The CardioActive™ Entertainment Station is an integrated TV station for use on several SportsArt products. Constructed of high quality materials and designed for years of reliable performance, this accessory was made for full commercial use. Before this product is assembled or operated, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with this manual. Understanding the correct assembly and operation of this product will help ensure that you get optimum results. Please note that SportsArt products use two types of boards for iPod devices. One board only has audio functions. The other board has audio and video functions. Only the audiovideo board is suitable for use with the integrated TV module. Do not use the audio-only board with the integrated TV module. Note: iPod is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the US and other countries. Name Screwdriver bit and geeen handle 1 2 Specifi cation Flat and Phillips Notes 1.3 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Follow instructions below to assemble this product. Note that in this manual the words “left” and “right” are used to refer to the product and its parts. As such, these designations correspond to the “left” and “right” sides of a person in position to exercise on this product. Also, for brevity, the word “screws” is used where screws, washers, and other hardware may be involved. The illustration below shows the integrated TV screen installed on a T672 treadmill. It shows the end result of this assembly process. 3 STEP 1 Remove Covers To access the motor compartment, remove covers as explained in steps (a) through (b) below. (a) Remove screws from the power cord connector, and unplug the cord. (b) Remove the motor left and right covers, top and front covers in the order shown below (a), (b), (c),and (d). (a) (b) b a c a 4 STEP 2 Install the Adapter Install the adapter and its cord as explained in instructions (a) through (f) below. (a) Use the single hole to secure the set strap onto the inside of the front motor cover as shown. (b) Remove the backing from one side of the double-sided foam tape. Use the tape to secure the adapter box (A4) to the inside of the front cover between the two screw holes. (c) Select a suitable hole in the set strap (A8) and use a screw to secure the adapter (A4) into place. (d) Cut off and dispose the unused part of the set strap (A8). (a) (b) (d) (c) 5 STEP 2 Install the Adapter (Continued) (e) Squeeze the sides of the power switch and pull it toward yourself. Disconnect cable connections from the filter and the power switch. Connect cable (A5). Then insert the power switch back into place as shown. (Be careful to ensure that L and N wires are in the correct position.) (e) 6 STEP 2 Install the Adapter (Continued) (f) Secure the ground wire from cable (A5) and the ground wire from the pedestal as shown. (f) 7 STEP 3 Install Cables Follow instructions (a) through (e) to install cables into the pedestal. (a) First, remove the left bottle holder. (b) Insert the end of the cable (A3) with the plastic cover into the hole under the bottle holder. Feed the cable through the pedestal as shown. At the bottom of the pedestal, remove the plastic cover after pulling the cable through the hole in the pedestal mount. At the top of the pedestal, insert the cable up to the line on the cable. (a) (b) 8 STEP 3 Install Cables (Continued) (c) First, remove the terminal bracket and install the appropriate bracket cover plate (A6). Connect cable (A3a) to the cover plate (A6). Then secure the terminal bracket onto the unit as shown. (d) Connect cable (A3b) to the adapter (A4). (Note: After connecting cable (A3b) to the adapter (A4), push the plastic sheath into place to cover the connectors. To the other end of the adapter (A4) connect cable (A5). (e) Secure left and right side motor covers, the upper cover, and the front cover in order (a)(b)(c)(d). (Note: Before securing the front cover, gather cables into the interior as much as possible. (Note: Before securing the front cover, gather cables into the interior as much aspossible.) (e) b c a c 10 STEP 4 Remove the Cutaway Remove the cutaway in the display lower cover as follows. (a) Remove screws from the display lower cover. (b) Remove the sticker from the lower cover. Then use wire cutters to remove the cutaway in area A of the lower cover. 11 STEP 5 Remove the Display Upper Cover Follow instructions (a) through (b) to remove the display upper cover. (a) Open the display upper cover slowly to avoid detaching cables. Disconnect the USB cable. Place the display upper cover flat on the handles. (b) Detach the feeder wire from the left side of the handle. Wrap the feeder wire around the upper part of cable (A3). Then use the feeder wire to pull cable (A3) to the front of the display set plate (a) (b) 12 STEP 6 Install the Integrated TV Module Follow instructions (a) through (e) to install the integrated T module. (a) uide the integrated T module into the hole in the lower cover. (ote While inserting the integrated T module into place feed the cables through the hole in the center of the display lower cover.) (b) Secure screws () first in area A then in area B. After securing the integrated T module carefully cut the ip tie off the cables. (a) (b) A B 13 STEP 6 Install the Integrated TV Module (Continued) (c) First, connect cable (L1) to cable (A3). Then detach the coaxial cable splitter (A7) from the metal plate. Connect CATV and DTV cables to the splitter (A7) as shown. Secure the splitter (A7) onto the display set plate. Then