CLIENT - The computer in which the iDataAgent is installed and contains the data to be secured. COMMVAULT – vendor of the backup software that GTS Backup platform runs on. COMMCELL CONSOLE – web-based portal which works as graphical user interface for customers to access the GTS Backup Platform. It that allows to control and manage Backup & Restore, Reporting & Alerting activities. Launching the web console GTS Backup platform may be accessed and managed through the CommCell Console. Before you will launch the CommCell Console be sure that you have the latest Java Runtime Environment installed on the computer from which you are logging in the CommCell Console. In order to open the CommCell Console: 1. Open the web browser. 2. Type in the http address of the platform, which you received from the GTS service provisioning team. 3. Enter the User Name, Password, and name of the CommCell you wish to connect to. 4. Click OK to continue. 5. In a few moments, the CommCell Console will open. Page 1 of 4 GTS BACKUP WEB CONSOLE OVERVIEW Basic Console Components When successfully logged into the CommCell Console, you should see the details related to your backup service. The CommCell Console menu and icon toolbars provide access to the following CommCell Management operations and administrative tasks. These functionalities are also accessible by rightclicking a job, event or component within its respective window. You can navigate through any open CommCell Console windows by using the standard window functions or by using the ctrl+tab keyboard function. MENU BAR The menu bar, located at the top of the CommCell Console, provides access to features and administrative options available for the CommCell. TOOL BAR The Tool Bar provides graphical icons for quick access to several commonly used CommCell Console menu bar functionalities, including Help topics, the Control Panel window, and the Job Controller window. NAVIGATION PANE The navigation pane has two tabs: Content tab and Summary tab. CONTENT TAB This tab displays a list of entities that belong to the selected CommCell Component. For example: When you select Client Computers node from the CommCell Browser, the Content tab displays the list of all the clients connected to the CommServe. You can also use this tab to access any CommCell component. SUMMARY TAB This tab displays properties of the selected CommCell Component. For Example: When you select Client Computers node, the Summary tab displays agent-specific classification of all the clients connected to the CommServe. The Navigation pane displays the content and summary of the following CommCell Console components: COMMCELL BROWSER The CommCell Browser displays the following CommCell components, as well as the administrative and operational tasks associated with them, in a hierarchical tree structure. From your perspective the relevant ones are: Client Computers Security Policies, including: o Schedule Policies (backup schedules explore/modify) Page 2 of 4 GTS BACKUP WEB CONSOLE OVERVIEW o Storage Policies (backup policies explore/modify) Reports, including: o My Reports, which includes reports generated by the user AGENTS The Agents view displays all the Agents currently configured within the CommCell. SUMMARY WINDOW When selected from the Tool Bar or Tools menu, the Summary Window provides quick access to each of the CommCell Browser components. When an individual entity is selected in the CommCell Browser, the Summary Window displays the contents of the selected entity. The tab name changes to correspond to the particular entity that is selected. JOB CONTROLLER The Job Controller window displays all the current jobs in the CommCell. A status bar at the bottom of the job controller shows the total amount of jobs; the amount of jobs that are running, pending, waiting, queued and suspended; and the high and low watermarks. The watermarks indicate the minimum and maximum number of streams that the Job Manager can use simultaneously. EVENT VIEWER The Event Viewer allows you to monitor activities that are occurring within the CommCell. This information is useful for troubleshooting and informational purposes. Configuration Wizard (EZ Configuration) This feature allows you to back up client files and directories from the CommCell Console, and restore them as needed, without requiring expert-level knowledge or an understanding of advanced data management concepts. The EZ Operations feature is performed using the EZ Operations Wizard. You can access the EZ Operations Wizard in the following ways: 1. From the CommCell Console, click the EZ Operations Wizard button on the Toolbar. located OR 2. From the CommCell Console, click Tools, click Control Panel, then double-click EZ Operation Window. The EZ Operations Wizard is displayed. Supported Components EZ Backup and EZ Restore are currently available for use with the Windows and Unix File system iDataAgents. For other iDataAgents (databases, email servers etc.) the standard procedure for Backup & restore must be used. Running an EZ Backup The following procedure describes how to run an EZ Backup using the EZ Operations Wizard. 1. 2. From the EZ Operations Wizard, click the Backup button. The EZ Operations Wizard guides you through the process of configuring schedules, backup options, and alerts. Page 3 of 4 GTS BACKUP WEB CONSOLE OVERVIEW 3. 4. 5. After entering the appropriate information, review your selections on the Summary dialog, then either click Finish to save the changes or Back to return to the previous dialog to change any of the selections. When the backup begins, you can track the progress of the job in the Job Controller. When the status for the job in the Job Controller changes to Completed, the backup has finished. Running an EZ Restore The following procedure describes how to run an EZ Restore using the EZ Operations Wizard. 1. 2. 3. From the EZ Operations Wizard, click the Restore button. The EZ Operations Wizard guides you through the process of choosing browse options, file overwrite options, and restore destinations. After entering the appropriate information, review your selections on the Summary dialog, then either click Finish to save the changes or Back to return to the previous dialog to change any of the selections. Installing Software The following procedure describes how to install software on computers using the EZ Operations Wizard. 1. 2. 3. From the EZ Operations Wizard, click the Install Software button. The Install Wizard guides you to the steps required to install software on client computers. After entering the required information, review your selections on the Summary dialog, the either click Finish to save the changes or Back to return to the previous dialog to change any of the selections.
