the creation and application of graphical user interfaces for the Dallmeier electronic video management system consisting of PView and PGuard. This graphical solution is based on position or ground plans that enable the illustration of a surveillance scenario on different levels. In addition to simple description fields it is possible to integrate control elements for z navigating between single levels z displaying live images z displaying tracks z controlling PTZ cameras z controlling external applications anywhere on the different levels of the graphical user interface. SmartGUI may be started in two independent modes. The edit mode enables the installer to create and modify individual user interfaces for various surveillance projects. The guard mode allows the user to concentrate on operating the video management system. 1.1 Validity This document applies to the SmartGUI – Editor advance software. It has been produced on the basis of version 1.0.3 (in association with PGuard 4.0.2 SP C and PView 5.6.2). 1.2 This document This document contains descriptions regarding installation, start and operation of the SmartGUI software in the edit mode. The target audience of this document is installers of a surveillance system. Basic computing and CCTV knowledge is required. The operation in Guard mode can only be described generally because of the individual scope of design. Dallmeier electronic recommends the creation of a special description for the user of the graphical interface, if necessary. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 5 SmartGUI + Editor advance 1.3 Convention Various symbols and formats are used to maintain the clarity of the document. IMPORTANT The word IMPORTANT denotes information for preventing damage, incorrect configurations or incorrect actions. NOTE A NOTE offers information on principles, special features and efficient procedure as well as general recommendations. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 7 SmartGUI + Editor advance 8 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 2 Basic Settings In contrast to Guard mode the SmartGUI user interface provides all functions for the design of a graphical interface in Edit mode. Thus the modes differ regarding the menu and tool bar. The following details refer to the Edit mode. The Guard mode user interface and functions are generally described in a separate chapter. 2.1 Graphical User Interface After starting SmartGUI in Edit mode the user interface will be displayed in its default state. 4 5 6 1 2 3 8 7 9 10 11 Fig. 2-1 User interface in default state 1) Title bar 2) Menu bar 3) Mode selection The Mode dropdown box enables switching between Edit and Guard mode. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 9 SmartGUI + Editor advance 4) Custom toolbar Individual control elements (buttons) may be defined on the toolbar Custom. 5) Controls toolbar This bar provides all tools for the definition of control elements (buttons) on a background image (scene). 6) Views toolbar This toolbar enables the activation and deactivation of the various SmartGUI user interface windows. 7) Scene window The Scene window allows control elements to be integrated into the various background images of a project. 8) Workspace Explorer window The various scenes and control elements of a project are displayed as a tree structure in this window. 9) Navigator Window A scene is always displayed completely in this window. 10) Video window The images of any of the video management system’s cameras may be displayed in the Video window. 11) Status bar The status bar displays miscellaneous information e. g. the mouse pointer’s x and y coordinates in the Scene window. 10 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 2.1.1 Workspace Explorer window The various scenes and control elements of a project are displayed as a tree structure in this window. In addition to the well arranged illustration project elements can be selected (left click) to be edited in the Scene window. Fig. 2-2 Workspace Explorer window Illustration SmartGUI enables the simultaneous processing of several projects. These are summarized under the Workspace. The entire Workspace may be opened and saved via the Program menu. NOTE Changes to the project details are not considered when saving the Workspace. These changes have to be saved separately. The single projects are subdivided in scenes and the Custom menu bar buttons on the first level. The corresponding control elements and subscenes are integrated into the single scenes. The subscene’s control elements build up the last level. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 11 SmartGUI + Editor advance Context menu A right click on a project element opens the corresponding context menu. There it is possible to start the Properties dialog besides standard actions like Delete or Copy. The context menu is available in the Workspace Explorer as well as in the Scene window. Guard mode In Guard mode the Workspace Explorer window is used for selecting scenes and subscenes only. Control elements and the Custom toolbar’s buttons will not be displayed. Please note that only one project may be opened at a time in Guard mode. 2.1.2 Navigator The scene’s entire background image is displayed in the Navigator window, independent from the image displayed in the Scene window. A semi-transparent square is displayed in the Navigator window, representing a sector of the background image being enlarged in the Scene window (via the context menu). Fig. 2-3 12 Navigator with enlarged sector Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG The enlarged sector may be adjusted in the Navigator window. z Modification of the size / zoom factor with drag&drop of the sector’s corners (see image above). z Modification of the position with drag&drop of the sector’s surface area. z Adjustment to the size of the Scene window (zoom – 100%) by double-clicking the sector’s surface area. 2.2 Language ¾ Open the Preferences / Language menu. Fig. 2-4 Selecting the language ¾ Select a language. After a restart SmartGUI’s graphical user interface will be displayed in the new language. 