Your Tablet Buttons/External features
Status & notification icons Battery Level: Shown fully charged. Charging Indicator: Battery is charging. Device Power Critical: Charge immediately. If not charged, device will shut down. USB Charging Indicator: Connected to PC via USB cable. When connected to a PC, the battery only charges when the device is turned off. USB Connected: Connected to a PC using a USB cable. Updates Available: Updates to the applications you have downloaded are available. Airplane Mode: Airplane Mode is enabled. You can use many of your device’s features, but cannot access online information. New Email Message: You have new email. Touch the icon to view the notification, then touch a notification to view the email. Icons vary, depending on the provider.
New Gmail Message: You have new Gmail. Touch the icon for additional information. Configure input methods: When the keyboard is displayed, touch for a menu of quick keyboard settings. Bluetooth Active: Bluetooth is turned on. Bluetooth Available: Bluetooth is turned on, Bluetooth devices are visible nearby. Bluetooth Paired: Bluetooth is turned on, and the device is paired with another Bluetooth device. Music Player: A song is playing. Touch the Music icon or Status in the System Bar to see the song title and controls. Wi-Fi Active: Wi-Fi service is active, and connected to a Wireless Access Point (WAP). When dormant, the arrows are grey; when sending or receiving data, the arrows blink in colour. GPS Active: Device is searching for a GPS signal.

Setting up your Tablet Charging You will need to charge your Tablet before using it for the first time. The power adaptor comes in two pieces: 1. First you will need to lift the middle pin outwards. 2. Then slide the pin plate into position; you will hear a click once secure.

3. Connect the larger end of the USB cable into the power adaptor, and then plug into an electrical outlet. 4. Plug the smaller end of USB cable into the charging point on the bottom of the Tablet.
Note: The USB leads will only insert the correct way up. Do not use excessive force.

Turning on the Tablet 1. Press and hold the power button for approximately 4 seconds.

Connecting your Bluetooth keyboard The keyboard in your UW case will communicate wirelessly with your Tablet via Bluetooth. But first you have to pair them.
1. Y our keyboard has a built in battery. Make sure it is charged prior to pairing. Move the slider to the On position. Press and hold the Bluetooth/Connect button until the light on the keyboard is flashing blue. 2. On your Tablet press the Home Button followed by the Settings icon 3. Touch the Bluetooth On/Off
and then touch the Apps icon
and select Bluetooth. slider to turn Bluetooth On.
4. Now touch Scan on your Tablet and it will start to scan for Bluetooth devices within range. 5. When you see Bluetooth Keyboard displayed in the Available Devices section, touch the name. Your Tablet will then automatically try to pair with the keyboard. Note: Don’t try this next to someone else doing the same thing as it will get muddled!

6. You will be given a Security Pin. Type the Pin on your keyboard and press Enter.
7. Your keyboard should now be paired successfully to your Tablet and be ready for use. It should remain paired forever so you should only have to do this once!

Connecting your Tablet to a Wi-Fi network 1. On your Tablet press the Home Button followed by the Settings icon 2. Touch the Wi-Fi On/Off switch
and then touch the Apps icon
. to turn Wi-Fi On. Wi-Fi must be On.
3. Touch Scan to begin searching for available Wi-Fi networks.
4. Touch the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to; you will be asked to enter the password (if there is one). Once you have done so, touch Connect.
5. The Tablet will attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network selected and will display its status as shown below.
Note: If it’s not connecting check the range indicator
and repeat the steps above.
Tethering your Tablet to your smartphone Tethering is when you use your smartphone’s 3G data to access the internet on the Tablet. You can do this by adjusting the settings on your smartphone – refer to your smartphone guide. We’ve also put together a guide to tethering which you can find on the Extranet. Note: Tethering can quickly use up your data, so don’t use it to download apps or updates! 8
Setting up a Google account A Google account enables you to download and update apps from the Google Play Store and keep your Business Builder App up to date. You’ll also be able to back up the content on your Tablet. To set up a Google account, follow these steps:
1. On your Tablet press the Home Button followed by the Play Store
and then touch the Apps icon

2. If you have an existing account touch Existing and sign in with your Google email account and password. You can then skip to step 5. 3. If you do not have an existing account, touch New.
4. You will then be prompted to enter your name, and then to choose a username and password for your Google account. 5. Once you have completed the setup and logged in you will be able to download the content available from the Play Store.

Adding the Business Builder shortcut to your Home Screen 1. Press the Home Button
and then touch the Apps icon
.
2. Touch and hold the My Business icon, and then drag it to the Home screen.
3. Release the icon to place the shortcut in its new position on the Home screen.

Using the Tablet Touchscreen navigation Your Tablet’s touchscreen lets you control actions through a variety of touch gestures.
Touch When you want to type using the on-screen keyboard, select items on-screen such as application and settings icons, or press on-screen buttons, simply touch them with your finger.
Touch and Hold To open the available options for an item (for example, an app or link on a web page), touch and hold the item.
Swipe or Slide To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen (eg. for scrolling through pages on a presentation).
Drag To drag, touch and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to move your finger. While dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position. 11
Flick Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe your finger in light, quick strokes.This finger gesture is always in a vertical direction, such as when flicking the contacts or message list.
Rotate For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning the Tablet sideways. As you will be using your Tablet in a keyboard carry case you will almost always use it in a landscape orientation.
Pinch and Spread ‘Pinch’ the screen using your thumb and forefinger to zoom out or ‘spread’ the screen to zoom in when viewing a picture (eg. the details of a mobile handset or the Handset Guide. Move fingers inward to zoom out and outward to zoom in.)

2. Set up email: Enter your email address (eg:
[email protected]) in the first field, and your email password in the second field.
3. Touch Manual setup 4. Choose IMAP account as your account type.
5. On the Incoming server settings page enter the following details: Username/Password: Your full email address and password IMAP Server: mailhost.utilitywarehouse.org.uk Security Type: None Port: 143
Then touch Next.

6. Outgoing server settings. Enter the following details: SMTP server: smtp.uwclub.net Security type: None Port: 25 Username/Password: Your full email address and password Then touch Next.
7. Account options. Choose the options as desired and touch Next.
8. Set up email. Type in an account name and your Name as desired and touch Done.
9. Your email account is now setup and ready to use. Note: There may be a delay as your device synchronises.
