Our gaming storage products are suitable for: • Slot machines • AWPs • Arcade games • On-line gaming machines • Multiplayer games 2 Security Features of SSDs for Gaming Machines Innodisk storage devices with write protect security features provide a hardwarebased mechanism for data protection. Once a user enables this function, it will prevent anyone from modifying the data. Using the Innodisk exclusive iSMART tool, the write protect function can be enabled/disabled with the touch of one button. Our SSDs are outfitted with GPIO and can include optional functions,, such as write Write Protect on Devices protection. There are two ways to trigger write protect: by manually switching on the function, or by triggering it via a jumper and a pin header. Innodisk provides a Partition of Storage function through our exclusive firmware designed in-house. This function can solve security, audit, or compliance issues Partition of Storage and enable management of shared storage assets by different groups. Innodisk SSDs are divided into three parts (with different security functions): Public, ROM, and Hidden Area. Through this multiple partition, users can access and read/write to an individual area of the SSD by selecting a specific command. We take pride in tailoring our storage solutions to a customer’s specific requirements. 3 Application Story USB Issue with a Jumper Option The situation Innodisk has an existing customer located in Las Vegas that specializes in digital slot machines within the gaming industry. They have a consumer based solution for a USB thumb drive that is used to verify information and record data. Their issue concerned the sourcing and security of USB thumb drives because the consumer products tend to change quickly with life cycles around 3-6 months. The company needed a product that extended that life cycle to 3-5 years. They discussed their challenge with 3 competitive vendors and Innodisk. After discussing it with our team, it was determined that they needed a more tamper resistant solution, while the USB thumb drive is in use. Currently, they already had a switch on their USB, however it wasn’t an ideal solution that provided the additional protection desired. The solution The Innodisk team determined that a customized solution was required to elevate the security for their USB thumb drive. We tailored a solution that allowed write protect to be enabled via a jumper that could be inserted into the USB thumb drive. Therefore, when the jumper was inserted to the thumb drive it allowed the user to record data. When removing the jumper, it puts the thumb drive in a read only mode. This jumper solution provided the security required by the customer and ensured the desired life cycle of the product. The payoff One of the challenges facing the client was that the vendors were more interested in selling a product “as is” without any customization. Innodisk was the only vendor that allowed for a tailored solution and services, which addressed all of the customers concerns.