2.3 About dialog You can access information about the SmartGUI and JRE (Java Runtime Environment) version via Help / About. Fig. 2-5 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Dialog Info 13 SmartGUI + Editor advance 14 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 3 Settings Various settings can be made before or during the creation of a graphic user interface. These influence the properties, the available functions and the view of SmartGUI. 3.1 Cache SmartGUI keeps a certain number of background images in the main memory. This allows the fluid use of the graphic user interface to be maintained. If lots of large images are used in a project, the available main memory may become overloaded. This has a negative effect on the fluid use of the system and necessitates an adjustment to the individual project. To set the number of images in the cache, select Preferences / Options in the menu bar. The configuration dialog will be displayed. Fig. 3-1 Cache configuration dialog ¾ Select the number of images using the drop-down box. ¾ Confirm by clicking on OK. This setting can be made in both edit and guard mode. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 15 SmartGUI + Editor advance 3.2 API manager An API is a programming interface (*.dll) which is provided by an external application. If the API is registered or integrated, SmartGUI can control the external application. The special PViewSDK API is registered as default. This allows interaction with external Dallmeier electronic applications (PView, PGuard). In addition the general SmartGUI API is also integrated. This only provides a function that permits an arbitrary external application to be opened. If you wish to integrate a new API, the relevant definition file (*.xml) is required in addition to the programming interface (*.dll). The xml file contains the description of the interface (objects, methods, parameters and data types) and must have a structure that obeys certain rules. As a result of their special character, these rules are not described in this document. Contact the Dallmeier electronic support team for further details. 3.2.1 Integrate API Before an API can be integrated, you must decide whether the API function should be available in a specific project or in all projects that are saved locally. One project (local and LAN) If the functions of the API should always only be available in a certain project, the API files can be saved to the project directive (folder ... Project_Name\sdk). This means that it is not necessary to integrate it in each individual SmartGUI. It is of no consequence whether the project is opened by the local system (PC) or by an external system in the network (LAN). All projects (local) If you would like the functions of the API to be available in all projects that are opened on the local system (PC), the API files can be saved to the installation directory (default folder C:\\Programs\Dammeier\SmartGUI\Project_Name\sdk). It is of no consequence whether the project is opened on the local system (PC) or saved to an external system in the network (LAN). 16 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 3.2.2 Install API After an API has been integrated, it must be installed or integrated in the API management dialog. ¾ Open the API management dialog using Program / API management… . Fig. 3-2 API management configuration dialog ¾ Click on Add/project to install an API from a project folder. ¾ Click on Add to install an API from the installation folder. The Add API dialog is opened. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 17 SmartGUI + Editor advance The APIs that exist but have not yet been installed will be displayed. Fig. 3-3 Add API installation dialog ¾ Select the definition file (*.xml) for the relevant API. ¾ Confirm by clicking on OK. The API management dialog will appear again. The new API will be displayed in the Installed APIs section. Fig. 3-4 API management configuration dialog ¾ End the API management dialog by closing it. 18 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG The newly integrated API and its functions can now be used with immediate effect for defining controls and user-defined symbol bars. 3.2.3 Additional functions The API management dialog offers two additional functions. Remove API If an installed API is no longer required, it can be removed from the project or the workspace. ¾ Mark the relevant API. ¾ Click on Remove. ¾ Confirm the information dialog that will then be displayed. Please note that API files are not deleted. They can be reinstalled at any time using Add or Add / Project. Missing APIs Clicking on Missing APIs starts a check on opened projects. This compares the functions used by the controls with the functions provided by the installed APIs. If a required API is not installed, the user will be notified by an information dialog. This API can then be integrated and installed as described above. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 19 SmartGUI + Editor advance 3.3 Project layout SmartGUI permits the view or the layout of a project to be changed, in other words the user can adjust the settings for they way in which the various windows and their arrangement appear. 