Enjoy the professional’s resistance pool… right in your own home. If you are buying a resistance pool (a.k.a. swim-in-place pool) for your home, there are three key areas to ask about: 1. Water Flow How is the water flow created? How strong is it? How deep, broad and consistent is the current? 2. Construction, Warranty & Maintenance How is the pool built? What kind of warranty will I get? Will the pool be difficult or costly to maintain? 3. Custom Options Can I customize the pool to meet my specific exercise needs? Can I choose colors and finishes so it looks good in my home? In the pages that follow, you’ll learn how SwimEx answers these questions... and why SwimEx is the choice for people who know. 1 | | Go with the Flow Simply the most versatile & powerful Resistance Pool Available www.swimex.com | 2 It all adds up to a A better workout B The SwimEx Story Paddlewheel Innovation from MIT For 25 years, SwimEx has been the leader and innovator when it comes to resistance pools. Installed all over the world, they are used by private homeowners, hospitals, physical therapists and college & professional sports teams. The SwimEx paddlewheel propulsion system was designed and patented by two MIT engineers. Their unique paddlewheel concept pulls water toward the rear of the pool. Then, it propels the water right back to the front of the pool through specialized tunnels to generate the most powerful counter current on the market. Unlike directional jets or hydraulic propellers, our paddlewheel technology delivers the smoothest, deepest and widest water flow. Infinitely better than a basic lap pool, a SwimEx resistance pool’s water current and therapeutic options can keep you in shape and speed up your rehabilitation. Medical professionals know non-weight bearing activities in water are the best way to recuperate from a variety of medical conditions, joint replacements and injuries. Whether you’re a swimmer, or athlete who wants a robust workout and conditioning, or someone looking for life-changing rehab and recovery, we’re confident a SwimEx pool will meet your needs and exceed your expectations. 3 | | Go with the Flow All About the Flow A B SwimEx sets the standard in resistance pools – no other pool comes close. How can we make such a big claim? It’s because our proprietary paddlewheel propulsion system circulates 0 to 30,000 gallons of water per minute in a smooth river-like current. No other pool company can come anywhere near that. Visit our website for a comparison of competitive brands and their technologies: www.SwimEx.com. better therapy Imagine a consistent wall of water as wide as the pool and up to 30" (76 cm) deep. No matter where you are in the pool, you feel the same, even water resistance. With our variable speed laminar flow, the current is strong enough to challenge even the biggest athletes and gentle enough to soothe arthritic joints. It really is all about the flow. And with SwimEx, you get the best water flow there is. Why the “Wall of Water” Works Better The “wall of water” provides a wider and deeper current so you can be anywhere in the pool and still take advantage of the current. Better resistance means a more intensive workout, whether you are sitting and exercising at a workstation or swimming in the center. You’ll enjoy a smooth aquatic environment that allows you to safely exercise targeted muscles and joints without feeling the sudden jarring motions of a jet pool. www.swimex.com | 4 developed by pioneers in fiberglass with the Vision to See What’s Possible Everett Pearson, SwimEx Founder Fiberglass pioneer Everett Pearson was originally recognized for introducing the first fiberglass production sailboats with the company he co-founded in 1957 — Pearson Yachts. In 1986, Pearson founded SwimEx when he bought the paddlewheel patents from the two MIT engineers. Pearson married his 30 years of design experience and fiberglass expertise with the new paddlewheel technology and the SwimEx brand was born. Mark Pearson, President Suzanne Vaughan, Vice President of Sales Expertise in fiberglass fabrication is a hallmark of the Pearson name. 5 | | Go with the Flow For over 50 years, Pearson and his staff have been involved with many top-of-the-line boats, including J-Boat sailboats and the classic Alerion yachts. The Pearson family and staff have worked on a number of other ‘next generation’ products through their fiberglass-related companies. They include bus and electric car prototypes, wind turbine blades and specialty fabrication projects for Disney theme parks. SwimEx is now a stand-alone company owned and run by the Pearson family. Its sister company, Pearson Pilings, shares the same production plant in Massachusetts. It builds premium fiberglass pilings for piers, docks and house foundations. The standard pit area is 12' x 20' (3.66 m x 6.1 m) (18' x 25' [5.49 m x 7.62 m] for the 1000S) including a drain or sump pump. On average, the electrical service needed is 105 Amps, 208-240V single-phase. Your pool also arrives pre-plumbed needing only simple PVC connections. 21 | | Go with the Flow “ I love to show off our SwimEx pool. the best purchase I have ever made. It is by far ” – Todd Olson | Grasonville, MD www.swimex.com | 22 www.swimex.com | 24 client testimonials “As a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, I had several injuries, the majority of which were in my knees and hip. Since running to get in shape became too hard on my joints, I was excited when the Dodgers installed a SwimEx at their spring training facility. I used the SwimEx there and in several other ballparks around the league. I found that it not only helped with conditioning, but the movement and resistance I got in the water helped relieve stiffness and soreness in my pitching arm and the rest of my body. I retired four years ago and still battle with pain daily, which is why I recently purchased a SwimEx for my home. This way, I can stay in shape with little or no impact on my joints which will help immensely with my career as the father of three boys. I have had a great experience working with the staff at SwimEx. They have been very helpful with everything from choosing the right unit for my needs, to choosing colors, to working with my contractor for installation.” “Our deep water well is particularly important to us. It allows for a totally non-weight bearing environment. Utilizing the pool’s multiple water depths and various workstations, athletes of different sizes and heights and in all stages of injury recovery can run, swim or complete prescribed therapeutic exercise programs against the current.” – Ed Lacerte |Head Athletic Trainer of the Boston Celtics “My SwimEx pool is one of the best investments we ever made. I love it, use it, it is easy to care for, it is efficient to operate and I would be more than happy to show it...SwimEx is a first class company and respects their customers. The pool is wonderful. I don’t think a lot of people realize how cost-friendly the pool actually is to have. And once you figure out where to put it, it is no harder to maintain than weeding your flower beds once a week.” – Vicki | Warrens, WI – Darren Dreifort | Pacific Palisades, CA “Everyone over 65 should have one of these. You can take away any of my appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, dryer), but don’t take my pool!” – Shirley Peterson | Bridgewater, MA “Having a SwimEx pool in our home has enabled us to swim daily throughout the year. SwimEx is the best investment we have ever made for fitness. It gives us all the advantages of a full-size lap pool without the space, cost and maintenance requirements.” – Ben & Marilyn Matthesen | Johns Island, SC 25 | | Go with the Flow “We have had tremendous results in treating our athletes in the SwimEx pool. Not only has it helped speed the recovery of America’s injured athletes, it also offers tremendous benefits in athletic training. Many of our athletes run and swim against the current, which gives them an incredible workout.” – Mr. Bob Beetan | Director of Sports Medicine United States Olympic Committee “We are so proud of our SwimEx pool. It has been such a phenomenal success and has gone way beyond our expectations. We are booked solid and are open 12 hours a day. The SwimEx sets us apart from other practices. We looked at all the other products on the market and decided on SwimEx. SwimEx is the Porsche of pools. The company was extremely helpful throughout the process, and it was a very positive experience. We had 11 agencies to pass for approvals and the SwimEx passed all inspections the first time around. We can easily transport wheelchair patients into the pool and have been very pleased with the design of our space. We are treating a large number of veterans, and they are so thrilled with our SwimEx pool and the treatment we are able to provide.” – Debra Lafreniere | Sterling Provider Services Simi Valley, CA 846 Airport Rd Fall River MA 02720 telephone toll free facsimile 508.646.1600 800.877.7946 508.675.0525 e-mail [email protected] website swimex.com