secure the ground wire from cable (L2) onto the splitter (A7) as shown. (c) 14 STEP 6 Install the Integrated TV Module (Continued) (d) Connect the integrated TV cable (L2) to the decoder board for iPod. (Note: Not every decoder board for iPod supports audio-video functions. With the integrated TV module, only use the audio-video decoder board. If not using iPod functions, do not connect cable L2.) (e) Connect the integrated TV cable (L3) to the display circuit board as shown. a (d) (e) 15 b STEP 7 Secure the Display Upper Cover Follow instructions (a) through (c) to secure the display upper cover. (a) Connect the USB cable into place. Organize other cables into place to avoid pinching them. Close the display upper cover. (b) Install the left bottle holder into place. (c) Secure the display upper cover into place. (a) (b) (c) 16 STEP 8 Adjust the TV Screen Angle To secure the angle of the TV at its recommended position, follow instructions on the sticker (inside the neck cover). To secure the TV screen angle at a different position, follow steps (a) through (d) below. (a) Remove the integrated TV module neck cover. (b) Remove the screws at the lower left and right sides of the bracket. Loosen (but do not remove) screws in position (A) until the angle of the TV screen can be adjusted. (c) After adjusting the angle of the integrated TV screen, secure screws in area (A). While aligning screw holes, secure other screws that were removed in step (b). (d) Fit the integrated TV module neck cover to mesh inside the display top cover in area (B). Then secure the integrated TV module neck cover with its screws. (a) (b) A (d) (c) A B 17 STEP 9 TV Cable Installation NTSC system: Directly connect your local TV signal cable to the cable on the unit’s power switch. PAL system: Remove the special connector (A6) from the hardware kit. Connect it to the cable on the unit’s power switch. Then connect your local TV signal cable. 18 CHAPTER 2- CardioActive™ Entertainment Station – Integrated Analog TV Operating Manual 19 CHAPTER 2-CARDIO ACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT STATION (INTEGRATED ANALOG TV) 2.1 TV Operating Instructions Power switch Power LED 1. Press the POWER key to turn on the unit. A green LED on the power switch will light up. (A red LED lights when the unit is not activated.) 2. Wait for the TV screen to light. 3. After turning on, if the screen shows “Video Loss”, there is no input signal. 4. Press the Source key to select your input. TV signal sources include CATV, iPod, and DTV. Among these sources, iPod and DTV are options. 5. Press VOL+/- keys as shown to adjust volume. After you set the volume, the volume window will disappear. 6. Press CH+/- keys as shown to select a channel. 7. The On Screen Display (OSD) menu provides a means to establish settings for brightness, contrast, color saturation, TV scan, and other functions. 20 2.2 CATV Function Settings Connect the analog source cable as shown in Figure (1). Press the source key until 「CATV」 appears in the upper left corner, as shown in Figure (2). 2.3 OSD Menu And Keys in CATV Mode In the CATV mode, after pressing the MENU key, the OSD menu will appear, and key definitions will change. (a) In the main OSD window: ˙The MENU key will become the OK key, used for confirmation. ˙The CH+/- key will become the UP/DOWN key. ˙The VOL- key will become the EXIT key. *If no keys are pressed, the OSD screen will disappear. You can also press the Vol- key to exit the OSD menu. 21 (b) In the secondary OSD window: ˙The MENU key will become the OK key, used for confirmation. ˙The CH+/- key will become the UP/DOWN key. ˙The VOL- key will become the EXIT key. *If no keys are pressed, the OSD screen will disappear. You can also press the VOL- key to return to the main OSD window. (c) In the OSD adjustment window: ˙The VOL-/+ key will become the value decrease/increase key. ˙The MENU key will become the OK key. *If no keys are pressed for a period of time, or if you are finished making adjustments, press the MENU (OK) key to return to the main OSD window. Press the MENU key to enter the OSD window. 2. Press the CH- key to select the SYSTEM setting function. 3. Press the OK (MENU) key to enter the system setting mode. 4. Press the CH- key to select the TV system. 5. Press the OK (MENU) key to enter the TV System setting mode. 6. Press the CH+/- key to select NTSC Cable, PAL B/G, or other modes. After making your selection, press the VOL- key to return to the TV System selection. 7. Press the CH- key to choose TV Scan. 8. Press the OK (MENU) key to start the scan function. Scanning can take a long time. Press the MENU (OK) key to enter the secondary System Setting window. 5. Press the CH- key to choose the iPod System. 6. Press the MENU (OK) key to enter the iPod System setting function. 7. Press the CH+/- key to select ON, turning on the iPod function. 8. After the startup screen appears, iPod mode will begin. Press the Source key to select the CATV mode. 2. Press the MENU key to enter the main OSD menu. 3. Press the CH- key to select the System Setting function. 4. Press the MENU (OK) key to enter the secondary System Setting window. 5. Press the CH- key to select DTV System. 6. Press the MENU (OK) key to enter the DTV System setting function. 7. Press the CH+/- key to select DTV mode (ATSC/DVBT). 8. Continually press the VOL- key to exit the OSD menu. Connect the digital TV signal cable (or wireless antenna) as shown in Figure 3. Press the Source key to select the DTV mode until 「DTV」appears in the left upper corner as shown in Figure 4. For DTV usage, please refer to the digital TV option manual. If your treadmill is equipped with these functions, please note the following. