The STV0360 is a high performance single-chip COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplex) demodulator with built-in A/D converter. It performs all the demodulation functions required to extract the MPEG transport stream from the tuner IF output and connects seamlessly to ST’s industry standard STi55xx OMEGA set-top box decoders. The STV0360 provides, amongst others, the following key features: • Compliance with DVB-T (ETS 300 744) and NORDIG II specifications • Inputs for direct IF, eliminating the need for a down-converter in the tuner • Adaptative channel correction in both time and frequency, providing excellent performance, even in the presence of noise or significant Doppler shift • Dual Automatic Gain Controller (AGC) to seamlessly interface with all tuners characteristics • Support for 2K/8K carrier detection modes • Automatic mode, puncture rate and guard detection • Advanced automatic pre-echo problem resolution (SFN mode) – supporting 6, 7 and 8 MHz channels • Fast scanning acquisition mode • Embedded impulsive noise reduction • Tri-state parallel and serial data output • Very low power consumption (less than 500 mW) • PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier ) increasing flexibility to enhance tuner power matching • Additional A/D converter to directly monitor the input level of the new generation of tuners • Small 64-pin TQFP package

EVAL0360 Development Platform A comprehensive evaluation platform is provided with the STV0360 single-chip COFDM demodulator, including a scalable evaluation board and a complete set of software drivers. The platform significantly reduces the time to develop customized, feature-rich terrestrial set-top boxes and accelerates product introduction cycles.
An attractive very low-cost demo platform based on the STV0360 and STi5518 chipset (code-named ‘Digital Converter Brick’) is exhibited as a show-case package with optimized memory footprint and EPG software based on STAPI DVB reference tree. This design is scalable and ready to support HDD and middleware such as MHEG-5, MediaHighway or OpenTV. Schematics and Bill of Materials of this demo board are available on request.
