The model with built-in DVD multi drive
Supplements to the manuals Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the VS-2480DVD (the model with a built-in DVD multi drive). The owner’s manual contained in this package explains the use of a CD-RW drive with the VS-2480HD and the VS-2480CD. Most operations are the same on the VS-2480DVD with a built-in DVD multi drive. Please read “CD-RW drive” in the VS-2480 manual as “DVD multi drive.” This document provides supplemental information that does not appear in the VS-2480’s manual.

■ Handling of DVD-R/RW discs ❍ Please pay attention same as CD-R/RW discs (See “Handling CD-R/RW discs” on p.6 of VS-2480 Owner’s Manual).
◆ About the version of system software ◆ The operating system of the VS-2480DVD is version 2.5 or later and is compatible with the VS8F-3 Plug-In Effect Expansion Board (sold separately). You can install and use a VS8F-3 immediately upon purchase of the VS-2480DVD. Please read the manual for information regarding the installation of the VS8F-3. Also, please read “VS-2480CD” in the owner’s manual of VS8F-3 as “VS-2480DVD.”

About DVD multi drive The built-in DVD multi drive of the VS-2480DVD will add reading and writing capability for DVD-R/ DVD-RW/CD-R/CD-RW discs to the digital studio workstation. Various DVD discs can be used for project data backup and recovery on the VS-2480DVD.

* You cannot use DVD+R discs, DVD+RW discs, and DVD-RAM discs. * The following two types of DVD-R/RW discs are commercially sold. For Authoring (for professional/business use) For General (for private/hobby use) Discs for Authoring cannot be used on the multi drive of the VS-2480DVD. Please use discs for General. * If you are using discs from manufacturers not stated above, you may experience errors during writing. * Two types of DVD-R/RW disc are commercially available; one for “data,” the other for “video.” The VS-2480DVD can use either of these types.

Functions for utilizing DVD-R/RW discs You can utilize DVD-R/RW discs for the following two VS-2480DVD functions.
Project back up
Please see “BACKUP” on p.105 of VS-2480 owner’s manual.
◆ In case you are using DVD-R discs In the same way as with CD-R discs, you can carry out a backup onto a DVD-R disc only once. You cannot amend or delete the backup data.
◆ If DVD-RW discs already contain data In the same way as with CD-RW discs, you cannot add project data to the blank part of a DVD-RW disc that already contains some data. Before using such discs for backup, all of the data on the disc must be erased. If such a disc is loaded, the “CD-RW Erase?” dialog appears during the operation. Pressing ENTER/YES will execute erasure of the data contained on the disc and start the backup.
◆ Time it takes to perform backup The amount of time required to perform a backup depends on the type of discs used. The time stated below will be how long it takes to back up a 4 GB project. Type of Disc DVD-R DVD-RW CD-R CD-RW

Writing and reading speed from/to discs All the speed parameters for writing and reading are set to “MAX” automatically in all the operations using the DVD multi drive.

Specifications Specification of the VS-2480DVD is as same as the VS-2480CD except the DVD multi drive and accessories. Please refer “SPECIFICATION” on p.123 of VS-2480/VS-2480CD appendices.
