Site Supervisor Display Installation Guide
The Site Supervisor Display (P/Ns 818-9022 and 818-9023) is a remote user interface for the Site Supervisor (P/N 860-1200) that connects to the controller using RS485 network to Serial Port D, and shows a simplified UI that allows users to perform critical actions in the controller quickly and easily such as overriding lights, heating and cooling stages, viewing alarms, and status information.
General Warnings and Safety Precautions • This guide is part of the product and should be kept near the instrument for quick and easy reference. • The Display should not be used for purposes different from those described in this guide. It cannot be used as a safety device. • Check the application limits before proceeding. • Emerson Retail Solutions reserves the right to change the composition of its products, even without notice, ensuring the same and unchanged functionality. • When using an external power supply, it is necessary to separate the power of the device from the rest of the electrical devices connected inside the electrical panel. The secondary of the transformer must never be connected to earth ground. • Disconnect all electrical connections before any kind of maintenance is performed. Do not open the Site Supervisor Display. • Check that the supply voltage is correct before connecting. • Do not expose to water or moisture: use the controller only within its operating limits to avoid sudden temperature changes with high atmospheric humidity to prevent condensation. • Wire polarity must be observed: A wrong connection may cause possible malfunctioning and damage to the controller or Display.

Pull the Display body off the Display base. Forcing or prying on the Display will cause damage to the unit. Place the base over the wall opening and mark the mounting hole locations on the wall using the Display base as a template. Move the base out of the way and drill the mounting holes. If the mounting holes are too large and do not allow the base to be tightened securely, use the plastic screw anchors to secure the base. Fasten the base snugly to the wall using the mounting holes shown in the figure above and two mounting screws. Leveling is for appearance only and will not affect Display operation. Connect wires to the terminal block on the base using the appropriate wiring schematic. Push excess wire into the wall opening and plug the opening with a fire resistant material to prevent drafts from affecting Display operation. Carefully line up the Display with the base and snap into place.

Electrical Connections Observe the connection polarity of the Display: A wrong connection can cause malfunctioning and possible damage to the controller or the Display. An external power supply is necessary to separate the power of the device from the rest of the electrical devices connected inside the electrical panel. The secondary of the transformer must never be connected to earth ground.

Serial Line Cable Connection The serial line cable can be 3-wire plus shielding, with a minimum section of 0.5 sq mm (for example, Belden 8772). This cable is recommended for its technical characteristics and because it maintains the quality of the electrical signal. The shield wire should be clipped.
Firmware Upgrade - Remote Access 1. 2.
Download the latest firmware update file (for example, “SS_2.02F08_Firmware_Update) to a location on your PC. Connect a standard Ethernet cable from the Site Supervisor (ETH 0 port) to a router and enter the Site Supervisor IP address into a browser.
3.
Login and select Configure System>File Management from the main menu.
4. 5.
Before proceeding with the firmware update, click Backup (to back up configuration files). Once the backup is complete, click Upgrade Firmware and click Select. Browse and locate the latest firmware update file. Select the file and click Open or double-click the file to load. A Loading file message will appear (wait for several seconds). Once loaded, the Revision and File Size will display. Click Upgrade. A progress bar will appear with the percentage completed. The system will reboot and restart automatically when the upgrade is complete. Note that both the Display and Site Supervisor firmware will be updated simultaneously. The new firmware version number will appear in the lower right corner of the screen. Note that all setpoints and configurations will remain the same. If there are discrepancies, use the backup file to restore previous settings.

Firmware Upgrade - USB Drive 1.
4.
Copy the latest firmware update file (for example, “SS_2.02F08_Firmware_Update) to the root folder of a USB thumb drive (the USB thumb drive must be format FAT16). Verify the Display is completely powered up. Plug the USB thumb drive into the USB port (located on the back of the Display). An Application update? message will appear. Touch OK on the Display and the update will start. Audible tones will sound immediately to indicate the firmware has successfully updated. Remove the USB thumb drive.
