TRAVEL CLOCK SM1974 FEATURES MSF RCC function (automatically receives 4 times per day). Clock can be manually forced to receive a signal. Calendar with weekday. 12/24 hour format selectable. Alarm with 5 minute snooze function. Backlight function. BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Slide off the battery cover at the back of the clock. 2. Insert two new AAA size batteries as per the Polarity indicated. 3. Secure the battery cover back into place. 4. If the unit works abnormally, re-install batteries. Polarity Illustration BATTERY WARNINGS 1. Do not use rechargeable batteries. 2. New and used batteries should not to be mixed. 3. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. 4. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. 5. Keep batteries away from children. 6. Dispose of exhausted batteries according to local legal requirements. Do not dispose of them by throwing away with normal household rubbish. 7. Do not put batteries into fire. POWER ON When the unit is powered on, the display will show the full indexes for 2 seconds and then it will show the default time and date setting. The RCC icon will flash and start to receive the time signal for a maximum of 8 minutes. If a signal is received successfully, the time will be updated and the RCC icon will become stationary. Otherwise the RCC icon will be off. The clock will try to receive the signal again through the day. When the signal is being received, pressing any key can abort the signal being received. MSF RADIO CONTROLLED SIGNAL The MSF signal is transmitted from Anthorn Radio Station in Cumbria by VT Communications, under contract to NPL. The MSF radio signal is a dedicated time broadcast that provides an accurate and reliable source of UK civil time, based on the NPL time scale UTC(NPL). It is available 24 hours a day across the whole of the UK and beyond. The signal operates on a frequency of 60 kHz and carries a time and date code that can be received by this clock. MANUAL RECEIVE Press the WAVE button to start receiving time signal immediately. MANUAL TIME SETTING During normal time mode, 1. Press and hold the TIME SET button for 3 seconds, 12H or 24H will start to flash. 2. Press button to adjust your selection. 3. Press the TIME SET button again to enter the next setting, the month digit will flash. 4. Repeat the above steps to set, MONTH, DATE, WEEKDAY, HOUR MINUTES and, SECONDS. 5. Finally press the TIME SET button to return to normal time mode or the display will return automatically after 10 seconds. Note: - During the setting mode if no button is pressed for 10 seconds the display will return to normal time mode. ALARM SETTING During normal time mode, 1. Press the MODE/ALARM button to enter the alarm setting mode, alarm 1 will flash. 2. Press the MODE/ALARM button once to switch to alarm 2 mode. (To return back to alarm 1 mode press the MODE/ALARM button three times). 3. When the desired alarm selection is flashing, press and hold the TIME SET button for three seconds, the hour digits will flash. 4. Press button to adjust the hours and press the TIME SET button to confirm and minute digits will flash. 5. Press button to adjust the minutes and press the TIME SET button to confirm the setting. 6. Press button to activate the alarm. ( will be displayed when the alarm is activated.) 7. Repeatedly press the MODE/ALARM button until the display returns to normal time mode. Note: - When the desired alarm is activated, a bell icon with the alarm number will be shown on the display permanently. - During the setting mode if no button is pressed for 10 seconds the display will return to normal time mode. ACTIVATING AND DEACTIVATING THE ALARM During normal time mode, 1. Press the MODE/ALARM button to enter the alarm setting mode, alarm 1 will flash. 2. Select the desired alarm by pressing the MODE/ALARM button. 3. Press the button to activate or deactivate the alarm ( the alarm is activated and will be displayed when will be displayed when the alarm is deactivated.) Repeatedly press the MODE/ALARM button until the display returns to normal time mode. ALARM / SNOOZE FUNCTION While the alarm is sounding, press the SNOOZE/ LIGHT key to activate the snooze function, the alarm will start again after 5 minutes or press any key to permanently stop the alarm. OFF SET HOURS SETTING (when traveling to different cities) During normal time mode 1. Press the MODE/ALARM button 3 times to enter the off set hours setting. 2. Press and hold the TIME SET button for 3 seconds and the offset digit will start to flash. 3. Press the button to set the off set hours (12 to -12 hours). See below table with different cities time zones. 4. Repeatedly press the MODE/ALARM button until the display returns to the normal time mode.
