TECHLINE® iFLEX™ – integrated Flexibility No control boxes. Fewer cables. Smarter options – This is iFLEX™ TECHLINE® actuators with iFLEX™ all feature an integrated H-bridge controller. This is why an iFLEX™ solution requires less space and fewer cables while providing everything from the most basic control to truly advanced intelligent features and feedback. ✔ Less space ✔ Fewer cables ✔ Advanced intelligent features ✔ Feedback You only need two cables to gain complete control of the actuator. There is no need for external control boxes, relays or other high power electronics. With iFLEX it is all built into the actuator – without the actuator taking up additional space. Handling and installation cannot be any easier than with these simple and yet versatile actuator options. iFLEXTM is based on many years of experience and know-how, and as always every option is subjected to the thorough and rigorous testing procedures that is the trademark of LINAK TECHLINE® actuators. ® TECHLINE offers four different types of iFLEX™ options to suit your specific needs IC BASIC IC BASIC - THE PLUG & PLAY OPTION This straightforward actuator option comes pre-configured to meet your exact requirements for stroke, speed, current limit and feedback of the actuator. All you need is to plug in two cables and the option is ready for immediate use. Complete with basic feedback (0-10V) or single Hall output. PARALLEL PARALLEL - THE SMART PARALLEL DRIVE OPTION This self-configurable option allows for parallel drive of up to 8 actuators. A master actuator with an integrated H-bridge controller controls up to 7 slaves. No control boxes or complicated cabling is needed. The IN/OUT signals can be applied anywhere and the actuators can be interconnected, if required. This enables the drive of one of the actuators even if the others malfunction. iFLEX™ options IC ADVANCED IC ADVANCED – THE CUSTOMISABLE OPTION If you choose iFLEX™ actuators with the IC Advanced option you have easy access to configure and adjust speed, stroke and current limits. – The IC Advanced option also offers enhanced monitoring and read out of information about the condition of the actuator and the application in which it is mounted. BUS BUS – THE BUS-COMMUNICATION OPTION This option gives you unlimited customisation and enhanced monitoring - with the added benefit of BUS-communication. We can provide iFLEX™ actuators with either Modbus RTU RS485 or LINbus according to your preference. iFLEX™ features H-bridge TECHLINE® actuators with iFLEX™ feature an integrated H-bridge motor controller, which is the heart of all iFLEX™ options. Actuator reliability iFLEX™ provides features such as soft start to reduce mechanical stress and to ensure a long actuator lifetime. The smart iFLEX™ actuators are also able to act in terms of self-preservation and to shut down if their temperature or current measurements rise above a certain level. This way iFLEX™ provides actuator reliability and prevents any damage in case of e.g. an overload or a mechanical blockage. Advanced feedback iFLEX™ gives you a great number of feedback options. You can choose between relative or absolute positioning such as Hall, PWM, current or voltage analogue feedback. Current (4-20 mA), voltage (0-10 V) and PWM (10-90%) can all be customised to fit exactly to your needs and application. iFLEX™ features Monitoring The advanced monitoring offered by iFLEX™ allows you to perform quick and reliable read-out of information about the condition of the actuator such as the temperature inside the actuator, number of start and stops, voltage input and output as well as current measurements. Monitoring also facilitates both easy daily maintenance and preventive maintenance to avoid downtime. Easy customisation iFLEX™ actuators are easily customised at your production line. This means that one actuator can be configured to fit multiple movement solutions in a single application. Furthermore, you can adjust the current limit, the virtual end-stop and the soft start and stop function. – You can also make a manual run to check that your chosen settings are suitable for your application. iFLEX™ in action Monitoring Easy control Because the control is integrated into the actuator it allows you to retrieve information about the condition of the actuator and the application in which it is mounted. E.g. it can measure the temperature inside the actuator. – There is no need for external sensors, as the actuator will provide information that can be actively used to prevent damage and reduce downtime of the application. Example: Advanced monitoring In a combine harvester immediate action is needed to be taken in order to avoid downtime if something is malfunctioning. The iFLEX™ actuator can help point out the problem and in cooperation with the harvester control system help correct it. Example: Preventive monitoring In the cabin tilt application of a truck it is possible to read out information about how many times the cabin has been tilted. This is a good indicator of how many times the engine has been serviced, and it also indicates how many cycles the actuator has run. All valuable information to avoid any downtime. Example: Easy monitoring In a grain tank it is possible to see if the cover is open or closed, and to determine why you cannot open or close the cover. This could e.g. be due to an overload of grain in the tank, preventing the covers to close. iFLEX™ actuators are suitable for nearly all types of applications imaginable. This means few limits and countless possibilities. With the integrated H-bridge it is possible to simplify an application’s control system and make installation easy with only two cables to consider. Example: In fertilizer spreaders the trend is towards multiple movements in the application – all depending on how the fertilizer needs to be distributed to the field. Until now, you needed a high-end controller with several outputs to control all the motors in the application. With iFLEX™ actuators an offthe-shelf controller for the application will do the job. iFLEX™ in action Easy to customise to end-user needs Less inventory iFLEX™ makes it easy to pre-prepare actuators for final adjustment at the dealer or the end-user. The actuators can be customised directly at the production line. Hence one actuator can be configured to fit multiple movement solutions in a single application. Example: In a harvester, the final customisation can be moved to the dealer, where various modules can be mounted and connected in accordance with the end-user’s needs. This is possible because iFLEX™ actuators are easily configurable and communicate flawlessly with the control system of the harvester. Example: For valves, iFLEX™ actuators can cover a wide range of sizes, e.g. a wholesaler needs only stock one actuator, and he will still be able to cover a wide variety of valves. Furthermore, the stroke length needs to be adjusted for each valve to ensure that it closes properly. This can come down to only a few but crucial milimetres. As time passes, the seal inside the valve gets worn and the stroke length of the actuator needs to be adjusted accordingly. iFLEX™ product range iFLEX™ actuators are suitable for nearly all types of applications imaginable. This means few limits and endless possibilities. LA37 Tough applications require equally tough actuator solutions. Not a single actuator leaves LINAK until it has undergone a 100% function test. Depending on the actuator type, various tests have been carried through. Please consult your local LINAK office or take a look at the actuator data sheet in question to get a thorough test overview. Electrical tests: All electrical parts are tested i.e. power supply, power and signals cables, control signals etc. Electrical immunity is tested according to industrial standards i.e. for radio noise, electrical discharge and burst.* (*) These tests do not apply to third party products! This is your guarantee that a solution based on LINAK TECHLINE electric actuator systems is a solution that will work reliably for years and years. Climatic tests: In the climatic test the actuators are tested to operate in extreme temperatures as well as to endure rapid changes in temperature. In some tests, the actuator has to withstand going from a +100°C environment to -30°C repeatedly and still maintain full functionality. Mechanical tests: Vibration: The actuator must withstand continuous vibration in three directions. Shock: The shock test puts the actuator through 3 shocks of up to 100 G in each of 6 directions. Bump: The actuator receives bumps of up to 40 G in each of six directions several hundred times.
