Disconnect the BATTERY CABLES from the BATTERY in the tractor. 2. Remove the existing generator, voltage regulator, all mounting brackets, and the wiring that connects the components shown on this page. 3. Install Alternator Mounts. 4. Next the Alternator can be installed. 5. The wiring harness now can be installed. Notice the routing diagram to the right of this page. 6. Next Install a 12 VOLT BATTERY - IT MUST BE INSTALLED AS NEGATIVE GROUND. 7. All lights MUST be changed to 12 Volt bulbs. Mount #GFD9306 8. Check to see if there is power at the Battery Terminal on the back of the Alternator. This should be “HOT” all the time. 9. Now start the tractor and increase engine speed until the alternator starts charging. It may be necessary to go to full throttle to attain engine charge. If the alternator does not charge, re-check all steps. 10. If manual excitation of the alternator is necessary, momentarily feed battery power to the #1 terminal in the plug (remove the plug cover) using a jumper wire attached to the alternator battery stud.
