PURPOSE OF SOLICITATION: The intent of this Request for Bid is to solicit Bids from companies that design, and install fiber optic cable. SUSQUEHANNA COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT intends to select a company and award the bid to perform the installation of 10 gigabit fiber optic cable to improve network communication within the elementary and high school buildings. Please note that responses to this Bid must be received on June 13, 2014 by 11:00 am at the address below. Three (3) copies of the response must be sealed and delivered to: Susquehanna Community School District 3192 Turnpike Street Susquehanna, PA 18847 Re: Bid for the installation of 10 gigabit fiber optic cable within the elementary and high school buildings. BACKGROUND Susquehanna Community School District currently uses standard CAT 5 network cable to link all users on our internal network. Susquehanna Community School District intends to install 10 gigabit fiber optic cable in addition to the CAT 5 networking cable within both the elementary and high school buildings to improve the efficiency and speed of our current network. Susquehanna Community School District anticipates a substantial increase in bandwidth, more reliable data transmission, and a reduction in overall network upkeep and hardware. Susquehanna Community School District intends to structure the program's implementation schedule in a manner to minimize the programs financed capital needs. Respondents to this Request for Bid shall identify their experience and qualification to design and install a fiber optic cable capable of supporting a multi-user network. III. SERVICES REQUESTED For this Bid, Susquehanna Community School District is interested in working with a fiber optic networking company for the design and installation of 10 gigabit capable fiber optic network upgrade. Susquehanna Community School District has the option to contract all or some of the services listed above. The Susquehanna Community School District is requesting bid amounts to replace CAT 5 networking cable with 10 gigabit fiber optic cable. The district is requesting a bid price for the two levels of fiber optic cable listed. The elementary building will require three building upgrades detailed as follows: 1. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – MAIN CLOSET – MC-A – MAIN LEVEL - UPGRADE OVERVIEW / SCOPE (1) Provide / Install / Label (1) One each Corning – WCH-12P - Wall-mountable Connector Housing (12 panel slots available) at location. {Including all strain relief / locking kit / etc, see BOM}. {Note: Larger enclosure being installed to accommodate any future fiber optic cable / single-mode fiber connectivity to High School} (2) Provide / Install / Label, (1) One each Corning – CCH-CP12-E4 – 12 Fiber – Duplex LC – (OM3 / 4) Fiber Termination Panel within Enclosure for current project fiber installation. 2. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - PROPOSED - FIBER OPTIC BACKBONE INSTALLATION – MC-A TO TC- “MAIN OFFICE” (1) Provide all necessary 2” EMT Conduit Fire Wall Core Penetrations / Conduit Sleeves / Fire Stopping along fiber pathway route to facilitate pathway. (2) Provide / Install (1) One each Caddy 2” J Hook – Beam Clamp Raceway Pathway above drop ceiling of school between both points to attach/ support fiber optic backbone at rafter height above drop ceiling for new Corning Multimode Fiber Optic Backbone Installation. All Caddy J Hooks to be attached at maximum 4’ intervals between to steel roof beam structure via steel beam clamp attachments. All Caddy J Hook Routes to be labeled with Fiber Optic Warning labels every 8’ along route. (3) Provide / Install / Terminate / Certify / Label (1) one each Corning 12 Fiber Multimode OM4 – Pretium 550 – Armored MIC cable from MC-A to TC via 2” Caddy J Hook Pathway System (see drawings). Fiber to be terminated via Corning Multimode Pretium OM4 Unicam LC Terminations at each end (All 12 fibers to be terminated / each end). 25’ Service Coil to be placed / attached neatly in ceiling above each end of the fiber route for future maintenance needs. The High School will require eleven (11) upgrades detailed as follows: 1.
