Get the facts. Answers to your common questions about our exclusive line of Sustainable Earth by Staples® remanufactured toner. What is a remanufactured cartridge? A remanufactured cartridge is recycled and reprocessed from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) empty core. Our remanufactured cartridges are produced using stringent quality control standards under an ISO 9001:2000 quality system. We use only lab-tested components to ensure consistent OEM-equivalent performance. What is the process? A typical production process includes inspection and replacement of key components as needed, such as the organic photo conductor (OPC) drum, wiper blade, primary charge roller (PCR) and magnetic roller. One of the most critical parts of a cartridge is the OPC drum. New drums are made specifically for remanufacturers to have a harder and more durable surface than the OEM cartridge. We use only new drums in our cartridges to ensure OEM-equivalent results. What kind of performance can I expect? There will be no difference in print quality or page yield with a property remanufactured cartridge. Our cartridges contain only quality toners that work well with the OPC drum and other replacement parts to meet OEM performance. Will using remanufactured toner cartridges void my equipment warranty? Law prohibits manufacturers from voiding their warranty obligations on the grounds that a consumer did not use the original manufacturer’s replacement cartridge.

What kind of warranty comes with Sustainable Earth by Staples remanufactured toner cartridges? Our cartridges are backed by a 1-year quality warranty. If a cartridge does not meet your expectations, simply notify customer service and return the cartridge in the box it came in. Be sure to include a page sample showing the print-quality problem. The cartridge will then be evaluated and replaced if necessary. Please refer to our Product Warranty for details. Why don’t more businesses recycle? Basically, this is due to lack of education. The office products remanufacturing industry has been around for almost two decades. We’re working to educate consumers about the value of remanufactured cartridges and the advancements the industry has made. Through public relations campaigns and local, state and federal legislation, more users are realizing the added value and comparable quality of remanufactured cartridges. Am I really helping the environment by using remanufactured cartridges? Definitely. Each discarded cartridge adds approximately 2.5 pounds of unnecessary waste to our landfills – waste that will take as long as 1,000 years to decompose. It’s estimated that 100 million laser and printer cartridges are produced each year. Remanufacturing these cartridges will save an estimated 3 million cubic feet of landfill space.

10-step quality assurance process. How we build the quality you demand into every product.
Sustainable Earth by Staples® remanufactured toner cartridges are built with a comprehensive 10-step process to ensure they meet and exceed our highest standards.
6. Sealing. Each toner hopper is sealed with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) style seal. Our quality sealing process ensures a leakproof cartridge and ease of installation.
1. Incoming raw materials inspection. Before going to the production floor, raw material quality is verified using stringent standards.
7. Assembly. Trained technicians assemble all cartridges with OEM-grade compatible components (up to 75% new components are used in each cartridge). The assembly process includes installation of a drum, wiper blade, doctor blade, primary charge roller (PCR) and magnetic roller.
2. Sort and grade. All empty cartridges are sorted and graded. Only premium empty cartridges are used in our products. 3. Recycle. All used packaging materials, used hoppers and nonconforming components are disassembled and recycled. 4. Split and clean. Premium empty cartridges are carefully disassembled and cleaned. We precisely split the toner hopper with custom splitting equipment and prepare them for the sealing phase. 5. Digital auto filling. Automated filling equipment is used to ensure precise fill weights for each cartridge. Toner hoppers are filled with premium toners, which are technically matched to the organic photo conductor (OPC) drum for optimum yield and print performance.

8. 100% post-production testing. Every cartridge is post-production tested, utilizing industry standard print tests to ensure outstanding performance and quality. 9. Packaging. All cartridges receive a final inspection. Before being boxed, cartridges are cleaned, polished and heat-sealed in a static-resistant bag. Installation instructions and warranty information are included with each box. 10. Quality control. Dedicated Quality Control experts monitor each step in our production process, conducting regular and spot inspections to ensure our products will meet your expectations.
Choose from unlimited print possibilities. With our remanufactured toners, you’ve got options. Thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (U.S. Code, Title 15, Chapter 50, Section 2302), you’re not limited to using toner cartridges made by your printer’s manufacturer. The act is a federal law prohibiting manufacturers from conditioning their product warranty coverage solely on a customer’s use of a particular brand of supplies or products in conjunction with the manufacturer’s product. This means that a printer manufacturer cannot automatically void or refuse to honor the warranty of a printer because you’ve used Sustainable Earth by Staples® or Diversity Products Solutions by StaplesTM ink or toner. If your printer’s service representative claims that their warranty does not apply to charges for a service call because you’re not using the manufacturer’s supplies, ask for this statement in writing and contact your Staples® sales representative.
Even more protection with our 1-year warranty. Our ink and toner is designed to meet or exceed the performance of the original equipment manufacturer’s ink and toner. If, in the unlikely event our ink or toner was the source of damage to your equipment, you are protected by our warranty. At our discretion, we will either reimburse you for the cost of repairs or replace with an equivalent printer (with adequate documentation from the service technician).

A warranty you can count on. When you purchase Sustainable Earth by Staples® remanufactured toner, know you’re covered with our 1-year limited warranty. This warranty comes with your purchase of every one of our remanufactured toner cartridges.
Staples the Office Superstore, LLC (“Staples”) warrants to the original purchaser that this Sustainable Earth by Staples toner cartridge shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material or workmanship for period of time equal to the earlier of the life of the cartridge (until the toner is depleted) or for one year from date of purchase. Your toner is depleted when you begin to see faded or light type on your printed page or, if applicable, your printer indicated a “toner low” message. Staples will replace any defective Sustainable Earth by Staples toner cartridge free of charge. Staples further warrants that the toner cartridge, under normal use, will not cause damage, abnormal wear or deterioration to any printer for which the cartridge was intended. If use of a Sustainable Earth by Staples toner cartridge results in such printer damage, abnormal wear or deterioration, Staples will, in its sole discretion, either reimburse the cost to repair the damaged printer or replace with an equivalent printer. This reimbursement or replacement shall be the sole remedy for such damage. Any claim for reimbursement or replacement under this warranty must include satisfactory evidence that the
cartridge was directly responsible for any such damage, abnormal wear or deterioration, such as documentation from the service technician and, for reimbursement, the invoice evidencing the amount paid for such repair. This warranty does not apply to normal wear or damage from misuse, abuse, improper storage and handling, installation, accident, repair or alteration. In no event will Staples be liable for any incidental, indirect, special, punitive or consequential damages (such as but not limited to damages for loss of profits, business, savings, data or records) related to this product. Except as stated herein, no other warranties shall apply. Some states, provinces and territories do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages or limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary depending upon your state, province, territory or country. At Staples Business Advantage®, we make it easy to recycle your old ink and toner cartridges, regardless of their brand. Together we’re not only cleaning up our landfills, but also minimizing waste of limited resources like plastic, steel, aluminum and rubber. To date, Staples has recycled more than 400 million ink and toner cartridges. There are three free and easy ways for you to join the effort. 1. Our driver pickup program. Staples® drivers collect cartridges from you every time a delivery is made. 2. Prepaid return mailing labels. Mail your cartridges to us for free by printing a prepaid label from StaplesAdvantage.com. 3. Pallet pickup. For large quantities (50 or more cartridges from a loading dock), email
