Installation Mounting Tips • It is recommended you install these speakers to a solid surface such as wood studs. If installing to a material such as drywall, ensure that the surface can support the weight of the speakers. The use of wall anchors is highly recommended. • Before securing the speakers to your desired mounting surface, ensure the speakers will clear any obstacles such as lighting fixtures, door or window frames, ceilings, etc. • While these are outdoor speakers, you will extend the life of these speakers if they are installed in an area where they receive minimal exposure to the elements. • The mounting brackets provided allow you to mount the speakers either horizontally or vertically and to aim the speakers in a precise direction that facilitates optimum sound quality. • If, at any time, you are unsure regarding the installation process, contact either VM Audio or a professional installer for assistance.

Connecting the Speakers to Your Receiver
Troubleshooting
Tab Connection
No Sound
(SR-WOD4/SR-WOD8)
1. Strip the red and black receiver wires approximately ½” to expose the bare wire. Ensure there are no frayed wires by twisting any frayed ends together. 2. Pull the red tab down on the back of the speaker and insert the red (positive) wire into the hole. Release the tab to secure the connection. Repeat this step for the black (negative wire) and black tab on the speaker.
Binding Post Connection
(SR-WOD5/SR-WOD6)
1. Strip the red and black receiver wires approximately ½” to expose the bare wire. Ensure there are no frayed wires by twisting any frayed ends together. 2. Unscrew the tops of the binding posts on the backs of the speakers in a counterclockwise direction to reveal the holes drilled through the metal posts.
• Check the speaker wires and ensure they have a solid connection to all the speaker terminals on each speaker and on the amplifier or receiver. • Check that the receiver or amplifier is powered “on” at the mains, is not on “mute”, has no headphones attached and that the channels used for the speakers (usually A or B) is in operation. • Refer to the owner’s guide that came with your receiver or amplifier for troubleshooting guidelines for the unit. • Most initial problems are connectivity, please try a different connection cable to your in-ceiling speakers or equipment.
No Sound from One Speaker • Check the “balance” control on your receiver amplifier. • Check all connections and cable to the inoperable speaker. • Disconnect the “working” speaker from the receiver amplifier connection/channel. Switch the cord from the non-operating speaker from its current connection to the “working” speaker connection. If the speaker now works, the problem is your receiver amplifier. • Reconnect as original. Remove the speaker cable at the “working” speaker directly and connect it directly to the non-working speaker. If the speaker now works, the problem is somewhere in the original speaker cable. • If the speaker still does not work the problem is the speaker.
3. Connect the red (positive) wire to the positive binding post. This is the post on the right when facing the back of the speakers. Connect the black (negative) wire to the black (negative) binding post. 4. Tighten the binding posts by screwing the tops in a clockwise direction.
