SPECIFICATIONS DETECTORS: ¾ Suitable for operating voltage range of 15-30 volts DC when the system voltage is 24 V, DC. ¾ The detector shall be plug-in type facilitating easy removal and installation ¾ The detector should be of solid state type ¾ Each detector must have LED for indication of fire. ¾ Each detector should have the facility for extension of connection to the response indicator. ¾ The detector should have the provision of protection from reverse polarity. ¾ The body of the detector should be fabricated out of such material, which can sustain fire for reasonable period. ¾ The temperature range of the heat detector for its activation should be 55° C to 60° C. ¾ Ionization detectors shall not be more than one year old at the time of installation. ¾ The detectors shall have phosphor bronze spring held under tension by fusiable soldered link in order to achieve fixed temperature sensing features. ¾ Each detector should be marked with zone number and detector number, which can easily be observed from a convenient place. For example- Z-5 / 7 indicate s that the detector belongs to zone 5 and it is at serial no 7 in that zone. ¾ The number of detectors to be connected to a single zone should not exceed 15. RESPONSE INDICATOR: ¾ It should be housed in cubicle box having the normal size of 3 inch x 4 inch x 2 inch fabricated out of M.S. / Aluminium. ¾ There should be two LEDs in response indicator. ¾ Mounted to facilitate its viewing from an angle of 60 degree minimum. ¾ Zone number should be marked on the R.I. on front plate. MANUAL CALL POINT / PILL BOX: ¾ Made out of M.S. sheet / cast aluminum & powder coated. ¾ Size- approximately 3 inch x 4 inch. ¾ Mounting height shall be 1.2 m Above floor level. It must have hammer & chain and gasket to make it vermin & dust proof. ¾ Glass front cover shall have write up “ BREAK GLASS IN CASE OF FIRE” HOOTERS: ¾ The hooters shall be of electronic solid state type speakers cum siren having interrupted tone for ‘Alert’ & ‘continuous tone’ for evacuation alarm. The interrupted tone shall be ON for 3 seconds & OFF for 1 second. ¾ The hooters shall be suitable for an audible range of equal to 80 dB (20 to 25 mtrs) having a frequency range of 500Hz to 1000Hz. ¾ The hooter output shall be approximately 4 Watts. ¾ The hooters shall be suitable for single / dual tone audible alarm & public address. ¾ The hooters shall also be suitable for wall mounting incorporating hooter cards & speaker inside a metallic box. ¾ The control panel shall actuate the hooter. ¾ The hooters shall operate on 24V D.C supply. CONTROL PANELS: ¾ The panel shall be fabricated from 16 gauge (1.6 mm) CRCA sheet, wall / floor mounting type completely dust & vermin proof with neoprene gasket, front openable type with hinged door. ¾ The panels shall have glass door with lock & key arrangement. ¾ Suitable knocks outs shall be provided for termination of conduits & cable glands. ¾ The panels shall be powder coated. ¾ All components & their wiring shall be arranged so as to be conveniently attended to from the front of panels. ¾ All indicating lamps shall be LED type & of the following colours. The fire conditions shall be indicated by twin lamps. a) Red to indicate FIRE conditions. b) Amber to indicate FAULT condition. c) Green to indicate HEALTHY condition. ¾ The indicating lamps, control switches, push buttons & fuses shall be located in the front of the panels. This shall be unambiguously labeled. ¾ The primary alarm circuit shall be cent percent of solid state type without any moving parts. ¾ All printed circuit boards (PCB s) used in the panels shall be plug in type. The PCBs shall be suitably protected against atmospheric corrosion. ¾ All rotary switches used shall be robust & shall have silver plated contacts. ¾ Necessary test switches / push buttons for testing of circuits & control panel lamps. ¾ Panel sounder & its silencing switch shall be provided. ¾ The neutral of the system shall be earthed with the body of the control. MAIN CONTROL PANEL: ¾ Main control panel shall be equipped with power pack & public address system in addition to monitoring of local floors for automatic fire detection like local control panel. The additional features in respect of main control panel shall be as under. ¾ The main control panel shall receive signal from local control panel on various floors & shall repeat the same on main panel like zone. ¾ The main control panel shall be provided with