OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODEL 3806ZL SUITE UNIT TO ARM (TURN ON) YOUR SYSTEM 1. Check the red window above the arming buttons to see that all LEDs are off This indicates that all protection points are normal. If any LED is lit, this indicates that a protection point is off-normal (open) and must be restored (closed) before the suite unit can be armed (turned on). 2. Enter your four digit user code. Press each number button firmly until you hear a beep. If you are not sure that you have entered the correct digits, press the backspace button (*) four times to backspace your entry. You may then re-enter your four digit code. 3. Press the FULL ARM button. In a moment, the beeper will start pulsing and the red ARMED/ALARM LED will start flashing. You now have 30 seconds to leave your suite. 4. If you attempt to arm the suite unit with one of the zone LEDs lit, the suite unit will beep once and nothing more will happen. Try and close up the zone or see ZONE BYPASS on page 4. 1 TO DISARM (TURN OFF) YOUR SYSTEM 1. When you enter your suite, the beeper will start sounding. This is to remind you to disarm your system. 2. Enter your four digit user code. Press each number button firmly until you hear a beep. As before in arming, you may use the backspace button (*) to permit re-entering the code. 3. Press the DISARM button firmly. In a moment the beeping will stop and the ARMED/ALARM LED will extinguish. The system is now turned off. TO ACKNOWLEDGE AN ALARM If an alarm occurs while you are in your suite, (e.g. the hall door is opened while the panel is SLEEP armed), the beeper will start sounding and the ARMED/ ALARM LED will be flashing. To turn the beeper off, enter your four digit user code and then press the DISARM button. DIRECT ENTRY BUTTONS: To the left of the number buttons, notice the buttons labelled FIRE, PANIC and MEDICAL. These buttons are used to summon the desired service. 2 It is not necessary to enter your user code to use these buttons. To activate any of these buttons, firmly press and hold the button for about three seconds. The beeper will sound a distinctive pattern for each of the buttons and then the ARMED/ALARM LED will start flashing. The concierge or alarm monitoring company (if used) will receive a text message indicating which service you have selected and will follow their response procedure. OTHER KEYPAD FEATURES: HOME ARM - allows you to remain in your suite with part of the protection turned on. The entry/exit door is on but interior motion sensors (if any) are not on. Opening the door will sound the entry beeper. You must disarm the suite unit to stop the beeper. Enter your four digit user code followed by the HOME button. Notice that the red ARMED/ ALARM LED will blink for approximately 30 seconds and then remain on. During this 'silent exit time' you may leave the suite via the entry/exit door. If the entry/exit door is opened while the LED is on steady, the entry beeper will start. You must disarm the suite unit within 30 seconds (see DISARM above) to stop the beeper or an intrusion alarm will be created. If you wait too long and an intrusion alarm is created, disarm the suite unit (see page 2) to stop the beeper. 3 SLEEP ARM - allows you to remain in your suite with part of the protection turned on. The entry/exit door is on but interior motion sensors (if any) are not on. Opening the door will cause an immediate intrusion alarm. You must disarm the suite unit to stop the beeper. Enter your four digit user code followed by the SLEEP button. Notice that the red ARMED/ALARM LED will come on in a moment. If the entry/exit door is opened while the LED is on steady, an intrusion alarm will occur immediately. You must disarm the suite unit (see DISARM above) to stop the beeper. DOOR CHIME - allows you to be alerted any time the entry/exit door is opened. To turn on the chime feature, firmly press and release the FUNCTION button and then the number 1 button. The suite unit will beep for two seconds. Every time the entry/exit door is opened, the suite unit will beep for two seconds. To turn off the chime feature, press and release the FUNCTION button and then the number 2 button. ZONE BYPASS - allows you to bypass a valid zone e.g., a window you might want left open while the protection is turned on. 4 To bypass a zone, firmly press and release the FUNCTION button and then the number 3 button. The BYPASS LED (lower right front) on the suite unit will be blinking. Firmly press the number of the zone to be bypassed (1-4) and the blinking led will be on steady. The zone is now bypassed. To bypass additional zones, repeat the above procedure. To unbypass a zone(s), disarm the suite unit (see page 2). The bypass LED will extinguish. USER CODES The suite panel can be operated by five different users. These persons are called USER 1, USER 2, USER 3, etc. By identifying who armed and disarmed your suite unit, this will create an audit trail which will let you know who has been in and out of your suite. A user must be given a four digit code. It is important not to forget these codes. USING THE DEFAULT CODE When you take occupancy of your suite, a default user code' 1010' has been assigned to user number 1. Since all suite units in the building will be given same code, it is essential that this code be changed to one that you prefer. It may be your year of birth, the last four digits of your telephone number, or any other number from '0001' to '9999'. Users 2 thru 5 have no 5 'default' setting and must be given new codes. Check with the property management office or building security as to the policy for submitting your codes to them or receiving your codes from them. The programming of the codes into the system must be done by management/security and may require you to prepare a list noting the user number followed by a four digit code. After these codes have been entered into the system, then you may then use the codes on your suite unit. ZONE ASSIGNMENT TABLE The following table may be filled out to provide a description of the protection circuit connected to each zone in the suite unit. When a zone is off-normal, the corresponding LED on the suite unit will light. ZONE DESCRIPTION 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 EMERGENCY NUMBERS POLICE: FIRE DEPT: AMBULANCE: DOCTOR: HOSPITAL: OTHER: 7
