If you run a business that involves plenty of printing on a daily basis, then you’ll want a printer that’s easy to maintain, has an efficient ink system and most importantly, has ink that can be replaced easily. Epson’s L1300 meets all these requirements, so if you’re interested in getting a new A3 printer, this review will be of interest to you. The first thing you’ll want to know about this printer is the fact that it comes with an external ink tank system. This allows it to print up to 7,100 pages of black and white printouts, thanks to two black ink cartridges. In fact, the L1300 is the world’s first printer to have a 4-color ink tank system, with two tanks dedicated to black ink. When it comes to color prints, you’d be able to get approximately 5,500 pages. Once you’ve run out of ink, refilling is as easy as detaching the ink tanks and pouring in the ink from 70ml bottles. if you print floor plans, charts, business reports and even CAD drawings. Of course, it also prints your regular A4 printouts, so there’s no need to worry if you primarily work with A4sized papers. In terms of print quality, there’s no need to worry as the L1300 comes with Epson’s renowned Micro Piezo printhead technology. This enables the L1300 to print images that are high in resolution – 5,760 DPI to be exact. While it isn’t marketed as a photo printer, the L1300 is more than capable of printing high-quality photos for both A4 and A3 prints. To find out exactly how fast this printer performs, we sat down and printed a total of 25 black and white pages filled with text in one minute and 10 seconds, which comes very close to the advertised print speeds. We then took things further with 25 pages of text and colored images, and found that it managed to print these pages within two minutes 40 seconds.
Interface USB 2.0 Hi-Speed This is rather impressive for a printer in this class. Finally, we printed a number of photos to determine the image quality. We’re happy to report that the resolution is respectable and color accuracy is also relatively accurate, but not perfect. However, we’d like to reiterate that the L1300 is not a printer optimized for photo printing, but its print quality comes very close to one.
