PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The M88 is a high power, high output subwoofer loudspeaker designed for touring sound reinforcement. The bass reflex design features two 4” voice coil, long excursion 18” transducers mounted in a mechanically and acoustically optimized, rugged weather resistant enclosure. Integrated handles and casters allow for easy setup, loading and transportation.

CONSTRUCTION The enclosure is constructed of 12-ply void-free birch hardwood plywood and is coated with a weather and wear resistant ProCoat™ polyurea hybrid finish. All rigging components are weather protected with a heat cured epoxy powder coat finish. Components in the front of the enclosure are protected by a flat grill made from perforated steel that is coated with heat cured epoxy powder, and lined with acoustically transparent foam. Cam-Lock quick release fasteners allow easy access to the loudspeakers with only a screw driver.

Architects and engineers specifications The subwoofer loudspeaker system shall incorporate two 4" (102 mm) voice coil, long excursion 18" (457 mm) diameter transducers, mounted in an optimally vented bass reflex enclosure, tuned for maximum low frequency response. The horizontal and vertical beam width for a single unit shall the 360°. Directional characteristics can be achieved with an array of multiple cabinets. The unprocessed system frequency response shall vary no more than ±3 dB from 35 Hz to 150 Hz measured on axis. Each transducer shall produce a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of 98 dB SPL at a distance of 1 meter with an electrical power input of 1 Watt, and shall be capable of producing a maximum peak output of 142 dB SPL on axis at 1 meter. Each low frequency transducer shall handle 1250 Watts of amplifier power (per AES Standard AES2-1984-r2003) and shall have a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. The loudspeaker enclosure shall have a maximum weight of 185 lbs.(84.1 kg) and shall measure 45.5" (1156 mm) wide, 22.75" (578 mm) in height, and 35.41" (900 mm) in depth. The structure of the enclosure shall be constructed of 12-ply void-free birch hardwood plywood and shall have a weather and wear resistant ProCoat(tm) polyurea hybrid finish. Input connectors shall be two, Neutrik Speakon NL4 locking connectors, each connector wired in parallel. Optional 3/8"-18 UNC threaded mounting/suspension points can be provided upon specification. Components in the front of the enclosure are to be protected by a curved grill made from perforated steel that is coated with heat cured epoxy powder, and lined with acoustically transparent foam. The grill shall be connected to the cabinet with Cam-Lock quick release fasteners. The high performance subwoofer loudspeaker system shall be the McCauley Sound model M88.