3.3.1 Change layout Starting from the default layout, the Workspace Explorer, Navigator and Video windows can be moved using drag & drop and displayed or hidden with View symbol bar. This layout setting will be saved with each project and transferred to guard mode after a change. Fig. 3-5 Default layout Fig. 3-6 Changed layout Please note that a saved project will always be opened in edit mode in the default layout. The last individual layout to be saved must be opened using the context menu for the project (Restore SmartGUI layout). This procedure must also be adopted if the current project is changed in a workspace. Fig. 3-7 20 Restore layout Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Please note that when you Save the workspace, the layout currently displayed will be saved for all opened projects. This is also the case if it is saved using the dialog that is displayed when you exit edit mode or when you close SmartGUI. If you wish to save individual layouts for various projects, each project must be saved individually. In addition the dialog that is displayed when you close SmartGUI (Do you want to save all projects before closing?) must be confirmed with No. 3.3.2 Permit layout change It is possible to define in the Project properties dialog for each project whether the user may change the layout in guard mode. Fig. 3-8 Project properties dialog If the user receives this authorization, he can make all the changes in guard mode that are also available in edit mode. A changed layout will not be saved, however, and will not be retained even if the current project is changed. If the user may not change the layout, the drag & drop functions and the View symbol bar will not be available in guard mode. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 21 SmartGUI + Editor advance 22 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 4 Create graphic interface Every surveillance project is created in the form of a graphic interface. SmartGUI allows multiple projects to be edited at one time. 4.1 Project To create a new project, select Program / New project… in the menu bar. Alternatively this can also be selected using the context menu in the Workspace Explorer. ¾ Right-click on Workspace. ¾ Select New Project…. Fig. 4-1 Workspace context menu The New project… dialog will be displayed. Fig. 4-2 Dialog Neues Projekt… ¾ Enter the Project name. ¾ Use the checkbox to define whether the View symbol bar will be displayed in guard mode. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 23 SmartGUI + Editor advance If the user is allowed to change the layout in guard mode, he can display or hide the Workspace Explorer, Navigator and Video windows at any time or reposition them using drag & drop. If this checkbox is not checked, an unchangeable layout can be defined in edit mode. See the information in the section entitled Settings for further details. The new project will be displayed in the Workspace Explorer window under Workspace. Fig. 4-3 Tree structure for a new project If you wish to create multiple projects and edit them simultaneously, repeat the procedure described above. The new projects will be displayed in sequence in the Workspace Explorer under the first project. 4.2 Scene The various structure levels of a project take the form of scenes. A scene initially consists of a background image, which may be a site plan or a plan. To create a new scene, select Scene / New… in the menu bar. Alternatively this can also be selected using the context menu in the Workspace Explorer. ¾ Right-click on a project. ¾ Select New scene... in the context menu. Fig. 4-4 24 Project context menu Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG The New scene… dialog will be displayed. Fig. 4-5 New scene… dialog ¾ Enter the Name. ¾ Click on Browse… to select the background image. ¾ Select a graphics file. ¾ Confirm the file selection dialog. ¾ Finally, confirm the New scene… dialog by clicking on OK. The new scene will be displayed in the Workspace Explorer window under the relevant project. The corresponding background image will be displayed in the Scene and Navigator windows. Fig. 4-6 4.2.1 New Scene in the Workspace Explorer If you wish to create multiple scenes, repeat the procedure described above. The new scenes will be place in sequence in the Workspace Explorer under the last scene of the project. Supported formats The following graphics formats are supported as standard for background images: z PNG (Portable Network Graphics) z JPG / JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) z GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) The appropriate files and images can be selected and saved using the normal method. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 25 SmartGUI + Editor advance 4.2.2 DXF file converter If you wish to use a DXF file (AutoCAD vector graphics) as the background image, the file must first be converted into a supported graphics format. After the DXF file has been opened, the DXF file converter will be displayed for this purpose. NOTE The SmartGUI DXF file converter can process vector graphics that have been created using AutoCAD R12 (or older versions). Graphics from more recent AutoCAD versions must first be exported to R12 to check their compatibility. Fig. 4-7 DXF file converter dialog Layers Define which layers of the vector graphics you wish to save for the background image. Options Define the size of the background image relative to the size of the vector graphic using Zoom factor. Use Margins to define the thickness (in pixels) of a border that you wish to draw around the background image (0 = no border). 26 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Image extension can be used to define the format in which you wish to save the background image in the project. ¾ Confirm the DXF file converter dialog by clicking on OK. The DXF file will be saved in the project folder as the background image and will be used for the New scene… dialog. 