APC’s Smart-UPS NS series includes:
Smart-UPS NS rack-mount units offer a convenient, customized rack fit. The Smart-UPS NS is the only UPS to ship with an HP-compatible back plate to ensure easy, seamless integration with HP’s plug configurations. This unique feature eliminates the need to install special PDUs or adapters to accommodate HP plugs. The unit also ships with the appropriate rails to fit HP’s new network rack. The Smart-UPS NS tower version is also now available in Europe.
• The Smart-UPS 2200NS, a 3U high, 2200 VA UPS which is available for either 120V or 230V input voltage.
With its coordinated front panel, the SmartUPS NS rack-mount series has the same “look and feel” as the HP Netserver but carries the APC logo, reminding network administrators that their new server equipment is backed by the world’s most reliable power protection.
The entire Smart-UPS NS series can support large rack-mount configurations of multiple HP Netserver systems and HP Netserver Rack Storage. In addition, Smart-UPS towers provide protection for individual Netservers in a pedestal configuration.
APC Smart-UPS NS: Simply Reliable, Flexible and Manageable In addition to the custom front bezel and rear outlets, the Smart-UPS NS series offers the award-winning PowerChute plus software which provides premium, custom power management tools for the SmartUPS NS series. Two APC PowerXtend™ software plug-ins, included free with the Smart-UPS NS models, ensure complete integration with HP’s server and enterprise management tools; HP OpenView and HP Netserver Assistant. APC’s innovative SmartSlot™, recently hailed by PC Magazine as “handy . . . for adding enhanced monitoring capabilities”, gives users the ability to optimize the Smart-UPS NS with SNMP and modem-based management, environmental/security monitoring, multiple server shutdown (even in mixed O/S environments) and other critical functions.

APC Smart-UPS NS ships with APC’s PowerChute plus UPS power management and diagnostic software to provide network administrators with useful UPS information and great flexibility in configuring UPS reaction to power events. APC’s PowerChute plus includes APC’s PowerNet SNMP Agent (Windows NT and NetWare included with Smart-UPS) and offers integration and compatibility with HP NetServer Assistant (Windows NT and NetWare only) as well as all of the HP OpenView platforms.

This SmartSlot™ allows you to install one of a variety of accessory cards that are available to customize and enhance the management of your APC Smart-UPS. The Smart-UPS 2200NS (APC2R120) ships standard with 2 NEMA 5-20 and 6 NEMA 5-15 output receptacles. The Smart-UPS 3000NS, 208V version (APC3R208), ships standard with 2 NEMA L6-20, 1 NEMA L6-30, and 2 NEMA 5-15 output receptacles. The 120V version (APC3RA), ships standard with 4 NEMA 5-15, 2 NEMA 5-20, and 1 NEMA L5-20 output receptacles.

PowerNet Manager for HP OpenView Network Node Manager or HP OpenView for Windows The APC Smart-UPS NS series supports the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) via APC’s PowerNet® family of products. PowerNet products deliver warnings regarding power events and UPS status to any Network Management Station whether the UPS is located 20 feet or 2000 miles away. APC’s PowerNet Agent, included with PowerChute plus permits you to monitor and control the APC UPSs protecting servers along your entire network data path. This same worldwide power management capability for Smart-UPS protecting servers or internetworking equipment is available via the Web/SNMP Management Card (sold separately — see APC literature #996-0654C).
APC Web/SNMP Management Card
Multiple Accessories can be used in one Smart-UPS NS by using the SmartSlot™ Expansion Chassis (APC Part #AP9600). Reboot hung servers and routers remotely via modem with the use of the Share-UPS™ 8-Port Interface Expander (APC Part #AP9608). Integrate smoke alarms, halon alarms, telephone switches and other dry contact closures into your UPS system with the Relay I/O card (APC Part #AP9610).
APC SmartSlot Expansion Chassis
Safely shutdown up to three servers with the 2-Port Interface Expander Card (APC Part #AP9607). This device provides graceful system shutdown via dependable hardwire connections and allows advanced UPS management. Monitor temperature, humidity, rack security as well as smoke alarms and halon alarms with the Environmental Monitoring Card (APC Part #AP9612TH).
