INSTRUCTION SHEET Yamaha Switch Replacement Fresno, California 93727-1328 (559) 292-2171 • (800) 456-8168 Please Carefully read and understand the following instructions before beginning this replacement. Fig. 1.1 Tools Required: 2.5mm Hex Key 4mm Hex Key 11mm Socket 17mm Socket #2 Phillips Screwdriver Needle nose pliers Parts Required: Switch Replacement Kit Yamaha Switch Assembly (Fig 1.1) Part # 133102 Yamaha Adapter (Fig 1.2) 122337 Part # 122337 Fig. 1.2 Note: Please remove the battery before performing any maintenance on the Xtender unit. Note: Please refer to Part #107003 (Yamaha Plate assembly instructions) for removal of the Plate assembly. 1. After removing plate assembly, (see note) use a 17mm socket and remove the nut securing the wheelchair axle to the Xtender unit (Fig 1.3) SUNRISE MEDICAL 107004 REV. B Fig. 1.3 MAY 2012 PAGE 1 OF 4 2. Once the axle nut is removed, the wheel assembly and motor assembly can be seperated (Fig 2.1). Fig. 2.1 3. Set the Wheel assembly aside, and lay the motor assembly on a flat surface. 4. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the 2 screws (A) & (B) that secure the battery cover shroud to the motor assembly. One is located on the bottom of the battery box (Fig 2.2) and the other is located inside the battery holder (Fig 2.3). Fig. 2.2 A Fig. 2.3 B SUNRISE MEDICAL 107004 REV. B MAY 2012 PAGE 2 OF 4 5. Locate the 2 wires that thread behind the battery cover. When removing the Switch Assembly, only unplug the small black connector (C) that attaches the Switch Assembly to the main harness (Fig 3.1). Fig. 3.1 6. Cut any plastic wire ties that secure the smaller black wire. Using a pair of needle nose pliers,gently unbend the strap securing the wire (Fig 3.1). C 7. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, gently bend the tabs that secure the cable around the Xtender Axle (Fig 3.2). Fig. 3.2 8. Using a 4mm Hex Key, and 11mm socket disconnect the switch from the Xtender unit by removing the hardware, (2 sets) that secure the switch unit to the switch bracket (Fig 3.3). B MAY 2012 PAGE 3 OF 4 **Note: Pay careful attention when disconnecting Power line, the battery has to be completely removed from the assembly for safe installation of the new switch and adapter. Fig. 4.1 9. Disconnect the Powerline connector (D) (fig 4.1). Switch side Unplug D Powerline side 10. Connect the adapter (Fig 4.2) to the power line side, then connect the new 2 plug switch connectors (Fig 4.3) to the matching plugs on the adapter (switch side). Fig. 4.2 Switch side Powerline side 11. Reverse Procedures 1-8 to Re-assemble the Xtender unit and Wheel.
