 2 Secure by turning the two screws down to point at the lock symbol on both sides of the controller accessory cap base. 2 Attach the antenna cable to the antenna. The Trimble R3 GPS system is now ready to use. Step 6 – Attach the Antenna Cable 1 Attach the antenna cable to the connector at the top of the GPS receiver. Trimble® R3 System Quick Reference Card Step 1 – Check the Trimble R3 Package Contents Check that your product packaging contains the following items: • R3 GPS receiver • Receiver carry pouch • System field case • HI tape • Trimble Recon® controller accessory cap base • Antenna cable • Tripod bracket Step 2 – Charge the PowerBoot Module 1 Take the controller out of its packaging. 6 Select the correct outlet adaptor for your country, and then plug the AC adaptor into an electrical supply. 2 The PowerBoot™ Module, which is detached for shipping, contains the battery. 3 Attach the PowerBoot Module by sliding it into the opening on the back of the controller. 4 Secure the PowerBoot Module, using a stylus or screw driver, by turning the two camlock screws a half turn to lock. Step 4 – Attach the Accessory Cap Base • Ensure that the surfaces are clean and that the gasket is flat and not bunched up. • Secure the accessory cap base to your controller by using a stylus or screw driver to tighten the two screws in the top. Step 3 – Remove the CF-Cap The Recon controller is delivered with the CF-Cap™ attached. • Remove it by loosening the two screws located on top of the CF-Cap using a stylus or screw driver. Step 5 – Mount the GPS Receiver to the Controller 1 Push the Compact Flash card end of the R3 GPS receiver into the Compact Flash card slot closest to the screen on the controller (port 1). 5 Plug the AC adaptor into the port of the PowerBoot Module. There are two ports available on the controller. To avoid damage, make sure that you do not put one edge of the CF card into port 1 and the other into port 2.
