Sales Alert New Compact Chassis for ViconNet Nucleus, Workstation, NVR, Web Server and Kollector Strike Basic

Overview Vicon has begun a gradual phase-in of more compact rack and desktop versions of many ViconNet video management devices. As stock of the larger models are depleted, the smaller units will begin shipping in their place, with most models changing to the smaller size within the next month. Units affected are:
Nucleus Workstations Web Server NVRs (Shadow models excluded) Kollector Strike Basic Rack units are 1RU high and 16 inches deep, designed to fit within a standard 19-inch rack.
Rack Models
Rack versions of the above product will have their depth reduced from 23.5 inches to 16 inches, making the devices much lighter and easier to mount. For NVRs, this housing will be available for units with up to 6TB internal storage. For Kollector Strike Basic, maximum internal storage in this size housing is limited to 3TB. (Models with operating system drives only, meant to connect to Storage Area Network (SAN) devices, are available.)
Desktop Models Desktop models of the above products (excluding Kollectors) will be offered in a sleek, attractive chassis about the size of a paperback book. NVRs in this housing are currently limited to 3TB in internal storage but this number may increase over time as more drive options become available. For now, NVRS with more than 3TB will continue to ship in the larger tower chassis.
The desktop model is 2.1 inches wide, 6.6 inches high and deep.
USB Replaces DVD Due to the smaller size, the new units do not provide a DVD drive. Instead, software and files may be transferred to the device via a USB port. As a convenience to our customers, all devices now ship with ViconNet 6.6 pre-installed and registered. In addition, customers receiving newer units that lack a DVD drive will receive a backup copy of software on a convenient USB card. The USB Card with flip-up drive is the size of a credit card and fits easily in a wallet.
Kollector Strike Basic Models Feature Solid-State Drive All short-chassis Kollector Strike Basic models will benefit from a solid-state operating system drive at no additional cost. The solid state drives provide greater reliability with reduced access time and latency. As stated above, these models are limited to 3TB internal storage (not solid-state).
Ordering Information For desktop models, there is no change in model numbers. Smaller chassis will ship whenever appropriate. For rack models, model numbers should be modified as follows: For all products except Kollectors: add a “1” at the end of model, as shown here in red: VN-NVR-3000V6-R1 For Kollector Strike Basic models: add the “1” as shown here in red: KS1B1-2000V6 For Kollector Strike Basic models with no internal storage: KS-2-ENC (16 channels at 240 ViconNet /120 H.264 fps) or KS-3-ENC (16 channels at 480 ViconNet /240 H.264 fps)