4.3 Subscene A subscene is a defined section of a scene which is displayed in the Workspace Explorer as a -separate element. This makes it possible to activate particularly interesting sections of a scene (for example separate room separate security area) independent of the Navigator window. To create a new subscene on a scene, first of all select the appropriate scene in the Workspace Explorer. ¾ Select Scene / New subscene in the menu bar. Alternatively this can also be selected using the context menu in the Workspace Explorer. ¾ Right-click on the appropriate scene. ¾ Select New subscene... in the context menu. Fig. 4-8 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Scene context menu 27 SmartGUI + Editor advance The Subscene properties dialog will be displayed. This area will then be marked in green. Fig. 4-10 28 Subscene marking Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Please note: z The position of the marking can be changed using drag & drop. z It is only possible to mark one area at any one time. If you open a new rectangle to mark an area, it will replace the existing one. z The side ratio of the area will be automatically adjusted to the side ratio of the background image when you confirm by clicking on OK. If there are already control buttons in the newly marked area, they will be placed in the Workspace Explorer under the new subscene. They will be assigned to the subscene. If new control buttons are defined in the area of an existing subscene, they will be assigned to the subscene. This is also the case if the control buttons are defined on the actual scene. ¾ Enter the Name of the subscene. ¾ Finally confirm by clicking on OK. The new subscene will be displayed in the Workspace Explorer window under the relevant scene. The subscene will be display as an enlarged area of the current scene in the Navigator and in the Scene window. Fig. 4-11 Defined subscene Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 29 SmartGUI + Editor advance If you wish to create multiple subscenes, repeat the procedure described above. The new subscenes will be displayed in sequence in the Workspace Explorer under the last subscene. Please note: Existing subscenes will be displayed in the Subscene properties window in the form of dark green rectangles. The new subscene must not overlap with existing subscenes. This is prevented automatically when you open the rectangle. 30 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 5 Integrate controls Various controls (buttons) can be integrated on a background image in each scene. Each control is or can be assigned a specific function that can be initiated in Guard mode by clicking on it. The available controls are displayed on the relevant symbol bar. 1 2 Fig. 5-1 3 4 5 6 Controls symbol bar 1) Camera 4) Text field 2) User-defined 5) Link 3) Transparency field 6) Video field Proceed as follows to integrate a control: ¾ Select the scene or subscene in the Workspace Explorer window. ¾ Click on the control in the symbol bar ¾ Click on the relevant position in the scene. The control is integrated on the background image in its default state. Its position and size can be changed using drag & drop. The control can be placed in the relevant scene or subscene in the Workplace Explorer window. The context menu can be displayed by right-clicking on a control or the corresponding entry in the Workplace Explorer window. In addition to entries to Delete and Copy the control, the dialog to set its Properties can also be opened. Fig. 5-2 Control context menu Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 31 SmartGUI + Editor advance 5.1 Camera The Camera control is linked to a real camera in the surveillance scenario. Normally it is integrated in the appropriate position on the background image. The following functions can be implemented with the Camera control in Guard mode: z Display the camera position in the surveillance scene z Display the camera type (dome camera or static camera) z Display the field of vision of the camera (static camera) or the presets (dome camera) z Display the corresponding video field (red border) z Display the input of a camera-related message from the recorder z Camera control in live mode z Playback control in track mode Open the Edit object properties dialog using the context menu to define the Properties of the control. 5.1.1 General First make the basic settings on the General tab. ¾ Adjust the Name of the control. ¾ Enter a Tool tip. ¾ Use Browse… to replace the default image with an arbitrary image. ¾ Adjust the Size (pixels) of the control. The PView identification section can be used to link the real camera using the PView software. ¾ Enter the IP address of the Recorder. ¾ Enter the number of the relevant Camera. 32 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Fig. 5-3 Edit object properties / General dialog If the PView software has been started locally and the recorder has been defined in PView, the IP address and camera number can be selected using the appropriate drop-down box. NOTE The External PView function is not active in this version of SmartGUI (it is only prepared). An IP address can be entered but it will have no effect. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 33 SmartGUI + Editor advance 5.1.2 Operation You can define the functions of the control using the Operation tab. Use PView split to define the window or field in which the images from the camera will be displayed: Central PView Display the images in the Video window. Video field (name) Freely defined video fields will be displayed in the list field with their name. Only one video field from the current scene can be used to display the images from a camera. PView Fig. 5-4 Edit object properties / Operation dialog The images are not displayed on the graphic user interface but are in fact only shown in PView. The Split number refers to splits 1 to 32 in PView. This function depends on the setting in the PView split field. Central PView or video field (name) The Split number defines which split will be redirected in PView to SmartGUI. When the function is activated, this split will no longer be displayed in PView. PView In this setting the Split number defines the split in which the images from the camera are displayed in PView. If the setting is -1, the split that is declared in PView in Program / Configuration / External programs / Split No. will be used. Initially the system assumes that the camera is a static one. If the real camera is a dome camera, the Dome camera checkbox can be checked. 