SSDR 401 Digital Video Recording System User’s Guide (Motion Detective) Thank you for using our SSDR 401 Digital Video Recorder very much. This product is a field-tested version of its kind guaranteed for its reliability in quality and compatibility with motion detection for storage economy. Before installation, please read this Guide and start installation according to the instructions shown in it. CAUTION In case the hard disk is not built in this recorder, the hard disk must first be installed and locked for secure mounting and then the recorder be supplied with electric power. The SSDR 401 may not work properly or not be switched on unless the HDD has been installed in the recorder. Therefore it is advisable not to install a used hard disk for this recorder. Irregular static sound may occur in that case. MAIN MENU 1. Initial Setup Once the HDD has been installed, and the monitor and cameras have been connected to the DVR, then the following message will appear on the screen when power is given. Then the unit checks its states of the master and slave automatically as hard drives below. HDD Checking... MASTER HARD DRIVE SAMSUNG …… SLAVE HARD DRIVE NOT DETECTED This user-friendly equipment will satisfy your various needs according to the instructions you give to the set. The initial setup can be made by selection of items popped up on the monitor when the menu key is pushed. The following are the functions that can be changed by setup. Access to Main Menu : Push the “MENU” button on the front panel. 1 MAIN MENU VER 2.06 > RECORD SELECT 1234 RECORD MODE EACH RECORD FRAME-RATE 30 VIDEO QUALITY NORMAL RECORD SCHEDULE SUB MENU HARD DRIVE SETUP SENSOR SETUP HDD REC SEQUENCE MASTER PRESS(UP, DOWN),THEN (SELECT) PRESS (MENU) TO EXIT Jump to Other Items : UP/DOWN keys Selection of Items : Push the SEL key on the front panel. Record Mode There are two options, EACH or QUAD, in the recording mode. More information on each mode is given below. EACH Mode : The images of each channel are recorded in full screen separately from one another occupying relatively more storage space (HDD capacity) than in the other mode. The advantage of this mode is that you can select the images of any channel independently when you want to play them back. QUAD Mode(or “ALL” as printed on the set) : The images of each channel are recorded in a fourth space of the full screen prearranged for the channel. Accordingly the size of stored data is smaller than in the other mode and therefore you can enjoy the image sets of all channels at the same time in the real time mode. In this mode, however, you cannot see the images of a particular channel in full screen. 2 View Control : In case of the “EACH” mode, you can select a camera(s) for full screen by pushing the following keys shown on the front panel. “CH1” button : Images of camera 1 appear in full screen. When the button is pushed again, images are shown in auto switching order, i.e., starting from channel 1. “CH2” button : Images of camera 2 appear in full screen. When the button is pushed again, images are shown in auto switching order, i.e., starting from channel 2. “CH3” button : Images of camera 3 appear in full screen. When the button is pushed again, images are shown in auto switching order, i.e., starting from channel 3. “CH4” button : Images of camera 4 appear in full screen. When the button is pushed again, images are shown in auto switching order, i.e., starting from channel 4. *** Recording is made for all channels regardless of the view control mode. 4. Record Frame-rate The factory default setup is made for 30 frames per second. This means our video recorder stores images on the HDD 30 images or sets of images per second. The higher the recording frame-rate, the more natural photos will be displayed on the screen when you play them back. The lower the recording frame-rate, the less natural images you get whereas the more space you can save on your hard disk drive. There are 10 different recording frame-rates you can choose including 9 and 8 options, for NTSC and PAL systems respectively. 5. Video Quality There are three different video quality ratings : NORMAL, LOW, and HIGH. You can enjoy clearer images than in other ratings when you choose the “HIGH” rating. But, in this rating, the size of stored data is considerably larger than in the other ratings. The factory default is set at “NORMAL.” If you want to enjoy clearer and more natural images in playback, arrange your quality rating at “HIGH” when recording. 6. Record Schedule Using the following options(24-hour timeframe), you can select a recording schedule as follows. If you opt to attach a sensor to the DVR, you may enjoy additional functions. 3 PROGRAMMED RECORDING + TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT+ 0 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 PRESS (UP, DOWN), THEN (SELECT) PRESS (MENU) TO EXIT The numbers shown on screen represent 24 hours in a day. When scheduling finished, keep the REC button pushed for sensor-triggered recording. The characters (or space) in the following screen boxes represent the respective states of recording. (T) indicates non-stop automatic recording. In other words, this means recording is made throughout 24 hours without interruption. (S) means sensor-attached recording. It means a movement should be made in front of the sensor in order for the scenes to be recorded. (_) means that recording is not made in this timeframe. For example, to schedule 1:00~3:00 : Sensor-attached recording, 3:00~6:00/12:00~15:00 : No recording, and 22:00~23:00 : Sensor-attached recording, the arrangement is made as follows. +TSST--TTTTTTT--TTTTTTT S S T+ 0 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 7.
