TOOLS AND MATERIALS: Stud Finder Hammer Pencil Tape Measure Center Punch Level INSTALLATION 1. Place a blanket or towel in the installation area to protect the shower or bathtub surfaces from parts that may fall during installation. 2. Locate and mark the position of the wall studs to which you will fasten your shower seat. You can find studs by listening for a solid sound as you knock on the wall or by using a stud finder. Tip: If the studs in your bathroom do not line up to the mounting location for your seat, wood blocking can be installed between the studs using standard 2 x 4’s. We recommend consulting a professional if you are unfamiliar with this type of installation. 3. Mark your installation location on the shower wall using the guidelines created in the previous step. Specifically, identify the location of the top hole on one side of the wall bracket (Figure 1a). We recommend installing your shower seat approximately 17"-21" above the shower floor, or 17"-19" for ADA compliance. 4. Notch the tile by gently tapping on a center punch with a hammer (Figure 2). 5. Drill a mounting hole using the appropriate drill bit for your wall construction (Figure 3). Clear away any debris that might interfere with the shower seat sitting flush with the wall. Teak Shower Seat with Backrest Installation Instructions 1 6. Secure the wall bracket to the wall with the appropriate mounting hardware. Take care to keep the screw as straight as possible so the flat head of the screw is within the countersunk area (Figure 4) Note: Because wall construction and materials vary from home to home, the appropriate mounting hardware for your installation may need to be purchased from your local hardware store. Consult a professional if you are unfamiliar with this type of installation. Contact Customer Service at 1-866-855-2284 if you have any additional questions. 7. Once attached, use a level to ensure that the seat is straight (Figure 1b). Identify and mark the location of the top hole on the opposite side of the wall bracket. Important: Ensure the distance between the wall brackets allows for easy sliding of the backrest panels 8. Repeat steps 4-6 for the top hole on the opposite wall bracket and ensure that the bracket is level. 9. Repeat steps 4-6 for the remaining bracket holes. 10. Once all screws are securely installed, slide the backrest panels onto the wall bracket (Figure 5). Make sure that the orientation of each seat panel is correct.
