There are 8 Modules created by Silver Wheels that help explain RWGPS. This module is for the Mobile Phone App.
Online Help is Your Friend Your first stop for assistance is the Help Section. (It can’t help you find a saddle that fits.) Once logged into either your Personal Account or the Club Account, the Help Button is along the top row. Look for the category you are interested in, or type key words into the search bar. In the training modules, look for the green boxes for links to RWGPS help with detailed information, screen shots and videos. Please use the training modules in the spirit in which they were intended. The RWGPS online help is the authority, our modules are simply our best effort in making the transition period a bit easier for you. We did not test every operating system or every browser. Things may have changed or happen differently than

expected. Just like on a Silver Wheels’ ride…..

In the set-up process you may have already been asked to set up the mobile app on a screen like shown above. If not, go to your phone’s app store and download the app. Sign in using the name and password you used on the website. Additional help on getting the app loaded is on the next page. 3
Mobile App Set Up and Features The video at the web link in the green box below shows how to get the app loaded to either your iPhone or Android, starting at around the 1:40 mark. The next page will list some of the features of the mobile app and link to RWGPS help pages. In the iPhone example to the right, notice the 4 tabs across the bottom, the three horizontal lines Menu icon in the upper left and the Go Ride icon in the upper right.

Sortable
Navigation - Verbal and Visual For a side by side comparison of the important iPhone and Android navigation screens shots, please read this page - https:// ridewithgps.com/help/voice-navigation. This page has great information and examples. If that overview wasn't enough, or you are having trouble sleeping, there are more detailed descriptions and links on the next several pages. 5
Manage Settings - Offline Mode Offline Mode - When activated, the app will not use any data through the cellular network or wifi. If you try to access any features that require a network connection, you will get a prompt telling you to go back online. This is one way to limit the amount of cellular data that your phone uses without putting the device into airplane mode. 6
Manage Settings - Logging Interval and Interval Alerts https://ridewithgps.com/help/manage-settings-onmobile#accountsettings will show you the screen for setting a home location, default ride privacy, messages, comments, updates, and segments. https://ridewithgps.com/help/manage-settings-onmobile#logging describes interval logging for the app to record GPS data - 1, 2, 5 or 10 seconds. Tap right carrot to select your options. If you want your ride time to be only the time spent in motion, enable Auto Pause. https:// ridewithgps.com/help/auto-pause Interval alerts are discussed half way down this page https://ridewithgps.com/help/manage-settings-onmobile and you can set either a time or distance interval to include the content you want to hear verbally. Tap the right carrot to select options such as speed, distance, elevation, remaining distance, time, etc.
7
Manage Settings - Navigation Cue Notification option gives you the choice to be notified earlier than the standard default. https://ridewithgps.com/help/managesettings-on-mobile#navigation explains each of the options on the right. iPhone and Android interfaces are different (duh) but the RWGPS options and functionality are the same. Advance cue warnings are made 1/4 mile away, nearing cues are 10-15 seconds before the cue, visual alert is a popup, audio alerts are 3 chimes, spoken means your cues are said out loud, and off course alerts play a chime whenever you are 50 meters off.
8
Handlebar Mode on Android The Handlebar Mode on an Android allows RWGPS to turn the screen on to announce a cue without having to unlock your phone. It can be activated by tapping GO RIDE, tap the menu icon, and tap +HANDLEBAR MODE to place the check mark. You can set your screen to Never On, Only while Navigating, or Always On. There is the ability to lock the display to either Portrait or Landscape mode. 9
Mange Settings - In Ride Settings https://ridewithgps.com/help/managesettings-on-mobile#in-ride-settings shows what is available while out riding your bike on an iPhone or Android. Some options to explore are auto rotating maps to reflect the direction you are riding, auto pause to stop recording when you are stopped, map types and directional arrows. 10
How to Find and Ride a Club Route
To ride a Club Route, tap the three horizontal line Menu bar, and then tap Club Routes. Swipe down to reveal the filter box and sort icons. The sort options are Distance, Elevation Gain, Date and Name. Find the route you want to ride. Tap the three dots next to the ride. Next, you need to tap Ride This. Other than trying to follow all those annoying arrows, wasn’t that easy? 11
Offline Maps (You should have enabled this on Page 6)
https://ridewithgps.com/help/offline-mapsiphone has a short movie and good descriptions. First open the app, tap the three bars, tap Club Routes, swipe, filter and/or sort to find the ride and tap the ride, tap the three dots, tap the download choice, and then pick the Save Map and Route option. Tap Save.
https://ridewithgps.com/help/sorting-on-mobile Your phone screen will go to your Downloaded Routes page while it takes a few seconds to load to your phone. Notice the two orange icons showing you have both the turn information and the map tiles. 12
Ride a Downloaded Route Now, lets go ride the route we just downloaded. Tap the three horizontal lines Menu to open the menu bar. Next, tap on Available Offline. Tap on the black Diamond shaped icon with the turn arrow inside it to bring top the map with your current location. Or you can tap the three dots and then select Ride This.

Record a Ride Without Using a Route Record Button
https://ridewithgps.com/help/record-your-first-ride Sometimes you just want to ride and you don’t want to use no stinking route. On the home page, tap Go Ride. On an iPhone Go Ride is in upper right corner, and on an Android it is on the bottom. Your current location will lock in as the blue dot. To start recording, tap the Record button. If you want to pause the recording, tap the Record button again. Tap the Record button to restart the ride recording. Once you are finished riding, press the Record button and a Pause screen pops up. To save the ride, tap the Check Mark icon and fill in the ride details if you want. Your ride is now in your Rides library. To delete the ride, tap the trash can or the X. 14
Pinning - Just Like a Favorite Review this page https://ridewithgps.com/help/pinning-and-sharing-on-mobile for specifics to quickly locate a favorite route. Shall we see what routes are nearby us today? Tap the three horizontal line Menu and tap Search Routes. Enter your starting location, distance from start, length, and a keyword or two. A list of routes that match your criteria will be displayed. On an iPhone, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner and tap Pin on the route. On an Android, simply tap the thumb tack icon. To view your pinned routes, tap the three horizontal line Menu and tap Pinned. This is a great way to have today’s ride ready to go when you arrive at the starting point a little bit late. Remember, you can also see your Pinned rides and routes on your Personal Home page. Anywhere you see the orange thumb tack, you can select and have it appear on your mobile app and Home Page. 15
Changing the Visible Metrics While recording a ride, you can swipe between two pages with 5 metrics each. If you want to change a metric displayed on either screen, get off your bike and hold down any of the five visible metrics for a few seconds to get a list of replacement metrics. There are about 25 choices you can select, but you will need the appropriate paired sensor for a few of the metrics to actually work. Don't try to change the metrics while riding near me; this is something you should do while you are of the bike. However, you can easily change the size of the metrics and map areas to full screen while riding. See https:// ridewithgps.com/help/full-screen-metrics-and-map. 16
