Technical Information Power over Ethernet PoE for Datalogger ECOLOG LP4 The use of a PoE system is a recommended alternative to an socket type power supply. A) PoE external unit to Datalogger ECOLOG LP4 If the LAN network offers the possibility for PoE supply to the device, then a PoE splitter device has to be attached externally to the datalogger. Possible power source: PoE Injectors or LAN Switch with PoE power output. Before use: Check compatibility of PoE Supply with Splitter unit. All cables are used in twisted pairs as: PRx = Wire Pair This corresponds to - EIA (TIA) 568B, AT&T 258A, WECO (preferred) - EIA (TIA) 568A (with PR2 / PR3 interchanged) PR3 PR2 PR1 PR4 shown: EIA 568B Elpro internal POE: PR1 = Power (+ or -) PR4 = Power ( - or +) 12345678 PR2 and PR3 = Signal D) Recommended Switches / Injectors Do not use injectors with power over the data wires: The following three types do work and are recommended (February 2005): Type: PoE Switch; Switch and Injector as one unit 1.