measuring instruments for measurement of DC voltage & current. ¾ The main control panel shall have following VISUAL supervisory facilities in respect of power supply. a) MAINS ON or SYSTEM ON INDICATION WITH SWITCH b) ‘BATTERY ON LOAD’ INDICATION c) ‘BATTERY DISCHARGED / LOW’ INDICATION d) ‘BATTERY ON CHARGE’ INDICATION e) ‘DC FUSE BLOWN’ INDICATION f) ISOLATION OF ZONE FOR TESTING PURPOSES AS PER CLAUSE (FILE BELOW) g) OPERATION OF SILENSING SWITCH WHEN THERE IS NO ALARM CONDITION h) PA SYSTEM ON ¾ Facility shall be to test zones individually by simulating fault or fire condition. Each zone shall be capable of isolation for maintenance or test purposes, leaving the remaining zones in healthy conditions so that fire detection in those zones is not affected. Visual indication of such isolation shall be available in the main control panel. ¾ This panel shall also be provided with the following. a) Switches to operate the fire alarm sounders zone wise & also collectively at all zones b) Change over switch to PA system c) PA system equipments & panel microphone d) Voltmeters with protective fuses for both AC & DC supplies. e) Battery charger rate Ammeter. f) AC / DC ammeter to indicate the system current of suitable range. ¾ On clearance of a fault or a fire condition as the case may be the system shall reset automatically. ¾ Three normally open & three normally closed contacts for the following shall be incorporated in the design of the panel i. Provision for automatic connection to fire engineers through external public telephone lines. ii. Operation of pressurization system, Air conditioning system & remote alarm etc. ¾ Provision of switch to actuate the alarm on various floors shall be made in the main control panel ¾ The alarm shall be acknowledged within 30 seconds. In case of alarm is not acknowledged within 30 seconds, general evacuation cum alert alarm shall be sounded on various floors. ¾ The main control panel shall be equipped with facility to acknowledge the alarm on various floors, in addition to, acknowledging the same on the local floor. ¾ The main control panel shall have auto/manual sounder switch for giving evacuation alarm & public address. ¾ The main control panel shall have switches for isolating of any floor along with indications. Faults signals must be indicated in respect of particular floor when isolating switch is operated. ¾ The main control panel shall be designed such that the equipments for power supply, battery charging, maintenance free sealed battery & P A system are housed in separate & independent compartments. Lead acid batteries shall however not to be used. ¾ Audio visual indication shall be provided in this panel for the following: a) Fire in any zone connected to this panel. b) Fault in any zone connected to this panel including fault in wiring to the local control panel & removal of any fire detector / disconnection of leads to detectors. c) Faults in this panel itself. d) Main supply failure. e) Low voltage battery. f) AC fuse blown out. g) DC fuse blown out. LOCAL CONTROL PANEL: ¾ The control panel shall continuously supervise OPEN, SHORT in detectors, cabling / wiring with audio visual alarm distinct from fire & shall indicate fault in corresponding zone & shall also transmit the fault signals to main control panel & repeat the audio visible alarm there. ¾ The control panel shall have as many number of zone models as stipulated in the scope of work. Each PCB shall not have more than zones per card. ¾ The control panel shall provide the following facilities in respect of each zone for testing the circuit by simulating for i) Fire alarm. ii) faults ( short / open) An alarm shall be sounded whenever position is changed from ‘NORMAL’ Position. ¾ Each zone shall have facility to isolate leaving remaining zones in healthy conditions to ensure that fire and / or fault is detected properly. ¾ Silencing of sounder shall not prevent fire alarm being activated in any other zone simultaneously. ¾ Any fault / signal including fault testing which the panel might be experiencing shall not prevent the fire alarm being given if the detector activates at the same time. ¾ The control panel provides the following supervisory facilities. a) ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Zone isolation and healthy (normal) with indication & push button for each zone. b) Accept test push button. c) Reset push button. d) Fault isolate / silence push