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 3.1 Digital TV System Cable Connections Connect cables for digital TV signal reception as follows. Connect the digital TV cable antenna. Note: Also follow these instructions if, in your area, over-the-air analog and digital signals are simultaneously supported. From the DTV Menu, select Auto Search. Press the MENU(OK) key to select Source Type from the DTV Menu. Press the MENU(OK) key to select Antenna. Press the CH- key to choose the Start Search function from the DTV Menu. Then press the MENU (OK)key to enter the channel scan function. After channel scan is completed, the channel scan completion message will appear. Please wait for this message to disappear. Then be sure to press the Source(EXIT)key to ensure that keys resume their original functions. The scan function takes some time. Please wait patiently for the scan function to be completed. Note: In DTV mode, if the channel scan message appears automatically, hold the Source key for five seconds. (The screen will show no reaction whatsoever.) Release the Source key. Then use VOL+/- to select YES/NO, with YES being confirmation to begin the channel scan function. When the system reverts to the main DTV screen, press the Source(EXIT)key once to exit the DTV MENU control. Keys will resume their original functions. 41 3.7 DVB-T SD (European) Digital TV Functions Note DTV system OSD menu operation: 1. Press the Source key to directly select DTV from the upper left corner and enter the DTV mode. 2. Press the MENU key to enter the OSD screen. 3. Press the CH1 key to select the SYSTEM SETTING function. 4. Press the OK (MENU) key to enter the DTV System setting mode. 5. Press the CH+/- key to select DVBT mode. After making your selection, press the VOL- key to return to DTV System settings. 6. Then press the VOL- key to return to SYSTEM Settings. Then press the VOL- key to return to the SYSTEM Settings, and press the VOL- key again to exit the OSD screen. Different signals are used in different areas, so during initial setup, country code must be established, before the channel scan process can be performed. Follow instructions below to establish the country setting: 1. Hold the Source key for five seconds until the DTV Menu appears. 2. Select the System Setting. Press the MENU ( OK) key. 3. Select Regional Setting, then press the MENU ( OK) key. 4. The Regional Setting menu appears. At Country, press the VOL+ or VOL- key to select elect your country. Countries include TWN (Taiwan), Vietnam, Deutschland, England, Italia, France, Espana, Nederland, Australia, and China. Note: If your country is not included in the list of countries, please refer to the DVB-T Frequency Table and Country List. For example, the country Poland has an 8 MHz regional setting. Because Poland is not listed, simply choose a country with a similar setting, for instance Holland or Spain. 5. The OSD language will change according to the country selected. Select the appropriate country to aid in DTV Menu operation. After establishing country and OSD language settings, press the MENU (OK) key. Note: OSD languages include English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch. 6. After making selections, press the Source (Exit) key to exit the DTV MENU control. After entering the Program Search menu, select Automatic Search. 4. The following message appears: Do you want to start Auto Search? Select OK (by first pressing VOL- and pressing MENU). 5. The following message appears: Do you want to erase your previous channel list? Select YES (by first pressing VOL- and pressing MENU). 6. The channel scan window appears. During the channel scan procedure, do not press any key. Otherwise, an error will occur. 7. After channel scan process has been completed, the DTV screen will appear. (6) Subtitle provides subtitles. (7) Teletext provides access to teletext. (8) Common Interface provides condition assess card menu selection. (9) Conax CA provides conax smart card selection. Note: After the channel scan is completed, the DTV screen appears. Press the Source (Exit) key again to exit the DTV MENU. Keys operation will revert to their original functions (CH+ and CH- will control channels; VOL+ and VOL- will control volume.) 4.1.3 Setup Wizard Troubleshooting The occurrence of the following events will make the Setup Wizard stay on screen after the channel scan function has been completed: (1) if there is a power blackout during the channel scan; (2) if the channel scan begins before an antenna is connected, or if the signal source performs a channel scan during the unit's channel scan. When the power supply is resumed and you turn on the TV, the TV will directly enter DTV mode. The “Setup Wizard”will appear on screen. At this time, hold the Source key for five seconds to enter the DTV Menu. Then use the CH+/- keys to select Auto Search. Finally, press the MENU (OK) key to restart the channel scan. (2) If the antenna has not been installed or the signal source is scanning when the unit scan is started, rectify the situation by carrying out the following instructions. At the end of the channel scan, the “Setup Wizard” screen will appear. At this point, do not press the SOURCE (Exit) key. Just reconnect to the signal source. Use CH+/- keys to select the “START” function. Press the MENU(OK) key to restart the scan function.
