Miner integration overview
Miner integration overview Spectrum Miner is Spectrum's solution for generating insights from analyzing customer behavior; Portrait Dialogue is a customer interaction solution that converts disparate customer interactions into a connected two-way dialogue across all channels for greater customer engagement. The integration between Spectrum Miner and Portrait Dialogue allows analytical results and insights, such as targeting groups identified in Spectrum Miner to be shared with and deployed directly in an operational environment. This happens through the exporting of a list of customer identifiers (and optionally a per customer score) to create a new category in Portrait Dialogue that can be used to select the target customers.
Spectrum Miner The following pre-requisites are required for the installation of the plug-in components to support the export of scores/lists from Spectrum Miner to a Portrait Dialogue installation. • Spectrum Miner 7.2 server/desktop is installed. • A command line SQL client is installed on the server/desktop machine on which the plug-in is to be installed (for example, sqlcmd for SQL Server or sqlplus for Oracle) and can be run by all users of the Spectrum Miner server/desktop. • Spectrum Miner server/desktop machine and the Portrait Dialogue database server have access to a common file system to which both the user performing the export and the database system user have read/write permission. • The Portrait Dialogue database server is on a network that is visible to all users of the Spectrum Miner server/desktop. • The user performing the installation has access to a simple text editor on the Spectrum Miner server/desktop installation machine.
Portrait Dialogue The following pre-requisites are required for successful use of the plug-in. • Portrait Dialogue 6.1 is installed. • Portrait Dialogue is running on a case insensitive database. • Portrait Dialogue database server and the Spectrum Miner server/desktop machine have access to a common file system to which both the user performing the export and the database system user have read/write permission.

• In order to make use of any exported categories, the Categories system data group must be present in the customer domain that the categories are being exported to. • Note: SQL Server 2000 is no longer a supported database for the export capability.

Spectrum Miner Export Plug-in Installation
Spectrum Miner to PD Export Plug-in Installation By default, the Portrait Dialogue integration component is installed in the 'ext' directory of the Spectrum Miner server or desktop installation, that is, if the Spectrum Miner 7.2 installation is at C:\SpectrumMiner_7.2 then the component will be located at folder to C:\SpectrumMiner_7.2\ext\millionhandshakes To configure the component for you specific Dialogue installation, complete the following steps: • Browse to the new millionhandshakes component folder (C:\SpectrumMiner_7.2\ext\millionhandshakes) and open the javastartup.xml file and set the values for your installation for the following properties:
Property
Description
MH_DATABASE_TYPE
The type of database that Portrait Dialogue is installed on (must be one of MSSQL or ORACLE).
MH_INSTANCE
The Portrait Dialogue instance name (that is, the name of the database shown in the Visual Dialogue login window) that this installation will export to.
MH_USERNAME
The Portrait Dialogue user name (that is, the username used to log into Visual Dialogue) that any exports will be performed under.
MH_PASSWORD
The password for the above user (that is, the password used to log into Visual Dialogue).
MH_WH_BASE_URL
This is the base URL for the Portrait Dialogue web services and will typically be:
http://
/MHDialogServerAPI/ Note: The URL must be terminated by a '/'.
MH_EXPORT_DIR
The path to a directory that this installation will export its data to. Typically this will be a directory in the default Portrait Dialogue share as a UNC path e.g. \\\MH\Imports although it may also be a mapped drive. The important point is that this location must be visible to both the Spectrum Miner server and the Portrait Dialogue database server (so a UNC path is recommended).

Property
Description
MH_IMPORT_DIR
This is the path to the directory that the Spectrum Dialogue database server will look in to locate the files containing the data to import. Generally this will be the same UNC location as MH_EXPORT_DIR but can be a different name so long as they both point to the same physical location on disk. Note: For Portrait Dialogue systems using Oracle, this value is unused and the export location must be to a defined Oracle directory named MH_IMPORT.
MH_EXPORT_CODEPAGE
The local codepage for text files on the Dialogue database server. Use this property to specify the codepage to use when generating the list or scores file to be imported to Dialogue e.g.
