL and click on the red X 3. New – Create a new website list 4. Load – Load an existing website list 5. Unrestricted – Allow unrestricted access to website 6. Approved Only – Only allow approved websites to be accessed 7. Block restricted – Block access to restricted websites 8. Restrict All – Restrict all access to websites 9. Safe Search – Eliminate inappropriate material returned from supported search engines 10. Block FTP – Block access to FTP sites

Applications – Manage which applications the students can access. 1. To add applications to the Approved or restricted applications click on the plus sign in the Approved or restricted windows. Applications Properties window click on the browse button to look for the application. 2. To remove Approved or restricted applications highlight the application and click on the red X 3. New – Create a new application list 4. Load – Load an existing application list 5. Allow All – Allow unrestricted access to applications. 6. Approved Only – Only allow approved application to be used. 7. Block Restricted – Block use of restricted applications

Student Surveys – Create surveys for the class.

Instant Messenger status – Monitor IM activity on student computers. 1. Monitor – Monitor Instant Messenger activity 2. Block – Block access to Instant Messenger

Device Control – Control access to audio, USB, CD/DVD devices 1. CD/DVD – Control access to CD/DVD devices a. Unrestricted b. Read Only c. Block Access d. Allow Execute e. Prevent Execute 2. USB – Control access to USB mass storage devices a. Unrestricted b. Read Only

Keyboard – Monitor student’s realtime keyboard input. 1. Create a list of target words and inappropriate words. To add word to the lists click on the plus sign in the Target words and/or inappropriate words. Words window appears type in the words and click OK. 2. To remove target words and inappropriate words highlight the word and click on the red X 3. Monitor – Monitor keyboard activity

Whiteboard – Use an interactive whiteboard with the students 1. Show – Turn the Whiteboard on/off for selected Students 2. File – Whiteboard file commands a. Save Whiteboard b. Save Selection c. Load Image d. Add to Journal 3. Edit - Whiteboard edit commands a. Clear Whiteboard b. Insert Image c. Copy d. Paste e. Undo f. Redo 4. Tool – Whiteboard tools a. Ex: Brush, Line, Arrow, Fill, etc….. 5. Color – Change the color of lines, text, arrows, fill, etc…. 6. Line Width – Change the size of lines 7. Font – Change the font , style and size 8. Undo – undo last change 9. Redo – redo last change
