Handling Precautions Please read and follow the handling instructions for the battery before use. Improper use of the battery may cause heat, fire, explosion, damage or capacity deterioration of the battery. However, the manufacturer will not guarantee against any accident caused by the usage which is not written here.
DANGER 1 Do not disassemble or modify the battery. This will destroy the safety features built in the battery, and result in un-expected dangerous troubles. 2 Do not connect the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals with metal objects such as wire. 3 Do not transport or store the batteries with metal objects such as necklace, hair pin etc. Otherwise, shortcircuiting will occur, over-current will flow, causing the battery to overheat, smoke emission, bulge or ignite. 4 Do not throw the battery into a fire or heat it. 5 Do not dip or wet the battery in water, seawater or any types of liquid. 6 Do not use or store a battery at high temperature, such as in strong direct sunlight, in cars during hot weather, or directly in front of heaters. 7 Do not apply any impact to the battery, or throw away or drop it. Strong impact should damage the battery structure which may result in heat generation, smoke emission or ignition of the battery. 8 Do not drive a nail in, hit with a hammer, or stamp on the battery. Any abnormal stress will cause unexpected accidents. 9 Do not forget to ensure correct connection of terminals, positive (+) and negative (-) in the charger or any equipments in usage. QA-080110[10/13]
Handling Precautions 10 The battery to be charged must be placed on a non-flammable, heat resistant and non-conductive surface. Keep inflammable and volatile materials well away from the charging area. Batteries must not be left on charge unsupervised. 11 Do not charge the battery at a point above 4.2V per cell. Otherwise, the battery would be damaged permanently that can not be recovered. 12 Do not use any unqualified or not specified chargers by Kokam, and should keep the charging process specified by Kokam. Otherwise, it will cause heavy and/or permanent damage to the battery. 13 Do not discharge the battery at a point below 2.7V per cell. Otherwise, the battery would be damaged permanently that can not be recovered. 14 Do not connect the battery directly to an electric outlet or cigarette heater socket in a car. Applying a high voltage might generate an excessive current, and get an electric shock. Possibly leads to leak electrolyte, heat generation, smoke emission or ignition. 15 Do not use the battery for a purpose other than those specified. Otherwise, its guaranteed performance will be lost and/or its service life will be shortened. Depending on the equipment in which the battery is used, excessively high current can flow through battery, possibly damaging it and leading to leakage, heat generation, smoke emission or ignition, 16 In the event of electrolyte comes into contact with eyes, immediately wash thoroughly with clean water, and consult a physician. 17 Be careful that conductivity material should not touch on the surface of battery.
QA-080110[11/13]
Handling Precautions WARNING 1 Do not use the batteries mixed with primary batteries like dry batteries, other types of rechargeable like NiCd or Ni-MH or different capacity/voltage/manufacturer’s, 2
Stop charging process after predetermined charging period has elapsed, even though the batteries are not fully charged. Otherwise, the battery cause heat generation, smoke emission or ignition.
3 Do not put the battery in a microwave oven or a pressure cooker. Excessive heat could damage the seal of the battery and it will result in heat generation, smoke emission or ignition of the battery. 4
If you notice any malodor, heating, discoloration, deformation, or any other change from what you are used to while using, charging, storing the battery, take it out of equipment or charger, and stop using it.
5 If the battery leaks or emits a malodor, take it away from any exposed flame immediately. The electrolyte may catch fire, which may cause heat generation, smoke emission or ignition. 6
Do not use the battery in the place where the static electricity (more than the limit of the manufacturer's guarantee) exist.
7 Operating Environment; Charging the battery : 0℃ ~ +45℃
Discharging the battery : -20℃ ~ +60℃
Stored up to 30 days : -20℃ ~ +50℃ (SOC 50 %)
QA-080110[12/13]
Handling Precautions CAUTION 1 Do not use or leave the battery in a place exposed to strong direct sunlight, or in a car under the blazing sun, or high temperature sources. Otherwise, its guaranteed performance will be lost and/or its service life will be shortened. 2 If any abnormal appearance occurs such as odors, discoloration, deformation or overheating, remove the battery from the device and stop using. 3 Store the battery in a location where children cannot reach it. Also, make sure that a child does not take out the battery from the battery charger or equipment. 4 If the battery leaks and its electrolyte contact with skin or clothing, wash it well with clean water right away. Otherwise, skin inflammation can occur. 5 Follow the instructions of your equipment regarding the battery installation, and in any event of abnormal, remove the battery from the equipment so as not to misuse and waste the battery. 6 The battery would be delivered with SOC 50% for safety purposes. In case of your equipment will not work with this condition, you need to charge fully your battery before using. 7 In case of the battery terminals are contaminated, clean the terminals with a dry cloth before use. Otherwise, it could result in insufficient power supply and/or failure in charging. 8 Read carefully and follow the instructions for the specified charger to learn how to charge the battery.
