Version 7 Vision – Snapshot – Basic Tools Snapshot is a screenshot tool that is part of the Pointer feature. It can be used for taking screenshots of the master station teacher desktop. The screenshots can be saved in a gallery for later use. Starting Snapshot Snapshot can be started from the View ribbon on the Vision dashboard, or from the Pointer toolbar. The Snapshot Window To view a larger image of any item in the gallery, double click it. Page 1 of 5 © D. Rich, 2011 Version 7 The 3 Basics Screenshot Modes On the View ribbon, click on the Snapshot icon. Full Screen Click the Full Screen capture icon to take a shot of your entire screen and add it to the snapshot gallery. Window Click the Window capture icon. Your cursor becomes a window selection tool. Click on the title bar (blue bar at the top) of the desired window. A screenshot of the selected window will be added to the snapshot gallery. Area Click the Area capture icon. Then single click once at the top left-hand corner of the area of the screen you would like to capture. Move your mouse to create a selection area. Single click again at the bottom right-hand corner of the area of the screen you would like to capture. A screenshot of the selected area will be added to the snapshot gallery. Sample Snapshot Gallery Page 2 of 5 © D. Rich, 2011 Version 7 Saving Screenshots Upon closing Snapshot, you will always be prompted to save your screenshots into a gallery. It is not necessary to save your screenshots to a snapshot gallery if you do not plan to use them again in the future. If you wish to save the current gallery, choose the Save icon. Type and name and choose a location in which to save the gallery. Opening Saved Screenshots The Open icon opens previously saved snapshot galleries. When you open Snapshot, previously captured screenshots will not be displayed. You will need to open a saved snapshot gallery to access previously saved screenshots. Click the Open icon and browse for the desired gallery. More Snapshot Tools New The New icon clears the currently displayed gallery in order to begin a new snapshot gallery. Print The Print icon sends all of the screenshots in the currently displayed gallery to the printer. Cut The Cut icon cuts a screenshot from the gallery. It can then be pasted into any application. Copy • • The Copy icon copies a screenshot from the gallery. It can then be pasted into any application. • • Copy an image in an application (ex: a clipart image on a Word document). The Paste icon pastes the copied image in the snapshot gallery as a separate screenshot. Paste Page 3 of 5 © D. Rich, 2011 Version 7 Properties This icon opens the customization properties for Snapshot. Ruler • • • • • The Ruler icon will create a capture according to the dimensions you specify. Single click the Ruler icon. The Ruler selection window will appear. Click-hold-drag any side of the ruler selection window to resize it. When the desired area is displayed in the ruler selection window, click the camera icon in the corner of the window. To close the Ruler, click the X in the upper right hand corner of the ruler selection box, or single click the ruler icon on the snap toolbar again. Preview • • • When a webcam is connected to your computer, you can capture images from it by clicking the Preview tool. On the Preview window, choose Capture > Capture Now. The webcam capture will be added to the snapshot gallery. Scanner • • • • • Place an item on the scanner bed. Click the Scanner icon on the Snapshot toolbar. Select the source for your scanner when prompted. Your scanner software will open. Start the scan. The scanned image will be added to the snapshot gallery. • The Import icon allows you to import BMP or JPG files from your computer into the snapshot gallery. Click the Import icon. • Import Page 4 of 5 © D. Rich, 2011 Version 7 • • Browse to the location that contains the desired clipart. Choose BMP or JPG in the Files of Type box. • • Select the clipart image, and then click the Open button. The selected image will be added to the snapshot gallery. Export • • • • • • • The Export icon allows you to export items in the snapshot gallery to a folder on your computer. Select an item from the snapshot gallery. Click the Export button. Browse to a location in which to save the image. Type a name in the File Name box. Click the Save button. The image will save as a bitmap image (BMP) file. Export in HTML This icon allows you to export an image as an HTML file. Page 5 of 5 © D. Rich, 2011