34 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG This results in the following differences: z The standard image from a static camera is replaced by the dome camera. z The Available controls are supplemented with Preset, Zoom and Steering. z The number of presets defined on the camera (saved and go-to positions) can be declared. z Viewing angles (see below) can only be defined for presets, not for the camera itself. Number of presets allows you to define how many presets are defined on the dome camera. Each preset is placed around the control in the form of a separate button (see below). Default action allows you to define which function is carried out automatically if you left-click on the control. The functions can also be initiated manually using the context menu for the control (right-click). z Switch to live mode The connection to the recorder is established. The camera specified under PView identification is displayed. Fig. 5-5 Edit object properties / Operation dialog z Switch to track mode The connection to the recorder is established. The track declared in the Track change dialog (displayed by is displayed. ) z Switch to standby mode The connection to the recorder is disconnected. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 35 SmartGUI + Editor advance 5.1.3 Controls On the Live and Track tabs you can decide which additional controls should be displayed with the camera control. The Available controls in live mode depend on the type of camera (static or dome). Live z Function is used to display the FCT control. The corresponding context menu allows various special functions of a camera to be opened. z Presets is used to display the PRE control. The corresponding context menu allows various presets of a dome camera to be opened. z Camera control displays the controls to control the dome camera (1). z Zoom displays the controls to change the zoom of a dome camera (2). 1 2 Fig. 5-6 Dome camera control with live mode and 3 presets controls Track z Index is used to display the control to open the Index change context menu (1). z Change track is used to display the control to open the Change track dialog (2). z Playback control is used to display the control for playback. 36 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 1 3b 2 3a 3a) Playback forwards / backwards 3b) Single frame c 3c) Fast playback forwards / backwards 3d) Go to the start / end of the track 3c 3d Fig. 5-7 Camera control with track mode controls Finally confirm the settings in the Edit object properties dialog by clicking on OK. The new control will be displayed in the Workspace Explorer window under the relevant scene or subscene. 5.1.4 Field of vision In addition to displaying the position, the control also allows the field of vision of the real camera to be displayed. There are slight differences between static cameras and dome cameras. Static cameras ¾ Select the control for the camera in the Scene window. The field of vision indicator will be displayed. The camera’s field of vision is indicated by the red area. ¾ Adjust the position and angle of the field of vision using drag & drop. Fig. 5-8 Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG Adjust the field of vision of a static camera 37 SmartGUI + Editor advance The field of vision is always displayed in guard mode if z the mouse pointer is over the control. z the control is in live mode. Dome cameras The field of vision for dome camera is set for the various presets. ¾ Select the control for the camera in the Scene window. The field of vision indicator will be displayed. ¾ Click on the number of a preset. The field of vision for that present will be displayed in the form of a red area. ¾ Adjust the position and angle of the field of vision using drag & drop. Fig. 5-9 Adjust the field of vision of a dome camera ¾ Finally adjust the position of the preset number to the field of vision using drag & drop. Fig. 5-10 38 Adjust the position of a preset Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG The field of vision indicator and field of vision have the following properties in guard mode: The field of vision indicator for the control will be displayed whenever the mouse point is over the control. The field of vision of a preset is displayed if the control is in live mode and the corresponding preset number is clicked. 5.1.5 Message display In contrast to other controls, a camera button can also display external events or states in guard mode. A simple Event may, for example, involve the failure of the real camera which is defined as a camera button in SmartGUI. If the recorder is configured accordingly, it will send a failure message to the alarm host. This is the same as the PC on which PGuard and the SmartGUI surveillance project are active. The message is displayed by PGuard in the form of an information dialog („Alarm window“). SmartGUI immediately goes to the appropriate scene. The triggering camera is then marked by concentric circles. See also the description of the message process in the section entitled Guard mode. Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG 39 SmartGUI + Editor advance 5.2 User-defined The User-defined control and all its functions can be linked to a registered API. Open the Edit object properties dialog using the context menu to define the Properties of the control. You can make the basic settings on the General tab. ¾ Adjust the Name of the control. ¾ Enter a Tool tip. ¾ Use Browse… to replace the default image with an arbitrary image. ¾ Adjust the Size (pixels) of the control. Fig. 5-11 Edit object properties / General dialog You can define the functions of the control using the Action tab. ¾ Click on Add to define a new action or function. The Add action dialog will be displayed.
