Designed to meet all requirements for backgroundmusic and speech broadcast, the MERLAUD speakers are able to meet all your demands for music and PA installations. All enclosures are equipped with suitable speaker components and multi - impedance line transformer. All plastic cabinets are made of extremely durable ABS material resistant against shocks. All metallic cabinets are built of 10 / 10 thick steel sheet electroplated after manufacturing and Epoxy painted. All wood cabinets have teak luxurious finish with acoustical cloth covering grille.
MERLAUD
The mounting accessories are adapted to each type of speaker : Enclosures have screw terminals or wire connection (see individual specification) All speakers provided for outdoor use are weatherproof. Speaker components are silicone coated. Only varnish impregnated transformers are used. Evoprene rings are mounted on every join. Selector switches are protected under screw mounted cover with Evoprene rings. All output cables pass through a weatherproof outlet.

CHOICE OF A SPEAKER ASSEMBLY The choice of an enclosure depends upon the following : a) Total sound pressure level needed to overcome the ambient noise. The calculation of this level at a given point is based on the speaker's sound pressure level as stated in dB/W/m, the distance from the speaker position and the total power of the speaker. b) The loudspeaker directivity for reverberant rooms c) aesthetic to match the room decor d) weatherproof characteristics for outdoor use e) mounting type (surface or flush) Useful information : - the acceptable frequency response will be : . 200 - 6000 Hz for speech . 200 - 8000 Hz for background music - Frequencies below 300Hz may deteriorate intelligibility in reverberant rooms. - Sound attenuation versus distance from the source is more important for high frequencies (treble) than low frequencies (bass). - Column speakers (CA - CT) have higher directivity than enclosures with individual speakers. Suitable for reverberant rooms. - Horn speakers (HPC - HMC) are waterproof with high SPL. Ideal for outdoor use (large area or high noise level). - OD920TE - HD 15T - PA15 (PA12) are waterproof. Ideal for outdoor use. - PEM10TP is suitable for installation where a vandal-resistant speaker is required.
SPEAKERS & TRANSFORMERS Different models of speaker component are used to equip all different types of MERLAUD range of enclosures. All these speakers are wideband with high frequencies cone or tweeter. All membranes are silicone coated. The nominal power of the loudspeaker is based on a continuous input signal (noise) while the maximum power is based on a short term input signal. Loudspeakers input power should never be higher than the given maximum power. Nominal impedance is 8 ohms. The sound pressure level per watt at a distance of one metre is the maximum sound pressure level within the bandwidth limits. The frequency response is the range of frequencies within the limits where the attenuation of the sound pressure level as measured along the reference axis at a distance of one metre and one watt input power will not be more than 10 dBA with respect to the average sound pressure level. All measurements are carried with MLSSA software. MLSSA allows for measurements in a normal field while avoiding reflection effect (similar to an anechoic chamber). Measurements are carried in the same conditions for all loudspeakers with matching line transformers connected. Individual curves are available on request. Enclosures are equipped with multi - impedance matching line transformers. All these transformers are varnish impregnated for weather resistance. Outputs are available on soldering pins.
