Battery tray How to use buttons ENTER: Executes the menu NEXT: Goes to the next menu PREV: Goes to the previous menu * Both NEXT and PREV buttons are used to change the menu. 1. Press the NEXT or PREV button to turn on the power. *To power off, select [PwOFF] and press the ENTER button. 2. Press the NEXT button to display [Setup], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the NEXT button to display the setting item, then press the ENTER button. Opening/Closing Access Door Opening Access Door 1. Slide the battery pack/memory card cover in the direction of the arrow. 2. Flip open the cover to revile the battery compartment and memory card slot. Closing Access Door 1. Flip the cover closed in direction of the arrow. Inserting Battery 2. Slide the battery pack/memory card cover in the direction of the arrow to close. Pull out the battery tray, pinch the tab and pull out. Set the battery pack in the tray making sure the direction of the arrows match and return it into the camera. Charging Battery 1. Turn off the power to the camera. *Note: Charging will not be possible when the camera is turned on. CHG (Charge) Lamp 2. Connect the camera to the computer or USB outlet with the micro USB cable. The CHG (Charge) lamp will turn on. 3. When charging is finished, the CHG (Charge) lamp will turn off. If connected to a computer, eject the device before removing USB Cable. MicroSD & MicroSDHC Memory Card 1. To Insert the microSD or micro SDHC memory card, slide it into the slot with connectors going in first and facing DOWN. 2. Push the memory card into slot until you feel it click. *Note: Do not force the card in if it does not click into place. Check to see if you have inserted the card correctly. Memory Stick Miro (Mark2) Media 1. To Insert the Memory Stick Micro (Mark2) memory card, slide it into the slot with connectors going first and facing UP. 2. Push the memory card into slot until you feel it click. *Note: Do not force the card in if it does not click into place. Check to see if you have inserted the card correctly. *NOTE: To eject/remove the memory card, lightly push the memory card once and you will feel the click ejecting the card, then pull the card out. Recordable Time (Footage) Below are the approximate recording time and number photos recorded onto memory card. Setting Display r 1. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. 2. Press the NEXT button to display [FORMT], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the ENTER button to display [SURE?] while [OK] is displayed, then press the ENTER button. *Note: To cancel formatting, press the NEXT button to select [CANCL] while [SURE?] or [OK] is displayed, then press the ENTER button. 4. Formatting will begin and [DONE] will appear when formatting finishes. Recording Mode Setting Display r Display 1. 2. 3. 4. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. SteadyShot By activating the SteadyShot, it reduces camera-shake when shooting. Setting Display 1. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. r 2. Press the NEXT button to display [STEDY], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the NEXT button to select the setting, then press the ENTER button. Uses SteadyShot. Does not use SteadyShot. Returns to the [STEADY] menu. *Note: SteadyShot can only be used in 1200 Field Angle. SteadyShot will be inactive in 1700 Field Angle. Field Angle Field Angle changes the field of view from Standard to Wide shot for recording. Setting Display 1. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. r 2. Press the NEXT button to display [ANGLE], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the NEXT button to select the setting, then press the ENTER button. Records with a field angle of 1700. Records with a field angle of 1200. Returns to the [ANGLE] menu. *Note: SteadyShot can only be used in 1200 Field Angle. SteadyShot will be inactive in 1700 Field Angle. Interval Photo Recording (Time-lapse) Interval photo recording records photos continuously at regular intervals until recording is stopped. Setting Display r 1. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. 2. Press the NEXT button to display [LAPSE], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the NEXT button to select the setting, then press the ENTER button. Continues to record photos at about 5-second intervals. Continues to record photos at about 10-second intervals. Continues to record photos at about 30-second intervals. Continues to record photos at about 60-second intervals. Returns to the [LAPSE] menu. Smart Remote Control (Connecting to a Smartphone) By connecting the camera and smartphone through Wi-Fi, you can operate the camera via a smartphone. Setting Display r 1. Press the NEXT button to display [SETUP], then press the ENTER button. 2. Press the NEXT button to display [RMOTE], then press the ENTER button. 3. Press the NEXT button to select the setting, then press the ENTER button. Operates by the smartphone. Does not operate by the smartphone. Returns to the [RMOTE] menu. Setting The Smartphone To Connect To The Camera 1. Install “Playmemories Mobile” on your smartphone. 2. Set the smartphone. iPhone Connection Setup 1. Select [Settings] -> [Wi-Fi Networks] -> [Choose a Network] on your smartphone to select the camera. 2. Enter the password provided to complete the setting. 3. Start “PlayMemories Mobile” application on the smartphone. 