I. INTRODUCTION •
A. GENERAL T h e D u P o n t VACREL® S o l d e r M a s k V a c u u m L a m i nators, M o d e l s 300 and 330 (SMVL-300/330), are d e s i g n e d to l a m i n a t e VACREL® D r y F i l m S o l d e r M a s k to o n e or b o t h s i d e s of printed w i r i n g b o a r d s . D u r i n g t h e a u t o m a t i c c y c l e , the film a n d b o a r d s a r e p u l l e d into a v a c u u m c h a m b e r w h e r e they a r e h e a t e d a n d l a m i nated. Adjustable chamber temperatures and cycle t i m e s , c o m b i n e d with h i g h v a c u u m l e v e l s , e n s u r e c o n s i s t e n t film c o n f o r m a t i o n w i t h o u t v o i d s or air entrapment.

T h e S M V L - 3 0 C will l a m i n a t e b o a r d s u p to 21-114 i n c h e s l o n g b y 2 4 i n c h e s w i d e (540 m m long X 610 m m wide).
T h e S M V L - 3 3 G will l a m i n a t e b o a r d s u p to 3 0 i n c h e s l o n g by 2 4 i n c h e s w i d e (762 m m l o n g x 610 m m wide).
2 . T h e v a c u u m c h a m b e r c o n s i s t s of u p p e r a n d lower p l a t e n s that s e a l t o g e t h e r after t h e b o a r d e n t e r s t h e c h a m b e r . E a c h platen is u n d e r v a c u u m p r e s s u r e at v a r i o u s t i m e s d u r i n g the c y c l e .

T h e h e a t e d u p p e r p l a t e n of t h e v a c u u m c h a m b e r is c o v e r e d b y a s i l i c o n e r u b b e r d i a p h r a g m that is d r a w n d o w n o n t o t h e film a n d b o a r d s by v a c u u m to a p p l y l a m i n a t i o n pressure.

T h e lower platen heats and supports b o a r d and p r o v i d e s the v a c u u m lamination.

S M V L - 3 3 0 l o w e r p l a t e n s a r e a v a i l a b l e in l e n g t h s of 16 to 3 0 i n c h e s in 2 - i n c h i n c r e m e n t s ; all m u s t b e s p e c i a l l y o r d e r e d . T h e s i z e s n o r m a l l y u s e d a r e 26 a n d 3 0 i n c h e s . A l l platens are 24 inches wide.
4. A l t h o u g h i n c l u d e d in the p u r c h a s e p r i c e of t h e S M V L - 3 0 0 / 3 3 0 , the L a m i n a t o r s are s h i p p e d W I T H O U T a lower p l a t e n i n s t a l l e d . T h e l o w e r platen s i z e r e q u i r e d m u s t b e s p e c i f i e d w h e n ordering t h e L a m i n a t o r . T h e platen is s h i p p e d with t h e S M V L , but in a s e p a r a t e c r a t e . A d d i t i o n a l lower platens c a n be ordered as n e e d e d .
NOTE: SMVL-300 and SMVL-330 lower platens are not interchangeable.
B. SMVL-300/330 FEATURES •
A p n e u m a t i c c y l i n d e r lifts the u p p e r s u p p l y roll f r a m e s o t h e o p e r a t o r c a n s w i v e l the f r a m e over the s i d e of t h e L a m i n a t o r to c h a n g e t h e s u p p l y rolls.
• A built-in c y c l e timer c o n t r o l s all m a c h i n e f u n c t i o n s t h r o u g h o u t the c y c l e . T h e o p e r a t o r s i m p l y p l a c e s t h e b o a r d s o n the f e e d t a b l e a n d p u s h e s t h e Start button. •
A s e l e c t o r s w i t c h o n the c o n t r o l p a n e l p e r m i t s either a u t o m a t i c or o p e r a t o r - a c t i o n r e c y c l i n g .

A h y d r a u l i c a l l y o p e r a t e d film a d v a n c e m e c h a n i s m pulls t h e film a n d board(s) into t h e L a m i n a t o r a n d w i t h d r a w s the p r e v i o u s l y l a m i n a t e d board(s) f r o m the v a c u u m c h a m b e r . N i p rollers at t h e e n d of t h e m a c h i n e p r o v i d e uniform t e n s i o n a c r o s s the film width.

A v a c u u m interlock s y s t e m m o n i t o r s t h e v a c u u m d u r i n g e a c h c y c l e a n d p r e v e n t s t h e s t a r t of a n o t h e r c y c l e if v a c u u m l e v e l s are too low for a d e q u a t e lamination.

A n infra-red t e m p e r a t u r e s e n s o r s y s t e m m e a s u r e s a n d d i s p l a y s the t e m p e r a t u r e of t h e b o a r d s a s they e m e r g e f r o m the v a c u u m c h a m b e r .
