: Hookup for Playback and VCR Recording Before hookup Check your tuner This DVD-VCR does not include a tuner. To record TV programs on the DVD-VCR from a connected device, you need to connect the DVD-VCR to a tuner that has audio/video output jacks. This way, you can record TV programs. Follow the three steps below to connect, setup and make recordings on your DVD-VCR. If you have neither of the above tuners : You have : Cable Box/Satellite Receiver Without Video/Audio Output  Please contact your cable service or satellite service company to ask cable box or satellite receiver with video/audio output. Cable With No Cable Box  Please contact your cable service to ask cable box with video/ audio output. Which do you want to use? 2 Switch the TV input using the TV’s remote (usually INPUT or TV/VIDEO) so that the signal from the DVD-VCR appears on the TV screen. PROGRAM RETURN SETUP 2 Press / to select “Clock Set/ PLAY PAUSE STOP Adjust,” and press ENTER. Language Clock Set/Adjust Auto Power Off : Press  STOP. English [Off] ENTER DVD Record a TV program form the connected device using the timer VIDEO PROGRAM ENTER RETURN SETUP DISPLAY 3 Press / to set the time, and press . Set the date and year in sequence. The day of the week is set automatically. Time 12 : 00 AM Date 1 / 01 Year 2007 Mon DVD VIDEO PROGRAM ENTER RETURN TOP MENU RETURN MENU 1 Press SELECT VIDEO to control the VCR. 2 Insert a tape with its safety tab in place. CLOCK SET/ADJUST OPTION Keep the channel you want to record set on your cable box or satellite receiver, and leave it turned on. To stop recording OPTION SETUP OPTION speed, SP (Standard Play) or EP (Extended Play). [Off] DVD ENTER 5 Press SP/EP to select the tape in place. The  indicator appears in the display window and the VCR stands by for recording. Timer recording will operate properly regardless if the DVD-VCR is turned on or off. 8 Keep the channel you want to record set on your cable box or satellite receiver, and leave it turned on. To cancel the setting RETURN Press CLEAR in STEP 4. 4 Set L1 or L2, start and stop times, date, and tape speed. Press / to select each item, and / to set it. 5 Select a channel on your cable box or satellite receiver. hint Don’t know which device you are operating? If the remote does not seem to function, you may be operating your TV, not the DVD-VCR. Set the TV/DVD-VIDEO switch on the remote. Also, some buttons work only for the DVD player or the VCR. Be aware of the one you are controlling: check the “DVD” or “VIDEO” indicator in the display window and select by pressing SELECT DVD or SELECT VIDEO. 7 Press  RETURN to exit the 6 Press  to confirm the setting.
