Replacing the Echelon CPU card The following procedure should be followed when replacing an Echelon CPU card.
Tools Required •
#1 Posidrive screwdriver
•
#2 Posidrive screwdriver
•
3/16” nut driver
Procedure 1. Place console face down on a soft surface, with the rear toward you. 2. Note the orientation of the base. 3. Remove twenty-two screws that secure the base to the chassis, and remove the base. 4. Locate the CPU card, and disconnect all flat cables and power harnesses. In particular disconnect the 5 way DMX output harness located near the DMX output connectors on the back panel. 5. Remove the six “D” connector locking screws from the back panel. 6. If a locking bracket is fitted remove the three mounting screws and remove the locking bracket. 7. If the CPU card standoffs are fitted into keyholes in the CPU tray, slide the CPU card away from the backpanel until the mounts are free from the CPU bracket, and remove the CPU card. Remove the standoffs from the CPU card. If the standoffs are part of the CPU tray, undo the mounting screws and remove the CPU card. Installation of the new CPU card is the reversal of steps 1 through 7 with attention to the following points: •
Ensure the DMX Output connector harness is located in the cut away section of the CPU PCB. Failure to do so may damage the DMX harness.
•
Insert all CPU mounting screws and locks loosely first. Then tighten the “D” connector locking screws before tightening the remaining screws.
•
Where keyhole mountings are used, ensure all standoffs are correctly fitted into their keyholes. Failure to do so results in the PCB being deformed.
•
Check all connectors are latched securely and test for correct operation before replacing the base.
•
Do not over-tighten screws.
