SolaHD UPS LRT Temperature Sensor Kit User Manual 1. Introduction The SolaHD UPS LRT (Long Run Time) Temperature Sensor Kit, P/N: S5KCLRTTEMPKIT, is used to monitor battery temperature in external third party battery cabinets, so that the SolaHD UPS can provide temperature compensated battery charging to prolong battery life. The sensor kit is shown in Figure 1.

Installation The LRT Temperature Sensor Kit has two interfaces: One is a plug in terminal block connector and is connected to the rear of the SolaHD S5KC UPS; the other is a small sensor that is attached to the external battery using a screw or thermal adhesive connection. See Figure 2 for an image of these connections.

S5KC Series Quick-Start Guide 3. Viewing Battery Temperature The SolaHD S5KC UPS provides a display on its front for control and status. As shown in Figure 3, the display has an LCD, menu buttons (F1 ~ F5), six LEDs, and two control buttons.
Figure 3: SolaHD UPS Front Display From the home screen, press the F4 menu button in sequence until the Battery set screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 4. Confirm ‘External battery AH’ is ok (This value is based on the external battery specification). If the AH of external long back-up battery is set to 0AH the UPS will assume no external battery is present and the temperature sensor will not work.

Figure 4: Battery set screen From the home screen, press the F3 menu button, the battery screen will be displayed, as shown in Figure 5. From the first battery status screen, press the F5 menu button and the function of F3/F4 menu button switches from ‘Left/Right’ to ‘Up/Down’. At this point press the F4 menu button to scroll down to display the remaining battery data. If this battery screen displays Batt temp, the external battery temperature sensor is communicating correctly, as shown in Figure 6.
