Huawei Germany Research Centre (GRC) in Munich is responsible for advanced technical research, architecture evolution design and strategic technical planning. For our Lightfield & Soundfield reproduction technology Lab within the GRC, we are looking for
Soundfield / Acoustic Systems Expert (m/f) who will contribute to the research and development of soundfield reproduction technologies for our near future products. The Lightfield & Soundfield reproduction technology Lab in Munich is carrying out research on innovative technologies for soundfield / 3D sound capture, processing, rendering and reproducing, enhancing the capabilities of Huawei’s future mobile devices. You will contribute to: study and design of headphone or smart phone sound capture and playback prototypes for mobile devices, and Virtual or Augmented Reality applications with a focus to acoustic system design, research and development.
Your Responsibilities: Ensure project planning, quality deliverables and transferring of competences and research results to stakeholders. Conduct acoustic system design, research, prototype development on mobile devices, e.g., headphone, smartphone, generate IPRs and coordinate relevant R&D activities locally and in China headquarters. Coordinate and take responsibilities for (EU or national) funded projects and develop internal/external collaborations and strategic research partnerships. Promote thought leadership participating in conferences or other relevant technology events.
Our Requirements:
PhD. or M.S. in Acoustical or Electrical Engineering, or Physics, specializing in audio acoustics. Minimum of 7 years working experience in acoustic system design and R&D, excellent skills in headphone, smartphone acoustic development, preferably also in signal processing. Possess at least one of the following skills: In-depth knowledge of acoustics, and a wide range of knowledge on transducers and enclosures for headphone and smartphone, including organic and polymer materials, and transducer
component manufacturing.
Strong problem-solving capabilities on acoustic design, and ability to translate product
requirements into acoustic design options knowledge of headphone performance metrics and measurement techniques Experience of developing, specifying and verifying transducers for headphone and smartphone, and headphone assembly processes and production testing Knowledge of binaural processing and sound field processing
Other desired skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, team spirit and independent working style Hands-on and can-do attitude Ability to cooperate with a team of international experts in different areas including product lines and R&D Willingness for worldwide short-term travels Fluency in spoken and written English; German and/or Chinese would be a plus Excellent intercultural and coordination skills Contribute to project planning and analysis phases Experience as interface of industry, academia, authorities and institutions in Europe