button. Circuit and of panel shall be such that operation / failure of one indicator does not prevent the proper and independent operation of other indicator. Double indication lamp in parallel shall be provided for each visual indication associated with audio alarm. Option of any fire alarm sounder or transmission of signal to main panel shall not depend upon the operation of the indicator and shall not be stop by any defect / failure of indicator. The panel shall derive power from the main control panel and shall provide for following indications: i. MAINS ON ii. SYSTEM ON ¾ All control, indicating and alarm panel should cent percent solid state without use of any moving parts. The printed circuit boards used in the panel shall be plug in fixing arrangement in order to facilitate quick replacement during maintenance. The printed circuit board should be protected from corrosion. ¾ Each panel shall provide three normally open and three normally closed potential free contacts for interlocking the operation of air handling equipments and for computers in switch room. POWER SUPPLY: ¾ The entire system shall be suitable to operate on 230 Volt + 10%, 50 Hz, single phase A.C. supply with 24 V. D.C. ‘maintenance free’ sealed battery as a secondary source. The main features of power supply shall be as under: a) The power supply unit shall consist of solid state power rectifier of adequate capacity so as to provide 24V. Stabilized D.C. power as output while receiving 230 V. + 10%, A.C. supply. b) The unit shall also have solid state battery charger circuit for charging of maintenance free sealed battery whenever the battery is discharged below predetermined level. The charger shall have trickle charging facility. c) The normal voltage of the battery shall be 24 V. D.C. and it shall be capable of maintaining the maximum load of the system at adequate voltage for at least one hour in addition to the standing load or losses for at least 48 hours. The capacity of the battery shall be 45 AH or the capacity shall be derived at the rate of 2 ampere hour per zone whichever is higher. d) e) f) g) Means shall be provided to prevent secondary battery from discharging through the charging equipment in the event of its break down or failure. A fault signal shall be given in either case. Suitable overload protection devices like fuses and circuit breakers shall be provided in order to minimize the risk of failure etc. The protective devices shall be provided as near as possible to close the source of supply. The unit has automatic change over facility from A.C. to battery & vice versa in accordance with A.C. supply position. The battery shall be housed inside the control panel itself. PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM: ¾ The main control panel shall incorporate built in amplifier of adequate capacity with selector switches for alert and evacuation alarm and public address to all the floors. ¾ The amplifier shall work on 24 Volt D.C. power supply devices from the main control panel. Automatic change over facility for uninterrupted service shall be provided. ¾ The amplifier shall be capable of receiving two numbers auxiliary inputs in the form of photo cassettes player in addition to permitting connections of two microphones. ¾ Master control for adjustment of volume shall be provided. ¾ Active base and treble control with cut boost for creating desired total quantity should be provided. ¾ The amplifier unit shall have complete protection against over load, short circuit, wrong battery polarity and other accidental mistakes. ¾ LED shall be provided for monitoring and indicating out put level. ¾ The amplifier shall have ‘hum and noise’ level better than 60 Db. TESTING AND COMMISSIONING: ¾ After completion of the work, the contractor has to conduct the testing of the entire system in presence of Engineer-in-charge or his authorized representative. Only after completion of satisfactory pre-commissioning tests, the system will be commissioned for beneficial use of IACS. GURANTEE: ¾ The M.C.P. / L.C.P. / Hooters etc. shall be guaranteed by the manufacturers / suppliers for a period of 12 months from the date of acceptance testing. The contractor executing fire detection work has to produce guarantee card from manufacturers for free replacement / rectification of defective components within this period. However, firm executing the work shall be responsible for over all guarantee of all equipments.
