In 2001 we designed the first mobile Cellular Signal Booster in North America. We continue to lead with the most powerful and intelligent cellular boosters in the world. The X2 booster increases incoming and outgoing signals. The LED console display signal level indicators make installation quick and easy. Features automatic oscillation control, network overload protection to maintain maximum gain automatically at all times. Stealth X2 boosters are recommended for areas located 15 km to 60 km from the cell tower. HOW IT WORKS: The outside antenna receives cellular signal from the tower and sends it to the booster to be amplified and broadcast into the building through the inside antenna. The inside antenna receives cellular signal from the phone or cellular device and sends it to the booster to be amplified and broadcast to the network through the outside antenna HOW LARGE AN AREA WILL IT COVER: Coverage area is effected by two things. Outside signal and booster gain. If the outside signal is strong and the building is making the inside signal weak, the gain of the booster does not have to be very high to achieve a large coverage area. Conversely, if the outside signal is very low because the tower is far away, then the coverage area will be small and a booster with higher gain will be required to achieve greater coverage. For example: if the outside signal is fair to good a Stealth X2 60 will cover up to 4000 sqft. If the signal is poor coverage will shrink and cases where the signal is very low the coverage area may only be a few feet from the inside antenna. NOTE: Stealth X2 boosters are recommended for locations between 15 km to 60 km from the cellular tower. Note: Even if your device shows no bars or “no service” it is possible that there is enough cellular signal for a booster to achieve communication with the network. TIPS ON SET UP • Mount outside antenna on side of building or roof where the strongest signal is indicated on your cellular device. • If mounting the antenna outside is not possible place it on a window where the strongest signal is indicated on your cellular device. • Inside and outside antennas require distance (separation) to avoid oscillation (feedback) and gain reduction. • If the green lights on the booster are flashing, please refer to the user manual for instructions. • Do a dry installation of the product before drilling holes in walls to ensure product is correct for the application. Location tower mapping Use Canadian Tower Map locater to determine the following: distance from local towers and frequencies of local towers http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html STEALTHTECH OSCILLATION & OVERLOAD PROTECTION STEALTH TECH® amplifiers and boosters automatically control gain to eliminate oscillations (feedback loops) and strong signal overload from nearby towers. Both of these automatic functions will reduce gain and gain reduction will be indicated by the gain lights on the booster. Oscillation: Occurs when isolation between the inside and outside antenna is less than the system gain and signal from one antenna reaches the other antenna creating a feedback loop. This is causes by the booster and antennas coming too close to one another. (Figure 1) Antenna separation vertically and or horizontally will increase isolation that will result in increased gain. Strong signal overload: is caused by close proximity to a cell tower. a) In the case where a strong signal from a service provider other than the provider you are trying to boost causes gain reduction, moving the outside antenna to a different location or the use of a directional antenna pointing directly to the serving cell may help. b) In the case where a strong signal from the desired serving cell causes gain reduction, all is OK and there no need to take any remedial action. Determining if gain reduction is caused by Strong Signal Overload or Oscillation : a) For overload check: Turn off the booster, remove the inside antenna and turn on the booster. If the gain lights are flashing, then there is strong signal present. b) For Oscillation check: If you have determined that there is no Strong Signal Overload gain reduction, connect both antennas and turn on the booster. If the gain lights are flashing, then there is oscillation present. Figure 1 Smoothtalker R Cellular Signal Boosters - Boosting Your Signal Anywhere
