TECHNICAL BULLETIN Number of lyriQ™ Local Source Inputs connected to a single volume control 301 Fulling Mill Road, Suite G Middletown, PA 17057 Phone (800) 321-2343 / Fax (717) 702-2546 www.onqlegrand.com TB-0012 Rev. O Overview ‰ This Technical Bulletin addresses the number of lyriQ™ Local Source Inputs that can be connected to a single Keypad Volume Control. It refers to the Local Source Input (F7417-xx), when used with the lyriQ™ Keypad (AU7394-xx), or lyriQ™ High Performance Keypad (AU1000-xx), and when those Volume Controls are connected to the lyriQ™ Four Source, Eight-Zone Distribution Module (AU1002) or the lyriQ™ Single Source, Four-Zone Distribution Module (AU7396). Solution ‰ One or two lyriQ™ Local Source Inputs can be paired with a single lyriQ™ Keypad or single lyriQ™ High Performance Keypad (see Figure 1). Instructions for use of a single local source input with a lyriQ™ Keypad can be found in the instruction sheet that came with the lyriQ™ Local Source Input. When using two local sources with one Keypad, it should be noted that when both local sources have input signals, the local source that is wired in series closest to the lyriQ™ Keypad (TV in Figure 1) will be the only source that will be active through the keypad. To install two lyriQ™ Local Sources with a single keypad follow the instructions that came with the lyriQ™ Local Source Input and connect both Local Sources in series with the keypad. To do this, punch down the Cat 5 cable from the lyriQ™ Distribution module to the 110-style “INPUT” punch down strip on the back of the Local Source (see Figure 2). Then, punch down another Cat 5 cable from the “OUTPUT” 110-style punch down strip on the same Local Source and run that cable to the “INPUT” on the second Local Source Input. Next, run a Cat 5 from the “OUTPUT” on the second Local Source to the RJ-45 jack connection on the back of the AU7394-xx Keypad. Figure 2 ©Copyright 2008 by On-Q/Legrand All Rights Reserved.
