TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS PROBABLE CAUSE
WHAT TO DO
PROBLEM
Voltage drop or electrical supply is out. Check the installation and/or wait for Installation does not match local the electrical supply stabilization. technical standards. Send it to authorized technician. Damaged electric motor (burned or defective rotor).
Motor does not start or does not restart.
Motor does not turn off with maximum pressure.
Compressor does not reach maximum pressure.
Compressed air retained in aftercooler.
Relieve the pressure by using the pressure switch relief valve or replace it if necessary 8.
Air returns by retention valve.
Verify check valve, clean it or change kit 9 or valve 10. Replace the damaged components and put the oil back. See Technical Data table.
Compressor unit is not rotating (lack of lubricating oil). Damaged pressure switch or unfastened electrical connections.
Fasten again the electric connections or replace the pressure switch 8.
Pressure switch is not regulated.
Unplug the motor and regulate the pressure switch.
Damaged pressure switch.
Replace the pressure switch.
Pressure switch is not connected to electric motor's start key.
Unplug the motor and plug in the pressure switch.
Leakage in fittings, tubing, upper gaskets or in pneumatics.
Change the damaged components or fasten fittings 4, 4.1, 45 and 63.
Valves do not seal.
Adjust or replace valve plate 60 and 69.
Air consumption higher than compressor's capacity.
Check compressor's capacity.
Motor pulley or motor out of specification.
Check the Technical Data table and make the substitution.
Oil change did not happen when recommended.
Change the oil as follows: 1st change: after 8 working hours; 2nd change: 40 working hours after the 1st change. Other changes must happen every 200 hundred working hours or 2 months (whichever occurs first).
Lubricating oil with unusual color. Wrong oil. Water mixed with oil.
Oil leakage.
Clean it or change it, if necessary 73. Find it and eliminate it.
Admission valve is not properly operating.
Adjust or replace the valve plates 60 and 69.
Filter element clogged. Very high consumption of lubricating oil. OBS.: Compressors usually use more oil in the first 200 working hours until rings are smoothly adjusted.
Excessive pressure drop between the air receiver and the working place. Air receiver's filling up time above specified in Technical Data Table.
See Technical Data table. Change the oil.
Rings or cylinder wear. Premature wear because of excessive dust. Wrong oil (low viscosity). Crankcase oil volume above specification.
Overheating.
Replace pressure gauge 24.
Air leakage, obstruction or tubing wrong dimensions (tube's diameter is too small).
Eliminate leakage and obstruction and re-dimension tubing.
Leakage in fittings, tubing or upper gaskets.
Change damaged parts or fasten fittings 4, 4.1, 45 and 63 again.
Valves do not seal.
Adjust or replace valve plates 60 and 69.
Loose belt.
Stretch belt 33.
Motor pulley or motor out of specification.
Check the Technical Data Table and replace it.
Improve local conditions.
Motor pulley or motor out of specification.
Check the Technical Data table and change it.
Low oil level or wrong oil.
Fill up the crankcase with oil. See Technical Data table.
Incorrect rotation direction (see orientation arrow in flywheel 39).
Single phase motor: invert wires 5 and 6; Three phase motor: invert any of the main wires.
Too much dust on the compressor.
Clean the compressor externally.
Valves do not seal.
Replace valve plates 60 and 69. Change the damaged parts or fasten fittings 4, 4.1, 45 and 63. Check compressor's capacity. Clean it or change it if necessary 73.
Loose fastening elements.
Find and fasten it. Replace the damaged parts.
Check valve is making noise.
Replace valve kit 9 or valve 10.
Broken 2nd stage gasket (compressor runs with load excess in one cylinder). Broken air receiver foot/base.
Replace gasket 45.
Loose belt. Not aligned pulley/flywheel.
Stretch the pulley 33. Align pulley/flywheel 29, 32 and 39. Check the Technical Data Table and replace it. Clean or replace valve kit 9 or valve 10.
Rotation above specification. Pressure switch relief valve leaks after compressor reaches maximum pressure.
Adjust the pressure switch and never operate the equipment above the maximum working pressure specified.
Filter element clogged. Compressor's unit internal parts are worn out.
Abnormal noise or vibration.
WHAT TO DO
Operating in a non-ventilated area. Working pressure above the indicated one.
Leakage in fittings, tubing or upper gaskets. Air consumption higher than compressor's capacity.
Check valve does not seal because of impurities between piston and seating. Pressure switch is not connected to electric motor's start key.
Replace the air receiver (Do not weld on air receiver).
Unplug the motor and connect the pressure switch.
Operating in non-adequate environment. Improve local conditions. Recommended oil change interval was not followed.
Change the oil as follows: 1st change: after 8 working hours; 2nd change: 40 working hours after the 1st change. Other changes must happen every 200 hundred working hours or 2 months (whichever occurs first).
Excess of condensed water in the air receiver.
Drain the condensed water by using drain 13 and 38.6.
Not aligned pulley/flywheel.
Align pulley/flywheel 29, 32 and 39.
Belt is not compatible with pulley/flywheel groove.
Replace the corresponding parts.
Unit transmits electric current (electric chock).
Installation not according to local technical standards.
Check the installation and make necessary adjustments.
Leaking safety valve.
Damaged valve.
Replace it 22.
Premature wearing of the compressor unit internal parts.
Replace parts 56, 58, 66 and 67. Very frequent Replace the parts, check the causes starts. and eliminate them to avoid recurrence. Belt premature wearing or belt See Technical Data Table. does not stay in pulley/flywheel Remove the oil excess (the ideal level is in the middle of the oil level sight 52). groove.
Pressure gauge does not indicate right pressure.