4. Your smartphone is now connected to the camera. Android Connection Setup 1. Start “PlayMemories Mobile” application on the smartphone. 2. Enter the password provided to complete the setting. 3. Your smartphone is now connected to the camera. Shooting Display 1. Turn on the power, press the NEXT button to display [MOVIE] or [INTVL], then press the REC START/STOP button. *Note: The REC/access lamp lights up when shooting starts. 2. Press the REC START/STOP button again to stop shooting. About the HOLD switch The HOLD switch can prevent accidental operation. By sliding the HOLD switch in the direction of to lock. To release the lock, slide it in the opposite direction of . Available Accessories Waterproof Case (SPK-AS1) The ruggedized Sony Action Cam Waterproof Case is rated to a depth of 197’ (60 m) and it is also resistant to sand, dirt, dust and mud. The case features an extra-large record start/stop button, which allows easy operation even if you’re wearing gloves. It also features a standard 1/4”-20 tripod thread on the bottom, which facilitates attachment to most of the Action Cam Mounts and to a tripod. The Waterproof Case is ideal for surfing, kayaking, snowboarding, snorkeling, skiing and more. Headband Mount (BLT-HB1) The Sony Headband Mount for Action Cam lets you capture hands-free Full HD video with your Sony Action Cam. Just mount the camera in the Headband Mount and you’re ready to go. This easy to use, light weight mount is ideal for skiing, skateboarding, hiking, running, cycling, snowboarding and more. Handlebar Mount (VCT-HM1) The Sony Action Cam Handlebar Mount works with the Action Cam’s included waterproof case. The adjustable mount is designed for capturing point-of-view recordings while cycling, but the mount will also fit on a variety of other bars with a diameter between 0.88” and 1.3”. Plus, since Action Cam’s waterproof case protects it against water, dirt and grime, there’s no need to worry about mud puddles or rainstorms. Suction Cup Accessory The Sony Action Cam Suction Cup Mount lets you capture hands-free Full HD video with your Sony Action Cam. Just mount the camera to any non-porous surface including cars and boats. You’ll be able to safely shoot video at high-speeds. The Action Cam attaches to the mount via the waterproof housing that’s included with the camera. This easy to use, lightweight mount is ideal for racing, driving, boating and more. Gorillapod Tripod The Joby Gorillapod Original Flexible Mini-Tripod is an ultra-versatile mini-tripod that can be used with lightweight compact cameras. Its three multi-segmented flexible legs can be formed to grip almost any protrusion, be it a branch, doorknob, rock, or uneven surface. Waterproof Case (SPK-AS1) By inserting the camera in the Waterproof Case, you can shoot movies in the rain or at a beach. The case is waterproof down to a depth of 197’ (60 m). 1. Slide the buckle lock in the direction of (1) and hold it, then hold the circled parts which swing out the buckle in the direction of (2). 2. Open the case cover. 3. Insert the camera into the case body. *Note: Set your settings before inserting the camera into the waterproof case. The [NEXT] and [PREV] buttons will not be accessible once inside of the case. 4. Insert the tab of the case cover into the slot of the case body. 5. Hook the buckle over the tab on the lower part of the case cover (1), then close the buckle in the direction of (2), until it clicks into place. 6. To Start Recording, press the START/STOP button. It will start recording with what was last set. *Note: You cannot operate the START/STOP button when the HOLD lever is set to the lock position. Release the lock before operation. Notes On Use - The case is waterproof down to a depth of 197’ (60 m). Do not throw the Waterproof Case into the water. Avoid using the Waterproof Case under the following situations: - in a very hot or humid place. - in water hotter than 1040 F (400 C) - at temperatures lower than 320 F (00 C) Do not leave the Waterproof Case under direct sunlight in a very hot and humid place for a long period of time. If you cannot avoid leaving the Waterproof Case under direct sunlight, be sure to cover the Waterproof Case with a towel or other protection - When the camera overheats, it may automatically turn off or recording may malfunction. To use the camera again, leave it in a cool place for a while to cool down. Headband Mount (BLT-HB1) The headcam mount will allow you to fasten the camera to your head. Attaching The Camera 1. Release the buckle lock (1) and open Holder B in the direction of (2). 2. Attach the camera to the Holder A (1), then close Holder B (2). 3. Close the buckle lock. - The tilt of the holder can be adjusted by loosening the M5 coin screw. After loosening the screw, fasten it again firmly. - The length of the head strap is adjustable. - You can attach the camera in either direction. Notes On Use - The Headband Mount is not dust-proof, splash-proof, waterproof. Do not use in the rain or near water. - Depending on how the head strap is fastened or the conditions of use, the camera may be subject to vibrations. Handlebar Mount (VCT-HM1) How to attach and adjust 1. Align the tripod screw hole of the Waterproof Case with the camera mounting screw of the cradle. 2. Secure the Waterproof Case by turning the camera mounting knob. 3. To adjust the angel of the mounting plate, press and hold the button on the left side of the cradle, and adjust angle.
